the spell caster enemies have been kinda lucky in your favor. Astos has so many dangerous spells, lich has some mean ones... but you were lucky this time 😎
You are over the hump and it's nothing but fun from here on out. Great Weapons and everyone can use items as spells..... so damn good. Just don't lose your cure staffs (don't ever equip them) and I think one cure helm. Now... my memory is old and when I played the game the ability didn't work but I think Saber casts haste or tempr on your character and that will help you avoid doing 1dmg.
This may just be me, but I've played both the Pixel Remaster version, and the Dawn of Souls PSP/GBA version, and I'm finding through my own experience and through this playthru that the Pixel Remaster's difficulty comes solely from lack of magical resources. The Dawn of Souls version has normal mana, and not "spell slots" and in my experience, once you get to the Lich, thats when difficulty ramps up a bit, and he doesn't spam random status spells like in this. He hits hard and his attacks paralyze, similar to the wight enemies. Still fun to watch though. I just wish Pixel Remaster was done a lil better, especially with the spell casting.
it makes me appreciate the Battle Theme more, though. Uematsu is some kind of genius how the theme works for both a fanfare for a random encounter but also a dire epic against a Boss. His versatility with a single track is astounding and there's several examples of it through the game.
Especially after he complained 100+ times about the accuracy/number of hits thing. The description for the spell LITERALLY tells you it increases the amount of hits you do!
my question is whats with the bats they do nothing and mostly just exist occasionally getting in the way why did they take the time to make them and what purpose where they supposed to serve
Sigh, Berk played through all of FF3 and FF2 and FINALLY looked up/realized what Haste and Slow do. You'd think without an ATB bar it would act differently. I can't wait for him to go yet another playthrough when he gets those items you can use in battle, and never uses them/sells them.
"Eventually I would have picked up on it." How long is eventually? You went three playthroughs before knowing about it and even then you had to look it up! 🤣

28:26 It really is a great theme, pretty nice to listen with the no encounters here 😁

You got really lucky on the Lich fight. He could have wiped you out in 2-3 rounds if he'd stacked Fira/Blizzara/Thundara on your team.

I think you can stack the haste also.

I find myself missing the Boss Battle Theme added to later releases.

@@Senyuno That is true.
@15:00 it took three full titles and playthroughs but Berk finally realized Haste worked different before the existence of the ATB
