- We have a new dimir commander. A new ... Lazav .. again. He is 2 mana cost. Again. He can become a razaketh. again! But for once this will actually be kinda good and kinda work.

It's already been mentioned but the real cool trick with him as a Commander is getting Phage into the grave and swinging for game. And that's def NOT slow. Heck with a good hand you could get 1st turn Lazav with a Mox Diamond and then 2nd turn Entomb Phage and sac the clue for game. Plus he's in UB so you got access to all the best tutors AND could easily fit in Thassa's Oracle/Demonic Consultation if you wanna be that person. My personal build is tons of tutors, counterspells and removal. Either try and win with turning him into Phage or Thoracle. That's it. Def my favourite of all the Lazavs.
This is great in very layered midrange card in the 99 for Blue Farm styled lists as the complement to Dauthi Voidwalker. In the Lurrus variant this basically is also just Lurrus no.2 and the card draw isn’t too bad. And in the Lurrus version, you probably can Aether Vial it in anyway for pseudo haste and get immediate value.
I want to build it because Lazav is my favorite character thematically. Just that whole "spinning plates" "wheels within wheels" tomfoolery just tickles me and gets my Timmy/Johnny brain firing on all cylinders. Is it "weak?" Oh, 100%. But it looks like the sort of Rube Goldberg machine nonsense that I get a kick out of. Admittedly, this set definitely falls flat for power overall, but the fact my homeboy Lazav has a sweet new look makes me smile

If your goal is to get something like Razaketh into play, then this one lets you pay less mana. Otherwise it’s worse, although the little bit of card draw isn’t nothing
Lazav the Multifarious becomes razaketh for 8 mana. This dose it for 2 and draws a card doing it. So I actually think this one is better.
@@cedhtva underplayed combo in cEDH with Multifarious is to become Maralen EOT then untap and get Opposition Agent.
Vampiric Tutor can set this up with lazavs surveil. Obviously entomb is the best strategy, but still.
What about the new dimir octopus with scry cantrips and payoff razaket or one with the multiverse?
I am a bit torn. It is a bit expensive and only 2 colors. BUT! When this attacks you get to cast something for free kinda. Like it feels like. Attack and cast peer into the abyss. So BIG YES! It should be good.

I was wondering if you could show some data arround Gemstone Caverns in decks, I know that is considered to be an auto include on each single cedh deck, but wile calculating the probabilities of having this card in the opening hand and also be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th player made me wonder... is this card actualy good?, it should only be played on the fastest decks? how many players won the game by playing it on turn 0?, is it realy worth it?
I have no data on that card but I can start adding it into some of my calculations. For future videos.

What am I going to do with this Lazav? Throw him in the trash, with the rest of the also-rans. One thing that really grinds my gears is when WotC raises the bar with power creep, then specifically refuses to meet that bar, for no discernable reason. Why doesn't he have the titan trigger clause? Why doesn't he mark what he exiles in case he gets removed? There's already other controls on his power, so why is he also limited in these respects?
I have to agree. They are not consistent with the power level. It is kinda broken or just opposite.
@@fruhlingsbilder Your moronic strawman is worthless commentary. Dockside specifically doesn't align with normal power creep. It clearly blows the curve in the other direction. I understand that they are going to power creep, so I only ask that they do so responsibly and consistently.
Alternatively, if I give your comment the credence it doesn't deserve: Yeah, why not? If my choices are "everything is broken OP" or "only a few narrow things are OP (and thus obscenely expensive)" then I'd accept the former. At least then I have the freedom to pick the broken strategy/color I like the best, instead of being railroaded.
I personally like the general power down of standard after eldraine. You should look for your powercreep in the commander and modern specific sets.
Also this card is a lot better than the previous 2 mana lazav
@@alttiseppanen Hard disagree. Lazav 2.0 has immediate value, open design with combo potential, stays as what he copies, and uses the most generic resource in the game. Lazav 3.0 must wait to attack, is vulnerable to interaction while doing so, requires a specific resource and repeated payment, and is very narrow in its interactions and design.
