Same collector has owned this car since the late 1980s! California car, clean body and floors. Believed to have 69,500 original miles.
The Turnpike cruiser was Mercury's flagship model. Built to commemorate the creation of the Interstate highway system. Each was fitted with advanced features like a retractable rear window, compound curved windshield and a trip computer.
EXTERIOR: The paint is over 40 years old. I think that says alot about the integrity of the body. It is laser straight with no rust or bubbles. The paint still shows very well. A few nicks touched up and a good buffing would make it beautiful. The chrome is bright and shiny and there is plenty of it, look at the size of the front bumper! Unique features include a retractable "breezeway" window, air inlets at top corners of windshield, continental kit and cruiser skirts. Has a unique front roof line at the windshield. Rocket style taillights and marker lights on the roof are cool.
INTERIOR: Original interior is in good shape. Has a small split at a seam on top the driver seat. Has padded dash, flat top steering wheel, chrome ribbed headliner, push button trans and starter.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has the optional bigger 430-360 hp motor. Runs smooth. It also features power steering and brakes. Clean and proper under the hood.

One of the best looking Mercurys ever made.
OMG what an awesome looking car, the fifties most definitely had a decade of the most stylish chrome-laden cars on the road, the power was making its way from the beginning of the decade, to some of the most powerful engines ever, you'll never see anything like these cars ever again!!!
This what we called a dream machine!!!!. Way back when....
That car screams 1950s I love it 😍 i would so play some doo-wop 50s tunes and go cruising in this beauty! ^^ I tip my hat to the lucky buyer!
An absolutely BEAUTIFUL car!
This is my dream machine....😮... .
Looks almost like a plastic model car So beautiful! Love those red and white side pillar lights, and those extended rear fender skirts. The continental kit really sets this car apart. Great color, great chrome. The interior upholstery could be improved upon, but this is one beautiful car.
WOW!!! Check out the "side marker" lights on the roof pillar. And nothing's sez 50's like that pepto-bismol pink! One of the coolest cars from the 50's. Wish I had the 20 G to drive it home.😃👍
Another beyond beautiful Mercury I would love to own & drive! American cars don't hold a candle to the beauty & style of yesterday's cars like this mercury!!!
An Incredibly Beauuuutiful Car!❤️
What a beautiful automobile
The ones with the 400-hp 430 Marauder engine were among the earliest factory muscle cars. Not many were made.
@Gene Simmons I don't recall ever seeing a '58 Super Marauder in person....then again, there aren't many to see! I have seen a few in magazines and one was for sale online a while back. I forget which auction site or classic dealer was showcasing it. That was one cool air cleaner topping the big MEL engine. ; )
@@AMCmachine thanks, me either; heard about in early 1960.....??
Thanks, interestingly that could be a whole bunch of show in itself, the MAURASES,,AMD A FEW OTHER special ,low production RUNS OF HIMPO CARS... STUDEBAKERS,Olds, CHRYSLER LETTER “SPECIALs”( eg themfew fuelies,), and INDIANAPOLIS 500/ Pace......! Thanks
@@opera93 I think the Marauder was the first 400 hp American production car.
This work of art was produced back when auto workers were proud of their profession.
They have now become pawns in politics.
Such a sad day for the United States of America.
What a gorgeous car
Awesome car 🚗
What an absolutely, beautiful 1958 Merc. I am really, partial to the 1956 Cadillac 60 Special Fleetwood. But what a pretty 1958 Mercury you have, as all of your cars are. Must be hard to have to sell them. But I'm sure, that you don't have room, to kerp them all. I can't see well enough to drive anymore, but I may buy one of yours someday, even if I can only drive it, on my small farm. Thanks for the videos, of all of your beautiful cars.
As if the car isn’t long enough, it has the continental kit on it . Beautiful car though.
Love me a continental kit!! 😍
Looks like that continental kit has an actual tire on it!
This is a real car. This model was way ahead of it's time. My aunt owned a1955 oldsmobile.all white you know Red bullet tail lights...those times are gone for ever... memories really american metal 🪙....
my sister owned the canadian version a monarch scepter.it had the 430 engine and was one of the nicest cars i ever drove.she sold it before i had a chance to buy it. jim
Yeah, this is the one. Unique, classic fins and tail lights. This thing roared! I want one. Gotta be pink too!
It would look so much better without the Continental kit!
Автомобиль-красавец!
I keep on watching this video on an on since couple of weeks. A beautiful car and I wonder wh it is still for sale after so long. Thinking to buy it one day and bring it to Switzerland:-)
If we can ever answer any questions or provide more pictures/video, let us know!
Sweet Cruiser, love that paint color & body style
Excellent
Thanks
Wow what a beautyfull exceptionel car huge it is inside classy motor is great i just love it
It wonderful
You're wonderful! Thanks for watching! 🙂
Wow!
Amazing
Damn nice car with the best regular motor Ford made until the 428 in '66. The best of all combos is the T-Bird Squarebird convertible with a manual trans, but I've only ever seen one...
Now that is a real automobile.
Que cosa tan bella !
Work of art what paint is that I know there was no base coat clear back then
Hi at the beginning you were not quite right .....the turnpike cruiser was top line in 1957......in 1958 it was demoted to the Montclair series as the PARK LANE was the new top line mercury 😊
What a beautiful car. I wonder what it will sell for.
These and Imperials would battle it out in Destruction derbies.
It have the Breezeway rear window
The 59 Monterey had a much more attractive grill to my eye and more flowing wrap around type front and rear window and would have the potential for a time period show stopper.
Perhaps a powder blue and frost white motif throughout.
Wow.😊🇬🇧
This car COULD PASS ANYTHING...BUT A GAS-PUMP!
I want it❤
Muito Loko esse Mercury
Is your museum open to the public to come and look at the cars? Love to collect 1:64 diecast models of these classic cars!
Over sixty years
Sorry, not the top of the line in '58. The Park Lane had that spot.
No Tri-Power either, talk him down.
That is not a hot rod, those mufflers should be taken off and quieter ones installed, it is a classy vehicle.
My goodness those continental extensions actually hurt my eyes. Sort of pre runner to the mandated five mile per hour bumpers in 73.
Otherwise might come in under the radar but that tacked on three foot tail treatment has me passing on this example.
There was a car similar to this on twilight zone that this lady drove and kept picking up the same hitch hiking guy.
The rear bumper also reminds me of the short lived water filled rubber bumpers of the 60's. Also funny to see the continental cover flipped up and the spare tire in the trunk.
@@curtcollett2893 Did I see an actual tire in that continental kit?
That was a 59 Merc Monterey or Montclair.
Not a fan of fender skirts or Continental Kits at all but a nice car otherwise.
I don't like them either Craig, at all!
Car is beautiful but could dump the diving platform on the rear and be way better in my opinion.
I was born the year earlier
No offence intended but it would help preserve the motor if you gave the oil a chance to circulate before you revved it. Also let the engine idle longer before switching off the ignition as you can get fuel wash in the cylinders which can seep last the piston rings and into the crankcase.
They're ran & driven over before coming into this room.
Now that is when Detroit used to build cars we wanted!! Remember those days? Our modern cars today are just absolute soul-less crapola, period, especially the electric golf carts ,they call cars. Nope not me.
Certainly nothing like these on the road today! 🙁
@@VoloMuseumAutoSales Exactly, thank you, Great vid as always.Keep'em coming
❤❤Doesn t fit in my garage, need to buy s bogger house
That car is pure jewelry
