- The Montclair was a full size car that was produced from just 1955 to 1957 and was one of Mercury's premium models. Named after the upper class community of Montclair, New Jersey, these cars featured the best trim, features, and appointments that Mercury could drum up. It offered some of the most desirable features of any car around and was comparable to lower end Cadillacs and Lincolns.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1957 Mercury Montclair for your consideration. It is powered by what appears to be a 312 v8 paired with a Merc-o-matic automatic transmission with a new and improved “keyboard” area with the push button gear selector. The car runs and drives well. Cosmetically the car shows very well both inside and out. The chrome “Jet-Flo” bumpers remain in excellent condition along with the rest of the trim. The massive trunk can swallow up your luggage, golf clubs and any other gear you may throw at it, with a capacity of 31 cubic feet. New for the Montclair this year is the ‘V’ angle tail lights, not only accenting the body well, but giving higher visibility to surrounding drivers.
Other highlights include AM radio, Clock, power windows, spare and jake, Coker Classic wide white wall tires mounted on 14 inch steel wheels with hubcaps. This car is not only gorgeous, but it also runs and drives like a champ. Its body lines, curves and spacious cabin are sure to please!

My Dad had one nearly exactly like this one. Same model, same color (Regency Gray). He bought it new back in '57 at Jake Sweeney Linclon-Mercury in Cincinnati. Dad's had the big 368 cu. in. "Turnpike Cruiser" engine that put out 290 h.p. Lord, how he loved that car! I was just a kid, but I loved it too!
One of my first cars was a 1957 Merc Montclair 2dr ht 312 V8 Grey and White.bought it in 1972.Sure wish I still had it !!
The Montclair was made from 55 -68 and discontinued.The Montclair was not made from 61-63 but reintroduced again in 64.
Wait a minute. Is this car blue or is it "Regency Gray?" It is listed for sale online as "Med. Gray" and here you call it "Blue." Which is it? It looks gray on most of my computers/tablets.
