I could see this being practical for city transportation due to its ability to make super sharp turns but it would need to have better speed and probably dual hub motors instead of just a single one

This is one of the boards that I feel like not knowing how to skate would make it easier to learn since it’s so weird
I don’t know how to skate and the drift board makes perfect sense to me in terms of how you coordinate the foot turn and the lean. They felt like it was backwards which confused me because I don’t understand how moving the other way would make sense, probably because I’ve never really skated haha.

I thought that too, but on their website it shows someone on it and it is for the back.
My car guy brain says steering wheels are for counter steering so yeah on front but idk how that translates to skating

@Jace Clay Cars that can drift have a ton of more torque than this cheap electric board. The product itself advertises riding the same way they do in the video.

I think the reasoning for the reverse steering is, if you steer with your lead foot, it moves the board in the opposite direction for your back foot.
It makes sense, if you think about the disc as being stationary, and the rest of the board as the moving/steering part.

Put that on the front instead, make it possible to unlock and lock it from on the board. and that would be a really useful feature for being able to "activate" a tighter turning circle for larger long boards when you are at low speed.

The Aussie shouldve been a natural at this, everythings already reversed.
I think the steering wheel should be in front of the board for countersteering like in drift cars. Batteries are about 50% from factory because if battery has 100% for a long time it degrades. So you shoud to full charge a battery for max power and control acceleration trigger for losing a grip at the back wheels. And now you can call it drift.

Yes, it is backwards, look at the pictures on the box
its intended to drift like a car. get lots of speed, power slide the back end out, and use the pivot in the front to countersteer, like in a car, and keep your momentum going

It looks like instead of thinking about leaning forward on toes and back on heels on both trucks for turning right and left or switch for goofy stance, you really have to focus on connecting the alignment of your shoulder, core/pelvis/hip, knee, ankle, and toe joints so you can make sure your back foot and toes are always lined up with the core/pelvis/hips(for power/torque) along with the other joints so the back foot can make the turning pad point straight to go straight, counter-clockwise to turn counter-clockwise, and clockwise to turn clockwise. Ive never rode one, but it SEEMS like there is a small amount of leaning forward and back for right and left(reg stance), but since the turning pad IS the tail/back foot position you gotta make every turn a drift and your main directions are counter-clockwise and clockwise.
Now, I really havent tried this, but it seems like you could do the same body movements as using the back leg to ride a ripstick, if the battery is dead and the wheels move freely enough. If so, it is basically a stable, 4-wheel electric ripstick, SO GABE, YOU GOTSTA GO PRO FOR THE DRIFT BOARDING. Also, nothing should be harder than kickflipping a ripstick-- the thing moves only because of the movement of two single and loose swiveling wheels.
If anything I could see a STUPIDSKATE video or ripstick and/or drift trike vs driftboard video, but maybe not bc its electric. Also, I could see someone like Andy Anderson using the drift board with the turning pad as the tail or nose for regular and nose moonwalks.

🤔 The way to turn it seems pretty straight forward. Think of it as if you're riding forward instead of to the side ( hoverboard style not skateboard style) turning your foot to the right will turn the wheels to the left causing your direction to go right, and vice versa 😄

seems like a budget version of the LEIF or Summerboard but less unpredictable, but if that's the fastest it goes then "drifting" doesn't seem too likely, it's just "steering" at that speed.

Hey, guys. Maybe you can try positioning your backfoot on the frontside of the steering plate, just like a DJ playing a CD, rather than put your backfoot on the middle of the steering plate. I mean using your foot tip to control the steering, rather than the whole backfoot.
