Puebla is a nice city, with a very long history as a "college" city (lots of universities there).. also, there is one of the biggest "autowerk" from Volkswagen outside of Germany, thus there are quite a few germans living there (most of them in Cholula, which has become a suburb of Puebla city) Cholula is also known for it's churches.. it's said that there are at least 365 churches (one for each day of the year), so you could hear "cuetes" just about every single day, depending on the patreon Saint of each church.. You should read the whole legend of these volcanos, but story short is that there were 2 lovers, Iztaccihuatl, an aztec "princess" and Popocatepetl, an aztec warrior, after he went to the war, someone falsely told her that Popocatepetl died in a battle, so she died of sadness.. when he returned and saw his beloved had died, he took her corpse to the top of a mountain and laid her down to an eternal sleep, while he mourned beside her with a torch in his hand.. Salu2
Thanks for the great tidbits about Puebla! We really like learning more about the places we're visiting. We should have mentioned this in the video, but it's incredible how many gorgeous churches there are throughout the city. They're almost all very colorful with beautiful tile work as well.
That’s a super old myth about the churches and I’m not even sure why it was ever made up because there’s barely like 1/3 of that amount of churches in Cholula and that’s including all the small chapels.
I LOVE Puebla! Visit the incredible Museo del Barroco and in that area La estrella de Puebla. Then take a hike over the Parque Lineal. Take the tourists train to Cholula town and visit the biggest pyramid in the world walk around town and eat there! Visit the Valquirico place just outside Puebla. Great place to eat. Watch the golden Capilla del Rosario and next to there buy some candies at the Calle de los Dulces. Go to the bazar at El Barrio del artista (on weekends). Visit the first library in the continent, the Biblioteca Palafoxiana, next to the cathedral. Go to take a drink at the lovely terrace on the Amparo museum Lots and lots of thins to do in Puebla!
Thanks for all the awesome recommendations! Not sure we're going to have time for everything since we're leaving in a few days, but let the marathon begin! :D haha
@Lori Jones I did for a few months but no longer. Still remember that great space though. The library isn't big by modern standards but it is very photogenic. Same could be said of Puebla generally. I hope to return some day.
I am glad you are in Puebla because it is usually overlooked by American tourists even though it is Mexico's 4th largest city. It is more popular with Europeans who visit Puebla attracted by its gorgeous architecture, handcrafts, food, history and great museums. It is a cultural sophisticated destination. In Colonial times Puebla was the 2nd wealthiest city of Mexico and that fact is noticeable in the rich architecture of many constructions of the historic center. To me the most remarkable example of Colonial wealth is the Chapel of the Rosary within the convent of Saint Dominique, on the same street where you saw all those shoe stores. This chapel is absolutely magnificent. It is covered with 22 karat gold from ceiling to floor. I don't know of you will be allowed to film inside the chapel, but it is a must-see. About prices, I agree with you. They are higher than in Morelia. Maybe because as I mentioned Puebla is more popular with tourists than Morelia. There are several eateries near the artcrafts market where prices are affordable. Finally, around Puebla there are several pueblos magicos like Atlixco and Cholula. Visit them if you can because they are pretty and full with gorgeous churches, squares and archeological sites. Enjoy your sojourn in Puebla.
You can not leave the city without having seen this places: Cholula, Museo internacional del Barroco (Blvd. Atlixcayotl), Biblioteca Palafoxiana, Sonata and the closest pueblo magico Atlixco. There is much more but these ones are unmissable.
I hope you guys never change from being so honest and balanced in all things. I really mean that. It is most refreshing and likely helps a lot more people than you know.
Hello! I welcome to Puebla! I live in Puebla myself and there are a few remarks about my city I’d like to add. First of all as you mentioned we have several volcanos, including the smallest non-active volcano in the world called “Cuexcomate”.... The city is indeed one of the wealthiest cities in Mexico, next to Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. And it is said that Puebla is even a “snob” city. There’s a belief that if a company tries to place a new product in Mexico; it will be test first in Puebla. If it is well received here, then it is safe to release across the country. On a different-unrelated note, Puebla is a very conservative city and as such, since its foundation, there were created several churches around the old part of the city. There are in fact as many churches as days on the Gregorian calendar just around the downtown area! The tile artwork, displayed on the buildings façades, is a typical handcraft form the city called “Talavera”; and has both Spanish and moorish origins. It is even recognized world wide as an unique and complex kind of artwork. The wooden structure shown near “el Parian” is indeed supporting the weight of the building. After the last earthquake on September, some buildings were affected, specially around the downtown area. They set up those beams while working on restructuring the building’s foundations. YES.... we honk a lot. (Not a lot of comments on that). Oh just as a curious fact. The “zona histórica de los fuertes” is basically a two military forts complex on top of a hill. This is where the battle of Puebla was fought against the French invasion on May 5th, 1862. After defeating the French scout troops, the city decided to celebrate “Cinco de Mayo” (May 5th). “Cinco de Mayo” therefore has its origin in Puebla on a Mexican victory against the French troops around 156 years ago. I am glad you liked the city and you are welcomed to visit again to explore new places. Next time around the downtown area you should go to: 1. The City tunnels 2. Xanenetla 3. Analco 4. “ La biblioteca Palafoxiana” 5. San Francisco convent and gardens Or you can also visit the modern part of the city, where you can find places like: 1. The Ferris wheel “La Estrella” 2. Angelopolis-Solesta (Malls) 3. “Barroco” Museum 4. Atoyac Metropolitan Park 5. Lineal Park Cheers!
Puebla has change a lot! All for the better, I love the main plaza where you can set outside a coffee shop and enjoy the people passing by, very nostalgic city. I love Puebla
I remember visiting Puebla like 15 years ago. I witnessed the most beautiful wedding ceremony in a beautiful church with the most beautiful people 😍 it was like out of a telenovela
Puebla is so expensive 😭 prices from many restaurants are abusive! Im from puebla, and sadly i need to say is a poor state :'( (expensive products/services vs low salary -at least the majority of population) but yeah also you can see people spending money overthere 😂 Thanks for show us some of that beautiful city!!!💖
In the comments of the last video, we talked about where we wanted to go next (in the direction of Mérida). And some of you said "NO! Come to Mexico City!" Yes, we are very close to CDMX but we refuse to drive there. So we'll be going there eventually but it's going to be by bus or plane.
Before heading to Mexico City you should visit Cholula which is next to Puebla and Atlixco which is a pueblo magico of the state of Puebla. Both are beautiful and worth a visit.
Really enjoyed your videos ! Especially on Puebla. I am so excited because I will be flying there this Sunday --- Dec.2-16. Going to attend Livit Spanish Immersion School. Thanks! MARSHA FROM Mississippi
So glad you guys liked Puebla, I hope you get to see more of what this city has to offer, such as food, handworks and landmarks. Enjoy your staying, greetings from Puebla!
Excelente!! Saludos!!!
Hello guys, im very happy you liked Puebla city, Im a resident myself, you should extend your visit for a few more days because ther's so mucho do and see arround town and nearby. Probably vou've heared about Atlixco which is this beautifull Pueblo magico about 40 minutes from Puebla city where you can find lots of flower fields and greenhouses where you can get one of the most amazing variaty of flower plants and many other kind of plants for an affordable price, also one of the main attractions in atilxco is it amazing views of Volcan Popocatepetl still at safe distance from its caldera, wich constantly smokes, almost every day, totally normal stuf for us Poblanos (puebla's citizens), ther's also Cholula town famous for its archeologic seattlement and Piramide, the rest of the town has a very colorfull and colonial architecture, also in cholula the's a friendly comunity of students and small enterpreneurs having small business of all kind, specialy food which prices are a little bit cheaper than prices at Puebla's Centro, you'll love it. Also ther's Tlaxcala which is another state of Mexico but is really smal in land extension and is reallly colse to Puebla, Tlaxcala's centro is only 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Puebla, you'll be happy to find a very small city with many colonial traits as well as Puebla but much more quiet and with amazing food as well as Puebla, also in Tlaxcala there's this other inactive volcano(totally safe) called La Malinche, which you can visit any time and do a little hike around to explore its amazing forest and maybe have a cheap but happy meal with the local business, Finaly I encorage you to stay near puebla city because really thers a lot to see and eat, maybe you shoud look for places to eat other than Zocalo in Centro because yes it's a little pricier but the rest of the city has places that are really cheap if you know where to find them, Greetings from Puebla, if you'd like to find someone hwom know the city and take you to worthy places I have plenty of time to guide you arround. I also speak English and can teach you some Spanish jajaja, anyway thaks for creating this amazing and joyfull youtube content, ill be glad to know more about you and Tangerine travels. By the way, where's Laska? there is an amazing park here in puebla where you can take your dog only for 15 pesos called Parque Metropolitano, is huge with a lot of green grass and plenty of space where he can run freely and safely.
Thank you the recommendations and in such detail, Deimian! We really appreciate all this valuable info :) You really sold us on Atlixco. It sounds incredible! And I (Maddie) am pretty in love with all things floral, as you may have noticed by my backpack, cell phone case, clothes, etc. lol We're hoping to see both Atlixco and Cholula before leaving Puebla. Thank you for such a generous offer to guide us around the city. Unfortunately, we have already made plans to visit Veracruz after this, but maybe we can take you up on that the next time we visit Puebla
@@TangerineTravels No problem guys, You're more than welcome at any time, Parque Metropolitano is located between Via Atlixcayotl and Boulevard Las Torres Behind the "Museo Internacional del Barroco" goo.gl/maps/S2PdJPeeNJH2 Hope You enjoy Veracruz state, Veracruz is one of the most beautifull states in México because of its rich flora, fauna, warm weather and cultural diversisty, on your way to veracruz you should definetly visit Orizaba which is a town located in a valley between the mountains, at the foot of the tallest volcano in mexico called "Pico de orizaba" or "Citlatepetl". Near Orizaba is a small lagoon called Laguna de Nogales a beautifull place to hang around because of its crystal clear ice cold water, very unique, you can even take a swim if you dont mind freezing. Also visit Orizaba's Centro Historico, Zocalo, the cathedral and the Iron Palace, always a nice place to walk around and have a hot cup of the famous Veracruz Coffe, really unique flavour. Have a nice trip guys!
Guys!! ... You should visit Cuetzalan!... Is a magic small town in the Mountains! ... No gringos UA-camrs have gone there I don't know why, you would be the first ones if you do!
My grandparents are from there and it's the most beautiful town I been too. Very humble people and the food is great. I'll be out there in a couple weeks. Can't wait!
You had me at fast internet speeds 😜 I love these pretty colonial cities. And that volcano is very impressive! We can see a volcano from our balcony where we live in Nicaragua and I never get sick of that view 😍
Min. 7:00 That is lateral bracing for structural support of the building. Most likely it is a measure to mitigate the effects of the recent earthquakes from September 2017. This is a common Historic Preservation technique used to assist valuable and vulnerable historic structures.
That wooden scaffolding is to save the building from collapsing,, there are a couple of those in Guadalajara also,, buildings have some historic value.

Some fun tips about Puebla, -The oficial name is Puebla de Zaragoza (or 4 veces Heroica Puebla de zaragoza, or Puebla de los Angeles, or just Puebla city) The historical center of Puebla is World Heritage Site. (Also the valley of Tehuacan is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in the south of the state) -The tipical costume of Puebla is the china poblana (the typical costume that has been adopted as the image of the Mexican woman) and the chinaco (the ancestor of the charro) -Talavera is the handicraft of Puebla is famous because the image of Mexican food and has a designation of origin. -Its maybe th most history and heroic city -Was the first city in all continent only by spaniards, has a grid layout very typical of the European cities of that time -It was the second most important city in New Spain and Mexico competed (and still in many stuff) in everything with the mexico city that had more people, resources, etc. Until the 20th century Guadalajara and Monterrey they surpassed it -It was the last city to sign the treaties of independence (it was always faithful to the Spanish crown) and the Spanish crown remains on the facade of the cathedral, The cathedral has the tallest towers of the colonial churches in the country -In the invasion of USA, he had a US governor -Puebla is place where the mx army and poblanos beat the french army May 5 of 1862 (cinco de mayo) -in 1863 the French returned and besieged the city for more than 60 days, where the city was almost destroyed and where more than 11,000 people died, it is known as the Puebla site '-Puebla is released until April 2, 1867 by Porfirio Diaz, our day of victory. -It is also where the revolution began in 1910 but on September 18 with the Serdan Brothers (You can visit his house in the center, he still keeps the bullets in the facade) -In this city they were born foods like Chiles in nogada, Mole, Tacos arabes, tacos al pastor, rompope, cemitas, chalupas among many others. -great characters from the history of mx plus many actors, singers until youtubers the most famous Luisito Comunica were born here.
Fun to see Puebla - went there last summer. A big part of the wealth there is the Volkswagen assembly plant. If you want to see some symbols of wealth, head out to Lomas or the Angelopolis Mall near the Estrella. The tile is from the fact they make Talleverra pottery there (Puebla's known for this). A lot of the smog comes from the volcano itself.
Thanks for sharing these fun tidbits! Interesting to come from Aguascalientes with the Nissan plant to Puebla with another car manufacturer. We didn't realize VW had a presence here. Also, didn't know that smog could come from a volcano. Neither of us know much about them :P

Puebla, such a beautiful city, where the old style architecture exists side by side with the modern, the teleférico permits the rider to get a COOL bird's eye view of the whole city and of course of el Popo, going off as you guys were entering Puebla, El Popo must have been happy to see you two! At 7:05 I can see now why Jordan fell madly, deeply in love with ya my dear Maddie, you're an ANGEL! ;)
You always leave us the sweetest comments, Joe! You really know how to make our day :) Puebla is certainly a gem in Mexico with all the churches, architecture, modern developments, food, etc. etc. the list goes on! Get rid of that annoying honking and it's a dream city haha.
I was re cap maybe you need to make the tour of the paso de Cortez from there you can see the the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl from the same part and maybe if you have some time, you can visit my hometown Huauchinango Puebla, in there it’s the third largest Dome in Latinoamérica
Never been to Puebla. We will have to go there sometime. Great restaurants and fast internet. What else do you need? The tile work is great there. All of the architecture is really great there.
It's a city worth visiting for sure! And lots of Pueblos Mágicos within short driving distance. Fast internet is just icing on the cake :) Thanks for watching Waggs!
El Volcán Popocatépetl (great pronunciation Maddie) is the 2o tallest volcano in México (5426 meters/ 1653 feet), just after the Pico de Orizaba. As you said this is an area surrounded by volcanoes, there is the Popocatépetl, the Iztaccíhuatl, the Malintzi and Pico de Orizaba wich is the tallest volcano in México. Puebla city is a beautiful city with a lot of history and of course is a modern city. Don´t forget to visit Cholula... Enjoy it!!!
I love Puebla. I would encourage anyone to stay at the Colonial Hotel. It's a gem and so incredibly historical plus incredible rates. I first went there in 1972. Then again in 1977. Finally, I went in 2016 and stayed with my fully grown children and husband. What a delight this place is!!!
I love Puebla, I grew up living there, studied there, it's one of my most favorite cities. The new modern construction happened in the last 30 years. The old colonial part is the most beautiful to me. The rocket sound is not a "rocket" or "fireworks". It's a type of "HAARP", electromagnetic canon, used by VW to "scare off" hail. VW uses it to prevent hail from damaging their cars, which sit in vast parking lots. Indigenous people in the area have protested outside the plant bc the canon is also blocking rainwater, causing a drought in central mexico, affecting their crops, agriculture, corn production, & the atmosphere. The canon is sold at hailcanon.com from New Zealand. You can see evidence of the canon going off at min 5:42 on ua-cam.com/video/Vjlbg_pVSDg/v-deo.html VW is a huge economic power, so they tend to do what they want. Some people know the volcano popocatepetl has an underground base currently occupied by the ancient Maya, they fly a cigar shaped UFO, which enters through the tip of the volcano (It's been videotaped). They say the Mayans came from Maia, a planet in the Pleiades & a few contactees have actually entered the underground base in their ships. Very interesting. Please visit The Rosary Chapel in the Church of Santo Domingo, it's made of gold. There's around 365 churches, 1 for each day of the year in the city. Puebla is also known for its beautiful Talavera tile throughout Mexico. Love your videos, I enjoy your vibrant personalities and excitement for my country.
I recommend visiting Casa de Alfeñique, Amparo Museum, International Baroque Museum, Forts of Loreto, Estrella de Puebla I also recommend the Art Park, park of the giants, ecological park, metropolitan park and Africam safari the largest zoo in Latin America. All in Puebla Capital and 6:54 it's a reinforcement that they put on buildings that were affected by the earthquake on Sep 19. (it's temporary)
Hello there in Atlanta! You are so right.. Puebla is a gorgeous Colonial city. The architecture and tile work is still some of the most impressive we've seen in Mexico. Hope you get the chance to visit your home town soon :)

MY FAMILY LIVES THERE😭
I visited them in August
I love it there so much
Puebla suffered the earthquake, that’s why some buildings need to be propped up with logs.
Not to mention Popocatepetl has probably caused some damage as well.
Your should really visit Cholula and Atlixco, also “El museo de arte Barroco” is a beautiful museum
We're hoping to visit both of those Pueblos Mágicos before leaving Puebla :)
Next time around the downtown area you should go to:
1. The City tunnels
2. Xanenetla
3. Analco
4. “ La biblioteca Palafoxiana”
5. San Francisco convent and gardens
Or you can also visit the modern part of the city, where you can find places like:
1. The Ferris wheel “La Estrella”
2. Angelopolis-Solesta (Malls)
3. “Barroco” Museum
4. Atoyac Metropolitan Park
5. Lineal Park
Cheers!
I am from Puebla, been watching you guys for a while waiting for this! I am glad you are liking the city.
Yay, Puebla! We're really enjoying it here. :D
I’m also here in Puebla. :D
I have never been in Puebla ! It gave me the impression of being very clean! I’m from Guadalajara but living in the states ,Gracias guys 😁!!
Puebla is so expensive 😭 prices from many restaurants are abusive! Im from puebla, and sadly i need to say is a poor state :'( (expensive products/services vs low salary -at least the majority of population) but yeah also you can see people spending money overthere 😂
Thanks for show us some of that beautiful city!!!💖
Lucifugio Rojo Cale I agree.
Depends on were you eat
In the comments of the last video, we talked about where we wanted to go next (in the direction of Mérida). And some of you said "NO! Come to Mexico City!" Yes, we are very close to CDMX but we refuse to drive there. So we'll be going there eventually but it's going to be by bus or plane.
Wise, dont drive there with your car there. And dont pass through State of Mexico.
Before heading to Mexico City you should visit Cholula which is next to Puebla and Atlixco which is a pueblo magico of the state of Puebla. Both are beautiful and worth a visit.
Don't drive in your car in Mexico city. Is a crowd city. A lot of traffic is terrible and be careful there.
come to orizaba pueblo magico! you're like an hour and a half away!
@Schatten Jager is not aboutthe city, lwts be clear, its about the state of mexico police, sorrounding mx city.
I miss it there, Puebla is BEAUTIFUL!
Yeah it's great Puebla and You are welcome again when You come to México and I can bring You to others places in Puebla
Yall love our country but hate us people ? 😂😂😂
@@pabloramos420 That is Trump and the 40% that support him. They don't love much of anything but themselves.
Pablo Ramos but you live in the states ? So that’s kinda awkward
@@pabloramos420 I completely agree with you.
I live in Puebla, and i know that it's beautiful,it's got a lot of good and bad things,im proud of my city,Viva Mexico!
Really enjoyed your videos ! Especially on Puebla. I am so excited because I will be flying there this Sunday --- Dec.2-16. Going to attend Livit Spanish Immersion School. Thanks! MARSHA FROM Mississippi
U gonna love it..
So you just landed in Mexico :D
Welcome to Puebla!
You got a friend here!
So glad you guys liked Puebla, I hope you get to see more of what this city has to offer, such as food, handworks and landmarks.
Enjoy your staying, greetings from Puebla!
Excelente!! Saludos!!!
I'm from here & Puebla is the best of Mexico ... our culture, food and architecture are just amazing !!
So for a retired couple...maybe live in less expensive Cholula and visit Puebla every once in a while ? Thx !
Beautiful, heading there tomorrow, thanks for the videos, you're inspiring me
Hello guys, im very happy you liked Puebla city, Im a resident myself, you should extend your visit for a few more days because ther's so mucho do and see arround town and nearby.
I'm from Puebla and, yes, maybe has places expensives but not all. i hope you liked very much!
Guys!! ... You should visit Cuetzalan!... Is a magic small town in the Mountains! ... No gringos UA-camrs have gone there I don't know why, you would be the first ones if you do!
I wonder why that is! From the pictures, it looks gorgeous. Hope we can make a trip there!
You definitively have to go to Cuetzalan too, one of Mexico's most magical places.
I totally agree with Patricia Kimbel

I love these pretty colonial cities. And that volcano is very impressive!
We can see a volcano from our balcony where we live in Nicaragua and I never get sick of that view 😍
I’m from Puebla and I’m glad you like it!!!
Min. 7:00 That is lateral bracing for structural support of the building. Most likely it is a measure to mitigate the effects of the recent earthquakes from September 2017. This is a common Historic Preservation technique used to assist valuable and vulnerable historic structures.
Thanks for the insight on that! We didn’t notice any leaning or damage but perhaps it’s because of that bracing. 👍
I'm actually from Puebla and I'm so so glad how you guys talk about my city. Hope you like the food and everything in here. 🙌🏼♥️

That wooden scaffolding is to save the building from collapsing,, there are a couple of those in Guadalajara also,, buildings have some historic value.

@@TangerineTravels I think David is referring to the ash falling from the exhalations of the volcano.
David Chilton David, has the volcano ever erupted and if so would it be as bad for Puebla as the recent eruption in Hawaii?
Wait a second, the volcanos makes smog?
@@darleneohara4854 This volcano has been regularly active since 1994, but never like what has been seen in Hawaii.

It impresses me how people from other countries come to Puebla and like it (I’m from Puebla)
I m actually from puebla i miss my City so much hopefully i go back very soon greetings from Pennsylvania usa
Go to Cholula and Atlixco!
We're hoping to see both! :)
You can see evidence of the canon going off at min 5:42 on ua-cam.com/video/Vjlbg_pVSDg/v-deo.html
VW is a huge economic power, so they tend to do what they want.
