Previous Ulta employee here! Brands actually pay to have a spot in Ulta, similar to how a lease works. This is why the type and number of brands varies from store locations. If a brand doesn't sell enough at a certain location, the brand or Ulta can remove and replace the brand. This is also why more prestige brands don't work towards coupons, because those brands are already paying a good bit of coin in order to have their spot in Ulta, so they opt out of coupons.
Is this why randomly some brands go on major discounts and don’t restock? I was recently at a store and saw that Dose of Colors was cleared out and I had missed out on a major discount.
@@cncjl07 I would say yes, I work at target and I know whenever retail is trying to get rid of a brand and or make space they go on a major clearance to get rid of their stock fast so it’s not just being thrown away and wasteful

Even if you personally have luxury makeup, thank you for knowing most of your audience is not interested. I feel way too many channels are trying to convince us we need $120 Natasha Denona or Pat McGrath palettes.
I absolutely needed my $125 Pat McGrath palette in my life. The only purchase I have zero regrets with. I refuse to buy Natasha Denona palettes because I have seen honest reviews that say they aren’t great. I have a five pan palette of hers that was gifted to me, and it’s okay. I probably wouldn’t buy one with my own money.
@@trishamarie it's literally not a need, its a want. My point is most people will get the same from a Colourpop palette as they would a ND or PMcG palette.
Makeup on the whole is a want not a need. What you choose to buy is up to you. You can choose to save up to buy luxury if your not able to purchase that all the time or you can choose to buy cheaper makeup even if you can afford luxury. I personally have always purchased brands in Sephora and Department stores because that’s what my mother/grandmother used and bought for us as teenagers. I don’t necessarily agree that most people don’t buy that level of products. I think anyone that really wanted something would buy it.
Jaclyn Cosmetics getting a spot in Ulta is like when you see someone who doesn't really put in effort or integrity get a job promotion or hold a prestigious role that they don't really deserve.
She even kinda admitted to that on her channel. She talked about how she had all these launches plan but couldn’t do them. Great...now we are getting your old makeup

No tea no shade and don’t get me wrong I’d love to see a review, BUT, we all know that a large reason you want to buy that Este Lauder rose blush is because it’s rose themed.
For any other rose lovers also guilty of this: try the Milani blush with a flower embossing. I think my colour is called Tea Rose? It's really pretty and far, far cheaper.
I think that Melt is SO CLOSE to being one of the best brands out there. They are so innovative and creative with their ideas, but they do have a lot of issues with their formulas and such. I really do hope that they evolve and improve, because I would love to try some of their products.
One tiktok pointed out that this generation war is really just white millennials and zoomers, because we white people always gotta judge and make a fuss about shit. I think it's pretty obvious that Jaclyn just paid a shit ton of money to be in Ulta... It's such a huge slap in the face for other brands who probably can't afford it BECAUSE they work so hard to release good quality products more than once a year, which is probably why she was able to afford it..

The makeup goblin within me 🤣🤣🤣 I love that as a description of the desire to acquire products! I call it shiny crow syndrome, where a bird grabs something because it's sparkly, even if they can't use it or eat it.
The teddy bear is from the brush set they made years ago. I bought it when I was like 14 as my first brush set and it came with a cute bag with gold bears all over the pink bag and a gold bear zipper.
I always feel bad just commenting on your looks bc your videos are always so well rounded and you're so intelligent..but girl u look so pretty. You are glowing!!
With those Pat McGrath heart lip oils, I can see it going 1 of 2 ways. Either the product is going to stick to the edges of the heart packaging and you’re not going to be able to get to it and use it, or there’s an itty-bitty teeny tiny tube in there and a shit ton of wasted space in the heart. Either way totally not worth it and a waste of money in my opinion.

Hi, Texan subscriber here! Just want to say thanks so much for spreading the word bc there are a lot of people here who had a really rough go of it last week.
It makes sense that the brands pay to be in Ulta. It's like brands paying for shelf placement in the grocery store. Love the Huda liner packaging & KVD foundation, will definitely try.
I've used skincare with apple extract in it before. It's an antioxidant, so it's good for the skin. It's really neat and on-trend that they decided to go that route because skincare is so popular right now, I think a sheer foundation balm with skincare ingredients is something a lot of people would want. I can't wait to see how it actually performs, what the coverage is actually like, etc.
Yes, the whole process of products getting the shelves is a secret industry in itself! Even in grocery stores. I was really hoping for a deep dive into this process because I have never heard of a full on explanation of all the schemes and deals
Yeah I watched Samantha R's live video the other day and she was talking about JC going into Ulta. I also had no idea brands had to pay to go into Ulta.

Honestly I would also be interested in the KVD balm foundation review. I brought the liquid $18 foundation and I like it enough to maybe repurchase.
Omg yaaas! I used to work at Macy's at a beauty counter and I can confirm that brands pay a commission to the retailer for carrying their products. A percentage of each sale goes to the retailer.
I can’t wait to see you try the new kvd stuff! I will definitely be getting the racha loose powder, I wanna try the liquid canvas primer as well. Omg and the elf putty blushes are at the top of my list as well! 😉
I use Estée Lauder skincare products for a while now and I can’t tell you how amazing they are. The night repair serum is literally the best! I do use few ordinary products in between like the B oil for more glowing look and seems like they work well together. I don’t know about the Estée Lauder makeup tho... I know people are raving about the foundation but I never used it, ordinary serum foundation works miracles. Sending love! X

@@SpyderT22 I thought Trixie was alright
@@SpyderT22 What did Trixie do?
No tea no shade and don’t get me wrong I’d love to see a review, BUT, we all know that a large reason you want to buy that Este Lauder rose blush is because it’s rose themed.
For any other rose lovers also guilty of this: try the Milani blush with a flower embossing. I think my colour is called Tea Rose? It's really pretty and far, far cheaper.
I feel attacked lmao
Theres no "goth" in KVD packaging anymore. Never bought any when Kat Von D was a part of it but I admit I loved the goth packaging she made.
Omg the thought of a Tatcha bb/cc cream or tinted moisturizer is really appealing!
Hannah, could you do a video where you give your favorite all time go-to in each category of product? Both luxury and drugstore? ☺️
That Teddy Bare highlighter looks like the bear’s frozen in carbonite lol
Omg😂
If they'd gone with "frozen in Carbonite" as a theme I would have been buying it.
"Makeup Goblin"- lol the perfect description for that part of us that continuously wants to buy new makeup!
Jaclyn cosmetics will probably be right by morphes or part of morphes section at ulta
I was just thinking about if it’s gonna be on the high end side or the drugstore side lol
@@shayladenigris4986 right there with colourpop, BH, morphe and makeup revolution 😂
Ugh yes I need to know hannah’s opinion on make up I do not usee 😍
I thought you said “Coughing Season” for the candle name 😂
Lol it's appropriate
Is that not what she said?🤔😶😂💔
Listening to Smokey’s voice is exactly what I need rn so relaxing 😌
I think that Melt is SO CLOSE to being one of the best brands out there. They are so innovative and creative with their ideas, but they do have a lot of issues with their formulas and such. I really do hope that they evolve and improve, because I would love to try some of their products.
Whenever Hannah uploads its honestly became part of my nighttime to just put on my skincare, sit in bed and watch to unwind
Omg GIRL you’re so close to 300k!! So proud of you from a sub that’s been here since under 30k ♥️
SO well deserved 🥰
Thank you so much 🥺❤️
Same ! We love Hannah !
Seeing the millennial and gen z discourse on TikTok and then me, a gen z kid, being completely in love with my millennial UA-camrs is really the best
*agrees in Zillennial*
One tiktok pointed out that this generation war is really just white millennials and zoomers, because we white people always gotta judge and make a fuss about shit. The part of Gen Z that people stereotype as being overly sensitive are white kids wanting to flex their social justice muscles and the Millennials telling them to calm down are overwhelmingly non white. That’s been my observation.
@@talynhastime9343 oh my god that’s so true. We’re not as effected by the actual issues so we just get distracted and poke fun when there are real this to be mad about. I love talking about this
Been watching more skincare UA-cam recently and I get so excited every time someone mentions your channel. Specifically I hear the Welsh twins and Cassandra Bankson talk about you and your channel and I just love when people talk about the content I like. It’s like we can all fan girl together 😜💙
Too faced would be in Becca’s shoes if their Born this way line didn’t exist 🥲
I find myself thinking "oh the colour story is so cool for that" whenever I look at palettes now. As someone who didn't know makeup things like a year ago and I still don't know much, Hannah has taught me so much in so little time lol.
Same
Yesss i love the concept of Yasss or Pass! Much more interesting and fun to listen to than anti hauls. Its a subtle shift in language but it makes a difference and its much more positive and pleasant to listen to!
Second this 😊
My first thought about Jaclyn going into Ulta : damn that's gonna be a small gondola!! 😝😝
Me: Knows literally nothing about makeup and honestly doesn’t care
*Smokey Glow Upload*
Me: runs to watch
I don’t wear makeup like EVER!! I watch because I love Hannah 💕
Same tbh
I plan on wearing makeup in the future, but I just love hearing her talk about whatever.
You guys are my people. Love Hannah and I love that SHE loves makeup but I now care about people (like Manny MUA) that I’d never heard of...I’d never heard of primer...now I have primer. No idea what to do with it though...Hannah seems so intelligent and interesting
Saaaame
something about that huda brow product picture makes it look like they're being held hostage in a basement. maybe it's the lighting they used?
YES why is it so dark and weird looking
I was surprised how many people on Trendmood were excited for JH launch. We will never forget the lipstick scandal, her handling of the situation was unacceptable.
Omg flashbacks to fighting with my sister in the blockbuster over what movie to get. 😂😂
I think it's pretty obvious that Jaclyn just paid a shit ton of money to be in Ulta... It's such a huge slap in the face for other brands who probably can't afford it BECAUSE they work so hard to release good quality products more than once a year, which is probably why she was able to afford it..
I just wanna know when is the Becca sale ✌🏼
Lol sameeee I gonna snatch up the hydra powder and some lipsticks
I love your videos. I am binging your whole channel right now. I really like that from the start you were super friendly and opinionated and informative. My fav UA-camr for sure.
I’m excited for where KVD is headed...I hope they continue to keep the gothic aesthetic! But I LOVE that they’re making their products with more recyclable/sustainable packaging! & that shade range looks good.
Hannah, Michele reviewed the Chanel Highlight a couple weeks ago! It looks GORGEOUS. It’s my next purchase once I pay off my other purchases lol
“Gotta make a good impression with my eyebrows” 😂 we all felt that.
I love coming to these videos and taking a deep breath with the intro. Thank you for being a safe space for me 💕☺️
new subbie! so happy that you call out these brands for their lack of shade range! totally unacceptable in 2021! thanks for keeping them on their frikkin toes mama lol
I love all your videos!! Especially when it’s a YASS or PASS because love the way you say it!😄
The makeup goblin within me 🤣🤣🤣 I love that as a description of the desire to acquire products!
Yeah, so dumb 🙄
Your commitment to posting videos is motivating! I’m a small small channel and I aspire to have your drive! Keep it up 👏
Thanks for putting Texas in your spotlight! Where I live in Texas has mostly gone back to normal but a lot of of places are still under a boil notice and are facing other issues. The majority of my friends and I weren't able to work at all during the snow storm do to travel issues or our jobs just not opening. It's rough but getting better lol
I'll never tire of the yassss or passes at the beginning
“But we somehow managed to make it out alive every week” felt that in my soul
I just binge watched most of your videos and omg I love your content you are so insightful and you are so articulate!
I would LOVE to see you do a video all about ur favorite base makeup. Primers, foundations, concealer, powder, the works!! I have dry textured skin and it feels like all the other ‘beauty gurus’ have basically perfect skin. I love how honest and real u are with ur reviews. Seems like it’s rare to find these days.. plus I always trust ur opinions! ❤️
The whole Teddy Bare set got me and it did not disappoint 😭
These are quickly becoming my favorite videos on UA-cam 😊😊
I'm a k-beauty gobblin. Toners, essences and moisturizers. I want to try them all. Thank goodness I never got into make-up.🙏
Perfect way to wake up on a Friday. New Smokey upload sets the tone for the whole day 🥰
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE BECCA VIDEO 🤯🤯🤯
It's too bad, they have some really solid products, and while they might not be the most exciting innovative brand, they don't "deserve" to go under (not that I wish bankruptcy on other brands)
I was so excited so hear your opinion about the Kvd Balm! I thought it was so cool, I might buy it too
Hi, Texan subscriber here!
I can't wait to see you post about the kvd foundation on IG and see what you think! Cuz i recognized your face and i follow you on IG! We have similar skin tone so yay 💕
Yep! Same things with stores in Disney Springs. Disney gets a cut of profits from every store.
"the makeup goblin within me has to be stopped" HAHAHAHA omg I don't even wear makeup anymore but I love watching your stuff!
The glitter on your lids is amazing 😍😍
The Tiffany heart necklace is iconic btw,
I’ve been fixated on it for months 😍🤩
Tom Ford, Tom Ford is the brand that awakens the makeup goblin with in me. Normal I buy it on poshmark at normal=ise prices to justify it to my logic brain but it is a battle to the death.
Honestly I would also be interested in the KVD balm foundation review. I brought the liquid $18 foundation and I like it enough to maybe repurchase.
I am also very interested in the KVD balm....looks intriguing!
I just got off work and I've been blessed with another yasssssss or passsss
I love waking up and seeing a new video from you🤩
I use Estée Lauder skincare products for a while now and I can’t tell you how amazing they are. X
Did anyone ever used to go to a Hollywood video? It was almost exactly the same as Blockbuster but cheaper that's where my family went...
I had both stores across the street from my apartment. I loved Hollywood selection of horror movies. I miss going to pick out movies. Great memories.
Yes!! I would always be allowed to check out a video game and get a candy :) good times!
We didn’t have either in my town bc it was too small. We had an independent video rental place though.
Yea, I grew up in L.A. and loved Hollywood video. Like Dawn R. Says horror was my favorite
i actually love the blockbuster palette color story for some reason
I would love to see a makeup collection video. I’m so curious about what you have and are loving
I’ve never heard of Glow Recipe until today! After hearing your thoughts on them, I checked it out online and ordered a few things! So excited to try them out, thank you!
Work has been a lot recently so I’m so grateful for your videos! The intro makes me laugh every time 😂 hope you and Charles are doing well! ♥️
I probably would’ve never seen that Ethereal palette without this video bc I’m not deep into the beauty community and I’m so happy I did. Had to run and buy it
Hey Hannah how are you? I’m looking forward to hearing your opinions and thoughts this is gonna be soooo goood
I would love to see a review of that KVD product! great vid!!!
Would love a video about makeup brands you think deserve more recognition/hype! I furiously scribbled down the brands you mentioned at the beginning
Also the Huda eyebrow pencil SWATCHES! Those pictures cracked me up so much. Just indistinguishable thin brown lines on an arm
