One thing to also pay attention to is the transmission oil pressure switch. It's apparently common in our 9th Gen Civics for it to come loose over time. I wonder if it has to do with this issue in this video of built up pressure. My Brother's 2015 Civic was leaking transmission fluid out of the blue to the point where it had less than 3 quarts total of fluid in it. Barely moved. Had to put the car in neutral and push it to the driveway. Found out that the switch was EXTREMELY loose and dropped a ton of oil. Be sure to check the tightness of that switch! Learn from my mistake. (The switch can be accessed by removing the driver side tire, wheel well cover and its to the left of the transmission.)
@@douhavemilkUMMMM?! THANK YOUUU!!!! Thank you for thisss! Omg I’ve spent the last WEEK crying trying to figure out why I’m leaking transmission fluid. Got an Inspection TWICE, and the mechanics said no oil leaks, transmission itself had no issues… ITS THAT DAMN SWITCH!
Thank you! My son’s plug popped out twice in the last week and a half, drained all the tranny fluid. Original Google searches said it was the fill cap filled with debris, but that was clean. I found your video, and that seems to have been the problem. BTW: my son‘s 2015 has 210 K on it. And other than this, we’ve had no issues (knock wood).
Thank you for the video/ info This is the exact problem. My daughters car is having never knew about the pressure valve and didn’t you know it is clogged up and done as you had suggested as well and spun it towards the back. Thank you so much problem solved. 👍
Unfortunately i found your video AFTER the transmission went out of my wifes 2015 civic on the way back from vacation in Georgia(we live in Ohio) 😕,but this was the exact cause of our issue, the plug had popped out at some point and road dirt and grime got down into the transmission and locked it up,almost 8k later(and your video) i now check the plug everytime i do an oil change
Thank you so much for that tutorial. I was trying to find out where it was because it kept popping out. I will go home and do that just how you did it!
Thanks for sharing, I wasn't aware of this or I'd been on the look out. I'm glad I found the plug but gonna order a new one for sure. Thanks for watching!!!
Thank you so much for your help! I have the same year, make and model of your wife’s car and that was the same issue I found when my battery had to be replaced over the weekend. So glad it was an easy fix. Honda was telling me they would clean it for $100.
I never knew that was there that was a real big pain in my ass now I know I'm going to get right on it as soon as possible that thing popping out that thing used to piss me off every time I look under the hood thank you so much I never knew about it
For those without patience: 1) clean the plug w degreaser or alcohol. Put a little oil and plug back in. 2) reach down and find the L shape rubber vent, clean it. The plugged vent caused over pressurized transmission. Clean when swapping fluids. Optional: put some kind of ziptie or rubber band on the pressure relief plug.
I have the same issue and have clogged up sand and mud in there. My car isn't pulling well. How do I clean the inside of the transmission and replace the oil with the plug?
I changed the trans fluid on this one but didn't film it because I was in a hurry. I searched how to replace transmission fluid on a 2015 civic and several good videos came up. If you can't find them let me know!!
Too lazy to buy a new cap, i follow all the steps and before placing the cap back on i just placed a few tight loops using a simple rubber band. (It acts like a tight seal/washer) around the top. Give it a firmed twist/ pressing down the inlet. So far it doesnt pops back.😅 cheers
Before fixing thia problem i feel the engine seems to jerk a lil in low speed. After trying this method it seems to dissapear and engine responds improved! Now Honda then this is really a global issues dire for design improvememt.

This happened to me - was discovered by a mechanic. The mechanic tried to sell me a new cabin air filter and engine intake filter (both of which I just replaced myself), but said nothing of why the plug came out or how to clean that little plug you showed that was clogged. He simply plugged it back in, and promptly removed the other items from my estimate while giving me a discount on the services I went there for in the first place. Currently on the hunt for why my car makes subtle gargling noises while accelerating around 35-40 mph. Hoping this is part of the solution.
What is the little breather part called I’ve been going crazy searching at AutoZone s and shops but no one can seem to tell me what it is because mine broke off trying to take it off
@@ACDesignsGaragejust spoke to a friend and he said it does that for his integra as well. Cleaning the other plug is obviously necessary and may be best because the transmission dipstick won’t allow pressure to be released if necessary. Never want to hv the transmission fill hole to be open tho. Thank you for the video! Please stay safe!
Maybe its clogged up again, not sure if thats possible that quick. It makes me think its a breather issue some where if the transmission is pressurized. I will say maybe you need a new plug, that what im doing because mine is pretty loose.
I have a 2015 Honda Civic transmission makes a ticking noise and has been diagnosed as a transmission problem. But I've been driving like that for about a month. And I have the same problem transmission plug pops out.
Mine did the same. Put a new plug that fit more snug. Seems like that fixed it popping out. Someone recommended to buy usa aftermarket one. I put a honda oem
Has anyone had a 2015 civic that makes a wierd rc car kind of whining when your accelerating from 0 to about 20 mph has almost no power in that range as well .

Dont be lazy. The part is $4 on EBay. You dont want a rubber band breaking and falling into your tranny. That would be fatal.
Recall?

It could be, under that plug is all the transmission stuff rotating while it's running.

what is that "blue thing"?

My plug was popped out too but the breather was NOT clogged.
Not sure what causes it
The plug may be worn out. A new plug will be a little thicker and stay in place more securely.

Same here. It's happened twice, and the breather wasn't clogged either time.

If this plug pops off will the transmission fluid leak out a lot long term?
I didn't notice alot but what I worried about was debris falling in the transformation.
the vent of my 2015 civic ex is clean af, and fill plug still popped out, just order a new plug to see if it fits tighter
I'm not sure, those things puzzle me lol
@ACDesignsGarage yeah, I ended up putting some Teflon tape around, now it's tight

As long as it didn't get water or debris in it you should be fine, or to be safe drain it in a clean bucket and check it and put it back in!!!
lo encontré en Amazon como tapa de ventilación de transmisión me costo mucho trabajo encontrar.

You need to replace the plug. The rubber on the plug gets hard.
