I lived in homestead (Jan - Sept 1978) and worked at the old James Archer Smith hospital, in the Laboratory under Charles (Chuck) Habelow the lab director. I rented a room from a nice lady who had dogs and cats. I have very fond memories of Homestead and my work there.

I lived there in the 80's. I cut my finger and needed stitches, and my step mom took me to that hospital. I was pretty scared of the deep cut, and I remember her giving me a cigarette and we smoked in the waiting room!😮

I miss the old Homestead with farmland surrounding it. It is growing too fast. Speaking as a 40 year resident.
I can completely understand and only imagine how you feel. The change here has been extreme.
I was born there in 1984. I moved to Ohio in 2007 and I've been dying to move back. Everyday felt like a good day in Florida. Ohio is depressing half the year. When my youngest turns 18 I'm going back and if any of my children want to come they can come with me. I at least want to get my ashes dumped in the Everglades if I die.

@@thedirtybubble9613 because I remember every day feeling like a good day. Even with the gunshots And the occasional dead body dump for days. That no one reports because they don't want tied to it. But the location is awesome. Gateway to the keys, right beside Miami, in the Everglades. Besides the gang violence and county ran by Democrats, everything else is great. Go fishing everyday, sit out in the warm son and get robbed every once in awhile. What's not to like

I agree with you 100%. I moved back from jersey. I'm so much calmer. But be warned it's gotten crowded here but still pleasant living.

Homestead has grown since the mid 70s with new or more homes and new or more shops. Close to the Florida Keys. I didn’t know it covers Florida City. Good thing they added a Movie Theater and a Bowling Alley. Great Video.

I just found out about the city. I was looking at positions I could fill after I am done with my career training and Homestead is one of my options. I prefer warm weather and hope to head down that way in a few years.

My mom bought me to homestead in 2001 and while growing up there it was on a slow growing rate til 2018 it started rapidly growing to where it’s at now it was bound to grow you got Miami on top and key west under so much land in between and the nascar World Cup track is literally there so it was bound to get noticed and grow later on they’ll eventually start probably building building in Redlands who knows

I hate what is happening to Homestead. I have lived here for 25 years and Kendall has nowhere else to build so it is all coming South to Homestead. All the Farmland has started to Build. Farms are going away. I am sure a Realtors really loves our area so they can trash us to make a lot of money off the land of Homestead. Don't like this video at all.

Homestead use to be great until lennar and dr.horton started buying off our beautiful greenery, building in every corner without any regard to the infrastructure in homestead. WE ARE JAMMED. Homestead infrastructure cannot support the amount of people we are getting and still waiting to get as they continue to build and jam in as much people as possible. Crime rate is up, more aggressive drivers, no new schools, no jobs in homestead, and traffic all day, everyday! Get ready to wake up at 4 in the morning for work if you live down in homestead and need to travel north for work. And also, let’s not forget the monopolization with lennar, they make money off you forever!!!!! Thy are a scam!!!
Hey Nathaly, even though I am a realtor, I can see and understand what you’re saying. It also pains me to see green spaces being taken away to continue building. I think that one of the most beautiful things about Homestead is how rural and agricultural it is, so if big developers continue buying and building, that aesthetic will change, even more than it has already. I share and understand your concerns

Where is the southernmost stop of the rapid transit to get to Monroe County?
Looks like the rapid transit stops at Florida City. Doesn't go as far as Monroe County
we are also right next to one of the top ranking worst cities to live in because of the crime rate, the agricultureis betting lost, the traffic is unbearable so it doesn’t matter how close you are traffic will still hold you back. There is not much to do and the things that we do have are boring in that they are small so once you explore it, that’s pretty much it. The roads are consistentlybeing built and destroyed and rebuilt for obscure reasons., to many homeless people hiding where you least expect. It use to be great, but its gone down hill.
It’s to many homeless people by my area.
All these new people moving affecting the ones who live here alrdy.everything gone up

In general, in Miami-Dade County, tiny homes are allowed in your property's backyard. There are specific guidelines to follow, but in general yes.
@@AngieMBlanco I don't want to buy a home and add the Tiny House. I just want to live in my Tiny House on my Land like I do now In BROWARD COUNTY. I own my lot pay taxes. I want to be in a more rural area I work in Avocado

@@puertobellotequila2033 oh there are quite a few parks! Harris Field Park is one of the biggest in the area and it's located on 1034 NE 8th St. They have a soccer field, football field, rentable pavilions, they do rodeos, monster truck shows, etc. It's a great time!

Alot of the houses seem to be one level - wondering what the reason is for that.
@@mellibee100 These were just a few that we got videos of, but there is quite a large variety of two story homes too. Especially in new construction.
@@AngieMBlanco My husband and I are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and all the houses around us we see from the window and as we drive around seem to be one level. I just wondered if there was some building code reason for that.
