Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS is a performance enhanced version of the standard Baleno and is for those who enjoy sheer driving thrills in a hatchback. It comes with a 1.0-litre turbocharged Booster jet engine and a five-speed manual transmission. The Baleno RS will pounce with the likes of Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and Fiat Abarth Punto. Proud owner. A Sub 10 second car. 205 tyres, a better exhaust system and an air filter are recommended upgrades for the car. The VGT Turbo is sweet. Great ride quality. Lovely brakes. An ECU remap ensures the car makes around 127HP/200NM. Cheers. For the extra money 4 airbags, better pedals, nicer seats and 17 inch alloys should've been there. Overall a really punchy and super smart car in darker colours. 🔥😎❤️

What I calculated is that Maruti might have tried to rework on finding a sweet spot between Mileage and Performance by averaging out that with 'smart hybrid' this time.. any inputs from your side?
does this rs version has more bottle storage than the normal baleno ?
No change in interiors whatsoever. Exterior changes include a silver trim line on all four sides at bottom, a different front-grille, slightly re-stylized headlamps and a more substantially re-stylized rear bumper.

85,000 km completed on my Baleno RS. no major mechanical failure till now. running on maintenance services only. insane power delivery on demand and equally good stopping power.icing on the cake is 13kmpl mileage in regular city driving. No regret car especially if you are a city driver.

This car is not just about performance. Since its from Maruti, its for those who care about mileage, service, reliability and a little bit of performance. And when all these factors are put together, BalenoRS do stand a chance to survive
baleno alpha diesel or vitara Brezza zdi. which one to buy? majorly based on performance
1.4 Boosterjet would have done the job , but with 998 cc Boosterjet it stands no where ! We already have better and seasoned cars like Abarth Punto and Polo GT TSI in the market !

Yeah the power to weight may be a little better than the polo gt but when it comes to torque to weight the baleno is rubbish, it's going to be a little speck in the rear view mirror of the polo gt tsi

Price is one thing and the biggest thing is that these cars are hot hatchbacks and the fun and pleasure of driving a hot hatchback is completely different.
Understand why the Golf GTI in the global markets in a winner, it is the best hot hatch and can easily take on bigger rivals like Audi and BMW,
And if I had the money to buy a Octavia I could spend a couple of lakhs more to get the polo GTI, and that is much much better.
enthusiasts must go for polo gt tsi ...DSG 7 speed is the real deal...

They're late but Fiat may shutdown operation anytime in India look at the sales numbers, so I bought a Polo GT TSI six months ago. Its a beast trust me but being a Volkswagen it's too expensive to maintain even for an enthusiast because I commute 70+ kms everyday (fuel economy 5kmpl, Routine Service 10,000) and it has rear drums "GOD KNOWS WHY".
All that said we can always appreciate the effort that they've made. What this gives us is a better list of options and competition brings down prices and I'm sure you wouldn't mind a Healthy Competition, may bring in better performance from others. Plus the Power to weight Ratio is better than the Polo :)
Now, I think Baleno would be a better choice lower maintenance cost, ITS DETUNED so get it tuned to make 112 bhp, all discs and a better fuel economy and a competitive price- they're barely asking for a premium price over their top end models.

Let me correct you. The Baleno RS has a completely new engine fyi (that's 'for your information' if you didn't know). It's not a RS badge like the Ciaz but a new 1.0L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol that produces 100 Bhp. Get your facts right before claiming stupid shit.
Dude i read all the specs..... they removed the superlight steering and installed a heavier one.
The addition of 16hp will be lost on that weight as well as other so called new sporty parts they installed!!
Old baleno is 865to 890 kerb weight

The RS has a power to weight ratio of 107 bhp / per tonne. To be very honest with you, telling me that you're into cars since 5/6 years doesn't prove anything. An enthusiast with proper knowledge about cars will know that an increase in power more proportionate to the increase in weight will make it go quicker in any case. You are correct. GT TSI and this car will fight head to head, since this Car is having lower kerb weight compared to GT TSI. Other's are just commenting on the BHP, but they doesnt know how it will behave in normal roads due to it's lower kerb weight. Maruti knows, how to sell their car.

Regular baleno. 860 kg 84 bhp=97 bhp per tonne
baleno RS 960 KG 100 bhp=104 bhp per tonne.
so actually only 7 bhp per tonne added and that too for whopping 1.5 lakh Rs.
better is to get some performance parts in less than 75000 and increase about 10-15 bhp power. for suspension 25000 more. still a 75000 better deal

Now Maruti really needs to improve the front grill design n the head light shape of the Beleno. It doesn't go with the majestic looking side n rear view of the car. And also needs to change the dotted tail light as it gives very bad impression to look at.

There's no substitute for cylinders. Why do they keep thrusting these 3 cylinder engines on the public? The only thing different with this 3 cylinder engine is that it's turbocharged. Why can't they just offer a 1.2 L engine with 4 cylinders that's been turbocharged or even a 1.0 L 4 cylinder turbo engine? It's a shame that they badge a car as RS and end up doing things that help improve its fuel efficiency.

Anmol Sahota Thats true. Its a real shame that even so called enthusiasts end up following the band wagon instead of opting to purchase an awesome car like the Abarth Punto. My Abarth is doing great. I was actually going to sell my GT TSI this year and purchase the Abarth but i am really glad that i had the gumption to go with my heart and purchase it a year in advance. It was THE best decision that i made.

Cars like these come to india once in 10 years or maybe more 😂 The enthusiasts here crave for such machines for years and years. I totally agree. I wanted to purchase the Abarth when it was initially launched in 2015 itself however i was apprehensive since there was no dealer in town. I couldn't hold back anymore and i decided to take the leap. Wow, i can't believe you've been watching my videos since the humble Alto. The Abarth deserves more than just a walk around video as a simple walk around wouldn't do justice to it. I make the odd youtube video using my phone just for fun and i am a recluse. Since i have so few friends its tough to make a video when i drive the Abarth (i do not have any go pro). Which is why i haven't uploaded any video of my Abarth even after a year.
