The Best Way To Clean Your Glasses
Вставка
- Опубліковано 24 чер 2012
- I always had problems getting my glasses clean before I tried this. Tired of smudges and spots that won't go away? I was. This method works great, the first time you try it, it may not work, so if you have lots of smudges or film on your glasses you will want to do it 2-3 times the first time. How am I going to clean them when I can't see
Lmao use ur senses
Superfez that why you should have 2 glasses :v
54 Tunny I have 5 spares and my eye got worse so I bought 5 new spares with different grades. howdya like that?
54 Tunny Well.. as you see, some people don't actually have two pairs of glasses because they cost 400 DOLLARS so not everyone is able to afford a new pair of glasses (:
LOL
3 years from the last post and your video is STILL helping out newbie glass owners like me. I've been literally struggling with my cloudy glasses until your video. Thanks man!
I’m glad it helped!
Dude stfu and grow up jackwad
Thank you so much! I've seriously been sitting here for an hour trying to clean mine off with the little cloth my glasses came with, and it just kept making them more smudgy, So frustrating.
Same here.
Kyra Lawson me too annoying
Same problem I was so much frustrated

DO NOT wipe off your glasses with a regular towel, it can actually scratch them (I found out the hard way). It doesn’t matter how gently you do so. Use a microfiber cloth, preferably one made specifically for cleaning glasses lenses.
wait but can I do the cleaning with the soap and water but dry them off with a cloth ?
But the cloth gets dirty after some uses so how to clean the microfiber cloth?
@@tobinotes buy a new cloth
dont wipe them at all
@@tobinotes You have to wash the lense cloth every other week with hot water and soap/detergent then let it air dry.
Exactly what i was looking for, what a time to be alive.
except that heat is terrible for the lifespan of any glass that has an anti-reflective or anti-glare coating, so be careful with that
Dave Kelowna Heat is not good for the glasses
eliza eli I was told by a professional to use hot soapy water

Yes good advice. ...I clean my glasses with hot water every morning. ..only use soap if my glasses have fett spots on it. .....you do not need fancy liquids. ....

Try this, wear a glass get inside a washing machine, and don’t forget to get inside a dryer as well, good luck, no need to thank.
Thank you so much. I've been using this method to clean my glasses, but I wasn't sure if I was harming them by doing so. Thanks for the confirmation. This is really the most effective cleaning there is IMHO.
Omg i've literally been cleaning my glasses this way since forever and I love how it preserve them in a perfect condition ( no fear of scratches ), but also they become Extremely clean!!
It's nice that people converge on the same ideas 😁
Cheers!
I've been known to go through 9 cleaning cloths and spend 40 minutes trying to make sure there are zero streaks when I clean glasses. This method saves me over a half hour of my life at least once every week.
For years, I clean my reading glasses at the kitchen sink using a drop of Dawn dish liquid and after rinsing, the results are always perfect.
How often do you do that?
When needed.
so did you do what he did or something different? I’m having problems with my glasses always being dirty and if you could tell me how you cleaned yours it would help tons. Thanks!
How do I remove the remaining water droplets that are still on the lenses after doing this method? You have especially small lenses with a square shape, so that helps the water to flow right through, but a lot of people nowadays have round lenses, I'd assume that's what makes the droplets attach. Any solutions?
The water won't stay on the screen if you used liquid soap. I just watched the video today and I'm so glad it helped, Now I can say bye-bye to my cloudy lense
@@olayemiawoeyo3832 Liquid soap as in dishwashing soap or handsoap or perhaps bodysoap? Also, do you have square or round glasses?
Exactly the way I clean my glasses, learned this hack from my dad. I watched him use this method countless times growing up in the 70s. Good of you to share it with others.
I’ve done this for years until I noticed the soap in time, deteriorates some coatings after few months!
The spots caused by regular use of soap look like air bubbles that won’t go away 😔 so just be careful
You’re supposed to use washing up liquid..not soap
Thank you so much for this video! I've been cleaning my glasses with the lens cleaner and it just wasn't getting the built up dirt off no matter how many times I cleaned them! I watched your video and washed them about 3 times and they look so much better! Thank you!
your faucet sounds like a diesel xD

Rightt😂😂
Since dishwashing liquid works better than microfibre clothes, I think I've officially discovered that glasses are, in fact, dishes.
How do you remove the water droplets from the lenses though?
I just attempted to clean my glasses this way. What a difference! I've been using cleaning spray, but all that seemed to do was move the smudges around. There are still a little bit of scratches, but a few more times should take care of those. Thank you very much for your video!
exactly !!
Wow, thank you so much. I know this is a bit of an old video, but I was going crazy. Just given my first pair of glasses a week ago and all I was told was to use the cloth that came with them. That's it. They've been smudged for days and it's only gotten worse the more I've used the cloth. After trying your steps, it's like they're brand new. Thank you so much!
Optometrist are not helping.
IMakes perfect sense. Soap with water cleans everything. Thanks for sharing.
I just turned 30 and got glasses.
You are the man thank you I had literally no idea what I was doing 💪🏽
This entire video in a sentence: "Wash the lenses with dish soap using your fingers and air dry."
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!😎
To dry you can also just use toilet paper.
Toilet paper scratches the lens..never use toilet paper on your glasses
@@thedon2005 Pretty much anything that you put on there can scratch the lens...... If you didnt clean it properly before. Worst offender: Dry microfiber cloth
@@thedon2005 I do clean them before. Toilet paper makes zero scratches. I even ofthen get better results if i were to use a microfiber cloth because the toilet paper is always new.
almost 1 decade after , you still save people's life , your the mvp
Worked really well with my glasses. I had these smudges which were really hard to get off with my cleaning cloth so this really helped.
Awesome! I am so glad it worked for you too, this is the ONLY way I have ever been able to get really clean glasses :)
I was in the process of wiping my glasses on my shirt and then you uploaded this and I wathed it. I'm gonna go do this now.

Thank you so much for your video. I just got glasses the other day and was wondering how to get rid of the cloudiness.
people complaining about the water - stop wasting electricity by being at your computers for anything other than vital necessities.
Ya we know that. And that's why we're so concerned about the water wastage. The more obvious wastage happening here, smarty-pants

This was really helpful. I took a blow dryer on a cool, low setting to rid of drops. Carefully. A clean, microfiber towel could work too
Oh
So soap and water cleans things ?
Michael Sharkey ikr! Science has come so far!
Nope. Poop and pee actually cleans things
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVEERRRR!!! Neeevderrrr BEEN SO CLEAN SINCE INFORST got them!!! Thank youuu
Why did your glasses bark when you dried the top and bottom of the lenses ?
Thank you! This turned my day around 180 degrees 😁
Soap and water to clean something? That's just amazing! I'm going to try this with my police record.
Thank you man this to be the most helpful thing to me as of rn. I recently got glasses and for the past while ive been soo annoyed with cleaning it. This trick works so well, thanks again!!!!
Some of the best advice. Just did this on my safety glasses. Much much better! Thank you!!
Every time I try this it never works. Somehow there's always drops of water left clinging to the glasses in random spots (as if the water somehow became adhesive) and when I try to rub it off with a cloth it just makes worse smudges.
I have to ask someone to help me, my friend rubs it off with a cloth somehow and it doesn't leave any marks. I wish this method would work for me without any clinging involved. :(
hair dryer works really good for that:P
***** better to touch-dry it with a clean soft cotton cloth.
Yep, when wiping the water off it does smudging. Just tap with a towel/paper towel. lightly tap the water spots, dont wipe them. Yeah the lenses we have in our eyeglasses, they dont have water resistant coating maybe. So the water doesnt just roll off, especially if the cooating has been worn.
Paper towels work
Flick them off with a cloth (preferably a lint-free one). Don't 'press' the water drops into the lense.
One of the best videos in youtube with something helpfully for the gamers and the guys with glasses.
For some reason I thought to search for how to clean my glasses and found your video. Seriously, doing it your way is amazing. My glasses are as clean as the day I received them. Thank you so much for this video!
This is what I do at all times and it looks smooth, clear, shiny and awesome ever.
Just use regular soap and water ...then dry with really clean cloth ...works just fine :) :)
Not tissue tho
Does anyone else feel relaxed now after hearing the water run?😌😌😌
It’s like ASMR lol
Worked a treat dude thanks, had been trying to make progress with a cloth for 5 minutes. Literally 40 seconds and they were like new.
Man thanks,,it worked..I watched this vid, went into kitchen did exactly you told..Now wearing them again and posting this comment..IT WORKS, Thanks
I just did it worked pretty good, didnt get rid of it all, so might want to keep trying.
But the dust are literally in my frame even after i took out the glass, n my spec frame is little thick(that part that are holding the glass) cause the glass is thick(i have a high persp) idk how to explain but inside my frame there is like thin wire and around it are dust.its actually transparent and you can see dust in it :(
Sorry for my bad eng..
Thanks. Just got glasses the other day
THANK-YOU i had lip gloss on my glasses and after i saw this video they and brand new clean:)!
Thanks guy, i was about to spend money on those cleaning solutions. Glad to see theres a cheaper alternative.
I would add another step. After rinsing with tap water, spray the lenses with distilled water to rinse off the tap water. Hard tap water may contain minerals that can etch the lenses if you allow them to be deposited on them. When the distilled water air drys it leaves nothing behind because it has no minerals. Use a spray bottle or get one of those wash bottles that are used in chemistry labs. Also, only use dish soap just as you showed. "Hand soap" contains abrasives that will scratch the hell out of your expensive lenses. Your technique is inexpensive and uses common household items. The glasses come out as good as new without having to shell out twenty bucks for one of the commercial lens cleaners.
+William Albert i have used dial hand soap for years and it does not do anything of the sort but i do agree with the extra step of distilled water but i believe that to only be necessary if you have water that comes from a well
+William Albert Distilled water yes. I have good lint free paper towels. Can't air dry glasses because I need them now!
I just watched the video today (June 2023) and I'm so glad it helped, Now I can say bye-bye to my cloudy lens.
Been doing them that way for years. Only I just put a little dish soap on my finger tips and massage the lenses then rinse . I find that a clean gauze works good with the finish dry.
I may try it your way next time thanks.
This man is a Legend
Thanks for this idea. My glasses are finally smudge free : )
What kind of dish soap?
I use foaming hand soap of any kind or just dawn dish liquid.
After 9 years, It also helps me a lot, thnx mate
Turn off the faucet when not in use. If you don't want to spend a minute trying to get the right temperature every time, mark the faucet. Save water, you take it for granted.
Edit: Thanks for the tutorial btw. Really helped me. :>
well this rust metal frame glasses?
Ramiro Espinoza if you want to shake them dry i dont think so
Ramiro Espinoza *will*
Ramiro Espinoza I’ve done this for years on metal glasses and they have never rusted.
Do you think it will rust? If it does get rusty from this, then everytime you sweat you'll have to buy a new pair, they are made anti-rust.
plastic never rust.... : )
You're a genius!! Omg thanks so much honestly I recently got glasses and I had no clue how to clean them plus I'd lost my case with the cloth in it and my glasses just kept getting dirtier and everyone kept saying no don't clean it like this or that or it'll get damaged. In the end I was like whatever and I followed your method and it worked! Didn't realize how grimy my glasses had gotten but defo noticed the difference afterwards!!
i have been using this cleaning method for 6 years..my glasses are always crystal clear..I dry it with facial tissue paper..just hold the paper on wet surfaces of glasses and discard..no need to rub..no need to use microfibre cloth.
will my spectacles get rusted if i wash it?
This worked great! Thanks! One question though, will getting my glasses wet repeatedly mess up up the hinges?
Memo Arango excellent question! Not if you make sure to dry them, I just dry them real good and mine are great after four years.
Omg!!! It really worked
I was trying to clean it with glass cleaner but no change ...
After washing the glasses it is looking very clear thank you so much.!!!!
This is actually the best way to clean glasses..using washing up liquid.
But it’s way better to fill a bowl with lukewarm water and then wipe the glasses using a microfiber cloth under the water. After you’ve done this..run the hot tap..make sure tap is running lukewarm and pass the glasses under the tap in one smooth movement so the running water “pushes” the soapy water residue off the lenses.
If done correctly, there should be no beads of water on the lenses..The glasses should be completely dry.
This is easily the best method to clean glasses however most people don’t think of using a bowl filled with soapy water to clean glasses..
Hey! thanks for the video. How do you clean the nose pads? Mine gets dirty and turns into greenish kind of thing.
I have a new paid of frames I recently got that are very plastic and don't have the nose pads, and I can just wipe them off, but I know exactly what you mean, I never found a way to keep them very clean.
You need to get a little screwdriver, unscrew them and clean them.
What I did was remove the pads by pulling them off sliding one side out and then I would use a Q tip with alcohol and clean them off and it looked new, just be careful to not rip the padding.
Thx! will try that.
or keep them on and use a Q-tip, etc....
So you're telling me, I put mines in the washing machine for no reason 😟

Strange, I bought new glasses, and I was hesitant to wash them cause of the smears. Still, to my surprise, after rinsing the dust from my lenses, they were clear, without any streaks, BUT, when I used soap as advertised by an optometrist, I see clear through lenses, although I can see my fingerprints all over them. I wonder why, cause I washed them thoroughly. Anyway, I just notice that under light, when I take them off, otherwise while wearing them, all appear crispy, strange. And before using soap, it was crispy while looking through them, but under light also, when I take them off and examine.
Anyone know the perfect way to dry them. Everything I have used have left a scratch or a smudge that wont come off unless you clean them again. I have used 2 types of napkins, a brand new microfiber cloth, toilet paper, and a towel. This method works perfectly I just need the perfect tool that dries them with no problems.
Damn, my glasses clean now.
Thank you!! It really worked!
No problem! Glad it worked, please share with friends :D
I have this bad tendency to wipe my glasses with the t-shirt I am wearing. I have found that there can be minute pieces of food, dirt or whatever on the t-shirt that leave scratches. But the biggest problem I have found is that having used fabric softener (Bounce) when the shirt was washed, a film is left on the lenses so that no matter how long you wipe, just gets smeared. I do like to wash my glasses using this technique but it is not always possible. Disposable lens cleaning cloths are handy to have and I love the lens cleaning cloths that the optometrist give me but you have to be mindful to have both available.
i watched a EOS life hack and one of then is to put EOS on your glasses i tried and it ruind my glasses! i been cleaning it and cleaning it but it wont come off. so i typed in how to clean glasses and the first video i saw is this i watched it and thought does it have to be liquid because i used a rock soap and successfully worked this helped a lot im gonna use this method for now on and p.s new sub!

how did you get it stuck in gum?
First freeze it by applying an ice cube to it, and then you should be able to remove it ... I think!
the right question is how do you get bubble gum on your glasses
you quit
This is probably one of the best techniques to clean your glasses. The initial water rinse removes to larger debri that can scratch your lense then the soap just melts the grease and dirt away. I recommend using foam hand soap as its way easier to spread.
But after doing this method, shouldn't he have cleaned the lens with microfiber cloth? Or does he just let the lens dry out? I just don't get that bit
@@hemishrpyou can do both really, but no don't use a towel
