WHEN YOU WERE DRIVIN DOWN LISBON ST. THAT’S NOT THE HOOD. THE TREE NAMED STREETS ARE THE HOOD UP TILL YOU REACH LISBON ST. THERE ARE ART GALLERIES, CAFES, RESTAURANTS AND OTHER RESPECTABLE BUSINESSES ON LISBON ST. THE WORST PARTS ARE BY THE GREYHOUND STATION AND THE POST OFFICE. YOU SHOULDA SHOWN THAT AND KENNEDY PARK. THERE WAS A SHOOTIN THERE A FEW YEARS AGO WHERE A MAN DIED. KENNEDY PARK IS NOT A SAFE PARK BY ANY MEANS. IT ONLY LOOKS PRETTY MUCH LIKE A LOTTA LEWISTON UNTIL YOU PAY ATTENTION TO THE BOARDED AND ABANDONED BUILDINGS.
I live here and I thought it was a stabbing where the guy died. Happened right before I moved here. Racial tensions were super high bc a white man died, so obviously that meant it was time to demonize the refugees. I feel like it's been better in recent years, but I stay to myself so maybe I don't know what all goes on. That said I live in the middle of the tree streets and we literally just had a shooting tonight so come to think of it maybe I just got used to it...

Don’t let junkies give Maine a bad name, it’s a nice state and yes Lewiston is another older northern town that’s industry left years ago resulting in poverty but for the most part Maine is a good place
You're showing me areas of New England I never explore. I am from CT, and this looks like a typical New England city. It actually looks like a less grimy Waterbury, CT.
I live in Maine 30 mins away from Lewiston and it was tragedy I remember my mom waking me up and saying I don’t have school today with no answer . what happend but then I heard the news and it was very scary too and I’m ten and it was still scary

Times sure have changed and the state is in a decline. no longer the gem of America it once was. this horrible event wont make things better. I hope the people can come togther and heal. this is just so wrong
I used to go to Lewiston every summer. Loved the place. Lots of characters hanging out the windows of the Lisbon St. tenements shouting at each other. I used to frequent the pawn shops along there. I'd watch people rummaging through my car while I was inside the shops. One time I got back into my car to find a woman sitting in there. She said "Hi", I squinted, she said "No?" and got out and walked away. It was a wild place but I never found it to be a dangerous place.
I moved to Lewiston 4-5 years ago. I only lived they for about 6 months. I grew up in Boston and also lived in Providence. It definitely is a urban place with a hood feel to it . There are triple decker apartment houses every where. Kennedy park was pretty ghetto the cops drove up and down pine St all day long I lived on Blake st. I didn't really like it.
Jose when were your Statistics from Maine done? In the last yr. 6 mnths?? No They don't do them that often, times are changing fast. Why are you OK with Illegals invading our border?
Because its a lie. I talked to the spokesperson for US Customs directly face to face in el paso. He said he tells the news the truth and they spin it 20 different ways. drove along the border from zapata to san diego i didnt see a single border crosser. All i saw was thousands of cops, border agents and checkpoints. Meanwhile all my guatemalans friends that are your neighbors down there In Naples and Bonita flew to plane to Canada and casually walked a few miles to USA from the NORTHERN border. But you don’t know that because your listening to fox news not asking illegals how they got here in person.
Exactly…Nowhere in New England is THAT BAD. Closest thing you have to that is some PJs in Boston. Otherwise it’s just crashouts being crashouts. Lewiston is like any other “hood” area in New England. An out of town drug dealer’s gold mine and a good place for people from NY,NJ & PA to hide from who they told on or the law.

Texas has a murder rate of 8.2 per 100,000 people vs Maine's 1.7 and you're trying to say Maine is more dangerous because of it's overdose rate? HA! I lived in Lewiston for over 20 years and there isn't a single street that I was ever afraid of walking down at 3 a.m. Same goes for Portland. We may overdose at three times as much as Texas but I have a 0% of dying from it because I don't use. 5x the murder rate in Texas and I am 5x likely as getting murdered, but that's somehow safer? The Dirty Lew might be the armpit of Maine, but not because it's unsafe.
Texas isn’t a dangerous state, it’s actually one of the safer ones. A dangerous state would be Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi. I would pick texas 100x over to live than maine.
Maine's biggest mass murder and one of the deadliest in the entire nation in over half a century? Oops. I still feel safer here than walking around at 2 a.m. in most major US cities. Sh!t, even 2 p.m. in south Chicago or the wrong part of NYC is intimidating. Lewiston was a one time thing by an idiot. It's a 24/7 risk in many other cities.@@jeremynelson6173
@@MrRufusRToyota Texas homicide rate is about the national average. But your overdose rate in maine is the 2nd highest only WV is higher. You overdose rate is 56/100K … thats the problem.
If you ever find yourself in the dirty lew (local nickname for Lewiston) STAY TF AWAY FROM THE TREE STREETS. Also, hearing about someone getting shot there is just another Tuesday. That being said, the outskirts of the town towards Sabattus, Lisbon and Greene isn't too bad.
The reason murder rates are considered more relevant to public safety is that murder is something out of an individual's control, whereas overdoses are completely within the person's control. It's not a difficult concept.
Chicago cold as hell violent crime off the chart same Detroit,Milwaukee, Cleveland so cannot be weather. Maine, NH , VT, all of northern new york next to zero for violent crime of any kind at all even in very, very poor struggling places. There is a drug problem though for certain. Its a world apart from the violent crime throughout the deep south .
I had a friend in Lewiston and would often visit him and his wife. It was nicknamed " Little New York City ". There was little quaint shops here and there and the people were French and white. Obama brought in thousands of Somali people and took away all the quaintness. I drove again to visit in that downtown area and all I saw was Somali people everywhere and no sign of old Lewiston. Im not racist ...Im Native American and Mexican. Its sad what happened to Lewiston and former President Obama seems to care for.other countries and their people before Americans.

You worked very hard to drive around the poorest area of the city. Those wood buildings were built for the textile mills that you worked hard not to show. You avoided showing all the nice parks. There are very nice residential areas and new High-school and middle-school with fantastic athletic fields. That rate of overdoses you refer to has dropped significantly. The dirty streets are from people who were raised in a different culture. I have seen far dirty streets down south.

Hmmm...looks like Lewiston was prosperous at one time bc it has nice big bldgs and previous businesses. Are the Somalis part of the expanding Islamic caliphate? Lewiston was previously French-speaking before Somalis were flown in bc of legal French-Canadian immigration. Hmmm...Somalis like to infiltrate states along the Socialist Canadian border... BTW ppl from Nigeria were also flown into southern ME (Portland) years ago bc they also speak French...ME is a declining American state bc of govt-sponsored illegal immigration. Look at what political party controls the ppl there... 🥺
This guy is fixated on overdosing. Crime rates are made up of numerous offenses. A city given a low safety/high crime rate is based on a multiplicity of crimes. I'm from San Francisco where we have very high overdose, car breakins and what the state has foolishly voted in as petty theft rates. SF murder rates are lower than most big cities. Assault is also lower. Property breakins run average. Almost impossible to place SF into overall low, middle or high.
I found working pentagrams painted on the floors of the two spire towers on the Basilica on Ash st. It was drone footage on a UA-cam channel. I got screen shots. High rates of "lesser" violent and property crime including simple assault, sexual abuse, theft up to $500 or whatever arbitrary number they decide, as well as "other" serious offenses (extortion, forgery and fraud anyone?) not to mention drug offenses can occur along with high drug overdoses but things are still "safe"...
A lot of litter? The streets look clean to me. I'm here reading comments and from what I'm reading it isn't bad living there. I wouldn't mind living there.
@luckylove5021 Nice that you feel that way but Mainers don't feel that way about you. Mainers have a long tradition of abusing "summer" people who are "from away" which is anyone who doesn't speak the weird accent they use to identify each other, like a passcode. Mainers will actively work to drive you "back where you came from" with insults, fraud, cheats, shunning, assaults, and then laugh together when you go. Never lived anywhere in the world like it.
Lewiston is small so its crime rate is proportional to it size. I would have to say Biddeford and some areas of agusta not to mention kennendy park in portland would all give lewy a run for its momey

That’s a lie. There were no indentured servants in the early 1900’s - ridiculous.
Noticed this was early morning and you missed lower hortin st pierce and Knox aka my paper route in 83 good thing we still had an afternoon route back then imagine being 9 and passing papers in the dark (5am) with a week's worth of money
I’ve lived in Lew for 16 years and it isnt like shoot outs every day like everyone says or thinks it’s more like stabbings, sexual assaults, robbery’s, drug addicts, over doses etc and those random interactions with the the people who act like a npc

This part of maine is relatively nice compared to other cities. We should meet and discuss more over a drink?
I live here and I thought it was a stabbing where the guy died. Happened right before I moved here. Racial tensions were super high bc a white man died, so obviously that meant it was time to demonize the refugees. I feel like it's been better in recent years, but I stay to myself so maybe I don't know what all goes on. That said I live in the middle of the tree streets and we literally just had a shooting tonight so come to think of it maybe I just got used to it...
Nothing in Maine is the hood cut it out. It’s cool to get money but when you play it like anywhere in that state is a hood you’re definitely on some good coke, fentanyl or meth.
a few years ago 😂
Murder is the most dangerous stat a city can have so if it’s low it can’t qualify for dangerous
I live in Maine 30 mins away from Lewiston and it was tragedy I remember my mom waking me up and saying I don’t have school today with no answer . what happend but then I heard the news and it was very scary too
and I’m ten and it was still scary
What was the history of the town? It has a lot of 3 storey buildings it must have done well at one time.
yeah sadly, those industries left. Military was huge in Maine back than the same for boating.
Go back to Louisiana bro
@@Greatoutdoors-Ed Huh? Never been there.
Looks miserable
Canada searched us for half an hour. They opened katies tampons. Us customs opened our truck, and closed it. That was all. Didn’t even look.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS As far as I'm aware, the asylum seekers in Maine want to go to Canada but cant go on foot
Main has few Illegal immigrants. What it does have is a sizable (legal) refugee population from Somalia in some cities.

I was born here and it ain’t that bad lol
Dude fr same! This dudes obviously not from around here. He's reading off a page of statistics.
Man was I right. So sad

Better weather and better vibes, loud reggae music and good beaches.. that would be a dream.

Good video I am from Tampa FL and my family moved to Maine back in 2003 Maine is a beautiful state but onces you get away from the Coast it's a very serious drag problem and people can be very rude it's not like down south respect down there for sure.
If you think Lewiston Maine is a hood then you must think Providence and Boston must be like 3rd world countries to you 🤦♂️
The streets are so CLEAN!!! Even in poverty the streets are nicer in Maine.
I've lived here since '82. Its bad but not nearly as bad as its reputation. Its weird seeing someone drive past the building I grew up in saying " this is the worst hood in Maine " Its really not, you should see Augusta
@truthteller9154😂😂😂 Disgusta
Still Dirty Lew
That didnt age well
Maine's biggest mass murder and one of the deadliest in the entire nation in over half a century?
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGSthe homicide rate in Texas is almost 5 times Maine’s.

No, its not close to zero for violent crime just well below the US average. Also significantly higher in the poorer towns like Lewiston.
I live in Lewiston and it rlly depends what area you live in and there isn’t that many abandoned places lol

@@Tigeabee that’s not Lewiston, it’s auburn lol
As a st louisan this is a joke lol! You should visit north or east STL!
Interesting. You gave some great information in this vid.
If you want to see shabby go the the capitol of Maine which is Augusta. (It was nice and quaint in the 1940s.)
I always thought of Minneapolis as a city with high Somali population but I could be wrong? Don't see much of one here in Pittsburgh but did see on in Detroit when I grew up there
Lewiston is not the place that you want to be in.
There are places ten times worse

You worked very hard to drive around the poorest area of the city. Those wood buildings were built for the textile mills that you worked hard not to show. You avoided showing all the nice parks. There are very nice residential areas and new High-school and middle-school with fantastic athletic fields. That rate of overdoses you refer to has dropped significantly. The dirty streets are from people who were raised in a different culture. I have seen far dirty streets down south.
Maine is well known as a rehab destination. Maybe a lot of those ODs are people who have held down a job for a while then relapsing with that money.

That’s because every bit of crime in Maine comes from fiends 😂.
This where alpo was hiding at during his witness protection
We call it “the dirty lew”
I found working pentagrams painted on the floors of the two spire towers on the Basilica on Ash st. It was drone footage on a UA-cam channel. I got screen shots. I messaged the institution and never heard back. The drone footage is gone and Google earth smudged the pentagrams out! The high school is the home of the Blue Devils! They hail a Grandmaster at most home games. 🙄
@@CelestialDrifts yeah, no. They were up on the outside tower floors. Only officials have that access. It wasn't graffiti. It was accurate with working symbols. I saw it on drone footage. I found it on Google earth to.

How does having high overdose rates make it not safe?
You think living in a drug infested crap hole is safe??????? Your dilutional
