Rod, I just wanted to say "Thank You" for allowing the public to have free access to your teaching talent. I cannot afford to take tap lessons, and if I could afford it they aren't offered in my area. I have one son in high school one on the way to college and one just finished college, I have gone back to college for an Accounting degree, so money is pretty much non-existent. I did however purchase a pair of tap shoes from a neighbors rummage sale and am using them. Thanks again, you're great!
I fell in love with tap dancing but classes aren't available in my area. I can't really tap at home, even barefoot because of neighbors. People in town are obsessed with every little noise as well. But I didn't give up and finally found a practice room for rent. I can barely afford 2 hours a week but those are the best 2 hours in my life. Thanks to you I can follow my passion. Thank you for helping people in parts of the world where there aren't many opportunities.
Great teacher!! All of the other people I found weren’t as energetic, supportive, and amazing as him! He broke down the moves really easily, and he went over them multiple time. He was constantly supporting me and staying motivated the whole video! I used to take tap lessons around 7 years ago, but I stopped when I was 6 or 7. It has been five years since then, but I wanted to start taking tap lessons again. However, since I was older they put me in an advanced class, but since it had been so long since I had last tap danced, I was frustrated and unmotivated. But I still had the love for tap dance! So, I decided to go on UA-cam and try and find some good tap tutorials for beginners, but it was hard to find someone that took the time to motivate me and keep me dancing. Once I came across this video, I was a little skeptical, but I totally underestimated him! He was super friendly, he reviewed the steps a lot so I could really get the hand of it, and encouraged me all the time! I love this video!! Thanks so much, I had a great time during this session!
He’s such an amazing teacher! I’ve bought the first two levels so far and will be getting the other levels when I get there. I wish I could find other types of dance (ballet, musical theater, etc) that have a teacher like him too. Thanks United Taps!!!
me too! All those Gene Kelly musicals have reawakened my old desire to tap, which led me to this youtube video, so good luck to you! Now to find some tap shoes...
I haven't tapped since I was little and I watched Happy Feet last night which made me miss it so much. I was determined to wake up and tap today and I found your videos! Thank you so much for giving me the ability to reconnect with tap all these years later. I had a blast!
Rod you are Awesome!!!! I thought tap dancing would be something I would always want to learn but could'nt Thanks to you I'm learning! You are patient and have a very calming voice great for adults and kids too. Great job!
I went to the "beginners" class to learn but those beginners were actually tapping to "42nd Street" with a big finish! So the teacher didn't have time to teach me anything. Luckily I found your video and it was so amazingly helpful and I definitely learnt something here. Thank you so very much, Rodney, from the bottom of my heart!
My pleasure, glad I could help. This sometimes happen with beginner classes that have students that have been tapping for a while. Hopefully my lessons can catch you up:)
***** I'm happy to report that after #1, #2 and #3 of your video I returned to the class and although it's still a looooooooong way to go, it was so much easier to understand/follow what the teacher was saying!! I ended up purchasing your lesson and it's so worth it! (The whole 12 lessons of yours is just a tiny bit more than what I pay for one lesson!) I highly highly recommend your course for absolute beginners!! Thanks a million, Rodney!
Brielle jacobs If the class is an "open" class (anyone can join any time) and you have never ever tapped before, this video is highly highly highly recommended, even just the first 3 of his classes, because you can learn the absolute basics at your own pace. You will not be left out in the class like I was!
thanks koalaoyaji3 I did do the first 3, now I'm redoing. Its hard to tell if I'm doing it right lol. But I am able to do the toe taps on one leg each now so it's gotta be working!
Goodness, your videos are perfect, thank you! I found you right when it should be my bedtime, so I can't wait to try them out first thing tomorrow. I have been drawn to tap & soft shoe ever since falling in love with classic movies as a kid with Ginger, Fred, Rita, & Gene.. More people should learn tap, even just the basics!
Great energy! It's like you were teaching your friends. It's amazing how you can explain while you keep the rhythm. I like how even when it's a video it feels like you were really in the room, cheering your viewers like a personal trainer. Excellent work, thank you for sharing this online!
You are totally awesome. My 5year old son attends a performance school here in the UK, and I think they are holding him back as he picks up things easily but they just drag things on. So much more can be done. He loves your videos and I think has learned more from you than the school. I wish you were in the UK my kids would be all up in there. :)
Currently taking tap lessons, and I'm kind of new to it. You are such an enthusiastic guy who clearly cares about what you're teaching. Just your cheerfulness makes it easier to learn! Thank you and all that you do in helping us beginners. Cant wait to see more of your videos! :)
I haven't tapped since I was 8 but next Tuesday I'm going to start tap again and this video was perfect for reminding me of all the steps I've forgotten! It's also great that you're so upbeat and happy! It's contagious!! (:

yup! i can do everything in this video now. gonna keep doing this one for a few days before i move on to the next one. thanks again! you're awesome, man! :)
I've never tap danced before, but I wanted to. Unfortunately, my school doesn't offer that, so I turned to UA-cam. This video was fantastic for a complete beginner like me, and I'm definitely gonna check out some more :]
i just bought some tap shoes (you know, new summer hobby, lol) and your beginner videos are awesome to follow! Your enthusiasm is great! thanks for taking the time to upload them!
thanks i just went with a capezio cg55 and have made my first taps and am very excited, little challenging on the steps not to fall face first into the wall.
I've been wanting to learn tap for years and now I finally managed to find shoes to fit me I came on here to see if there were any videos to help me learn. Found these videos which are really good and easy to go along with, so thank you :D

Thank You, I wanted to try something new creative to help open up my creative flow. I tried other dance tutorials and it just wasn't working. You have a great teaching style that is easy to follow. I like how you turned away from the camera to teach us.
I've been dancing since I was 2 1/2, and I'm starting competition this coming year, but I never got the opportunity to learn tap. I am going to take lessons this fall, but my dance teacher said that it may be very hard for me to learn. I've learned a lot about the style without even taking a step outside my door. Thank you!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate what an awesome teacher you are andthe incredibly organized content of your channel. All the best to you.,
I finally started learning tap dance at age 32 thanks to you. Last year my ankle ligaments were torn as I fell down stairs. Let's hope they can cope with this so that I can move to the next levels. Again thank you so much for the lessons.
My pleasure and thank you for tapping with me! I'm thinking the tap dancing will actually strengthen the muscles that support the ligaments in your ankles.
I haven't tapped in twelve years and started as an adult. Guess what kids, it's NOT like riding a bike. My first lessons were much more advanced, so I REALLY like starting over with the basics! I did this lesson twice in a row and at 52, my body still has that "Huh, moving? SWEAT!" LOL. I'd buy your DVDs if we could afford them, but my 12 year old Capezio heels are getting their first workout EVER! I'll go back to flats if it gets too hard, but this is so much fun, so TYVM! God Bless You,Probably your OLDEST student. 😱
Hello Mr. Howell! I'd like to thank you for putting these videos up! I've always liked Tap dancing, and I've heard it is a good form of cardio exercise. I loved dancing along with a friendly guy such as yourself! You make the lessons a blast! ontop of that, you go at a VERY good pace, so that no matter what level you are at, you have time to learn and watch.
4 beat riff, yes. I've found the video and that is exactly what we have to learn. With you saying digs it helps me a LOT. Thank you so much! I'm definately going to practise more with your videos, hopefully by the 2nd class I will have it
Thank you for putting these lessons online! I have my first class tomorrow and I'm very nervous! You're a very good teacher. I watched the first 3 beginner lessons and now my heels and toes are very sore, but I've learned a lot. I also watched the end combination on one of the advanced lessons. I hope I can do that one day!
shall follow this to learn tap, really good to learn the terminology as you go instead of just going with it. First tap words I've learnt after a few tap routines
After watching Happy Feet a couple of months ago at my current age I suddenly found I REALLY wanted to learn to tap dance, I'm not sure if I can afford shoes though but I will look into it I think. Your videos seem REALLY good as I can't afford to pay for a tutor myself so I was really upset that I might not be able to learn tap but with your videos I might be able to! :D
True, it's hard to describe in words! Hehe. We do a toe tap then pick the foot up and tap the heel twice then when we go back to do a toe we stay on that foot and then go forward and repeat it with the other foot, said we've got to practise with a shopping cart lol
I was doing tap lessons at college for a qualification but because a girl was bullying me they kicked me out and wouldn't let me go back, thanks for posting them here! :) this is great now I can dance from home!!
omg today i just had my first tap class and i was really shy kinda like held back and then i came home watched this and now i can like follow along this was really fun and i think i will due great next tuesday
I love your tap dance lessons. I have the CD set and decided to break it out this morning because it is a gray, dreary day. I had so much fun doing all three, Level 1 workouts. Tap dancing makes me happy and your videos make me feel like a dancer. Thank you so much!
This is the most fantabulous thing ever :) I am 15 and have never actually taken dance classes (they were always a bit too expensive) I act and go to a school for the arts for theatre, but lately I have really missed doing musical theatre and am trying to slowly creep my way up to a more professional level, these videos are the most helpful I have found so far, I have been watching the videos at home and going through the movements when ever I am at my desk or sitting down, hopefully if I keep it up I will be at an acceptable level in time for MT college auditions two years from now ;) I have about ten years of lost time to make up for... hopefully I'm not too late. I don't need easy, I just need possible!
Thanks for the videos, I've been wanting to learn tap for a while, but haven't had the money or been able to find a local adult class for beginners. Thanks again!
***** please check out my comments I left on some of youre videos. I have new awesome moves to share to you. thank u. and I sent a few emails to. :) sorry to bug. I also try to tap once a while too. ;)

Hello Mr.
Glad to be of help:)
Just got new tap shoes yesterday and decided to try this. It's a bit of a workout!😀💙
Yes, glad to have you tap dancing with me!
Most fun I've had in weeks! Thank you!
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it:)
THIS JUST MAKES ME SING!! Thank you for your awesome energy and love for TAP!!
Thank you so much! I have always wanted to learn how to tap, especially now that I am involved in theatre. Helped so much!!!
This guy’s so talented 👏 👏
Thank you I appreciate that!
These are brilliant videos. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I'm sure that you're inspiring a lot of people to get up and tap! Superb XX
I love your tap dance lessons. I have the CD set and decided to break it out this morning because it is a gray, dreary day. I had so much fun doing all three, Level 1 workouts. Tap dancing makes me happy and your videos make me feel like a dancer. Thank you so much!
My pleasure - happy to being some joy to you!
Love your tap dance lessons !!!
Thank you so much, and thank you for tapping with me:)
i'm 14 and i just started tap today, love the videos Rod, looking forward to the rest of the lessons now :D
Awesome!
o melhor professor....além de muito bom é lindo....beijos pra você teacher.....I am from Brazil.
Glad you found my videos. 2 years is plenty of time you'll be great!
I'm the same as you but I have 1 year ( aahh ! ) good luck !
Thanks for the videos, I've been wanting to learn tap for a while, but haven't had the money or been able to find a local adult class for beginners. Thanks again!
My pleasure. Glad you are able to tap with me:)
