Have you heard '' The Killing of Georgie ' part 3 ? It was unreleased and not totally finished but still very good !! It's on Rod Stewart from Warner Brothers vault box set, it's on UA-cam !!! Cheers !
Rod Stewart is one my favorites. He hasn’t had a bad song. His music has been a part of my life since he recorded Maggie May in ‘71. I was just starting my family.
I've been able to see Rod in person more times than I can count. He, and his band, are amazing. One of a kind voice and a great entertainer who has such a connection with his fans. He really loves what he does and it comes across every time. The virtuoso guitarist with the long blond hair is Jeff Golub who played in Rod's band for many many years. He also played on his own in the jazz world. Jeff was a truly gifted guitarist who died a few years ago from one of those rare awful brain diseases. Such a loss.
This performance was fucking cool and with Ronnie Wood it was a heartfelt reunion on stage. Both together had such a cool time that connects forever. Thanks for this great review and best regards @all from hamburg (germany).
I wonder if singers like Rod Stewart would have had recording careers if there was no Bob Dylan. Bob kind of broke the ice for singers who didn't have polished voices like Frank Sinatra, or 5 octaves like John Gary. Rod Stewart's album 'Every Picture Tells a Story' is fantastic. There's a dozen or so albums that can be listened through in entirety without a song you want to skip... not a dog on it. The Beatles 'Abbey Road' Jethro Tull 'Aqualung' Pink Floyd 'Welcome to the Machine' Santana 'Santana' Rolling Stones 'Sticky Fingers' Stevie Ray Vaughan 'Texas Flood' Bob Dylan 'Slow Train' Elvis Costello 'My Aim is True' Dave Brubeck Quartet 'Impressions of Eurasia' Robert Gordon 'Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die' Traveling Wilburys, both albums Tom Waits 'Rain Dogs' And good old Rod Stewart's masterpiece 'Every Picture Tells a Story'. Some honorable mentions would be... Tom Petty 'Full Moon Fever' U2 ( their first album I think, I didn't get into them until a few years ago) James Harmon Band 'Those Dangerous Gentlemen' Yoko Ono 'Live near the dumpster in the alley behind King Tut's Wawa Hut' For sure you will agree with some of my choices. Some you might have never even heard of. Please add to the list. Rock on!
Sweet. Another excellent choice Harri. I love the times when a smile breaks out on your face while the music is playing: the enthusiasm in your comments is coming.
Yes, that voice! I learned to like Rod Stewart in the 70's after my good friend invited me to concerts. Then, rock n roll had many versions. Live, they always had a acoustic portion of the show. Thanks, Harri. I would like to hear your take on 'Georgie Boy'. A kind of unique song, in the 70's.
Rod Stewart is a British rock & pop singer, songwriter with a distinctive raspy singing voice. His music career started in the 60's. Rod Stewart was in quite a few groups before going solo. He was in the Dimensions, the Jeff Beck Group & "Small Faces"/"Faces". He had a lot of great hits such as "Reason To Believe", "Forever Young", "The First Cut Is The Deepest", "You Wear It Well", "Sailing", "Tonight's The Night", "You're In My Heart, "Rhythm of My Heart", "Hot Legs", "I Was Only Joking", "Some Guys Have All The Luck" & many more.
From the first note I thought of plaid. Lol Such a great tune, blending rock and folk. Mostly beautiful acoustic instruments, plus the addition of the mandolin just make for a great blend of the instruments. Add Rod's unmistakable vocals and the revved up ending for perfection. Great reaction. Thanks Harri and JKClark😉. Wonderful memory from the past. 😊👍✌️🇨🇦 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
This song inspired me to purchase a mandolin. I already played guitar so it wasn’t extremely difficult to learn! Absolutely in my top five favorites of his. He’s a legend!
I love love love this man’s voice! This was on the first Rod Stewart album I ever owned and I must have played it, start to finish, hundreds of times. Thanks for this request J. K. 🌺✌️
"Every Picture Tells A Story" is by far Rod's best album ever!! Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of his other work, especially his years with Faces. There is not one song on this album doesn't blow me away!!!
Excellent reaction commentary Harri! Rod's voice indeed was spot on as he and Ronnie Wood were joyous together. Not to mention the bass and the mandolin accompaniment.
Love this song, and love this version. Hated the attention seeking "look at me" idiots in the audience who can't allow such masterful musicians to have even one moment of dramatic silence in a song without interjecting their juvenile "Woo Hoo" zoo noises. Like throwing a splatter of paint on a great work of art. Such acoustic greatness must sadly be performed out of the range of the desultory masses. Also loved their song "Ooh La La", which I think is the only Faces song on which Ron Wood is the lead singer.
So many memories of the early seventies with Rod’s musical direction and influence…not forgetting his band mates, including the much lamented Ronnie Lane. I urge you to check out Slim Chance, the band fronted by Ronnie subsequent to his departure from The Faces
I just recently found your channel. Terrific content. I strongly recommend checking out Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks album. I’d roll with the song Astral Weeks or Madame George. It’s probably his most critically acclaimed album - a masterful hybrid of jazz and folk. The late great music critic Lester Bangs wrote a terrific review when it came out. Usually I prefer live versions, but in this case the original studio album is superior - both from a production perspective and the soaring beauty of Van’s youthful vocal improvisational skills.
I’m not a big fan of live performance sound quality. The layers you miss sometimes really stands out. This isn’t too bad, but for others the recorded version is the way to go.
Classic Rod Stewart, a gift from the U. K ❤
Every Picture Tells A Story is a masterpiece
74-year-old white men here Harri, and I sure do love your show. You're a great gentleman. May your path always rise up to greet you!
Hope you will take the time to listen to the Studio version! It is so beautiful, it can bring tears to your eyes!
I was just about to type the same thing....!
My favourite!
Double dittos on the studio version it's a must!
Rod had a lot of bigger hits, but this was always my favorite.
Me too!
When it comes to Rod Stewart a tingle is as good as nod or wink
... to a blind horse
I remember watching this thinking he was so old. Now I’m that old.
I wore out multiple copies of Every Picture Tells a Story - in large part because of this song. Magnificent cut
Do yourself a favor and listen to the entire album. It’s a true masterpiece.
My favorite cut from EPTS
One of my favorites
Ronnie is a master and a pleasure to watch........Rod too LOL :)
One of my favorites by Rod!
Gets me every time. Great song!
I’m still crushing this man at fifty. Man is legit. Best concert My favorite is the Killing of Georgie
Ditto 😉🇦🇺
Have you heard '' The Killing of Georgie ' part 3 ? It was unreleased and not totally finished but still very good !! It's on Rod Stewart from Warner Brothers vault box set, it's on UA-cam !!! Cheers !
I have been a fan for more than 50 years!! I love this!!!!!!!!!
Never thought I’d ever see Rod Stewart playing a banjo!
He plays Guitar too !!
When music was music huh Harri? You do realize that's Ron Woods, now with the Stones right?
Beautiful -
Thanks, Harri
Rod Stewart is one my favorites. He hasn’t had a bad song. His music has been a part of my life since he recorded Maggie May in ‘71. I was just starting my family.
Bill Maher did an interview with him just a couple months ago on Real Time and he's still sharp and young at heart. Definitely a true music icon.
A must do Rod Stewart song... "I Know I'm Losing You"
Fabulous choice. 😊👍✌️🇨🇦
My favorite Rod Stewart song 🎵

Rod is truly Amazing live. I'm so proud and lucky to have seen him over 30 times !! My sister loved Jeff G. A true talent gone too soon.
RIP Jeff Golub.
This performance was fucking cool and with Ronnie Wood it was a heartfelt reunion on stage. Both together had such a cool time that connects forever. Thanks for this great review and best regards @all from hamburg (germany).
I haven't even listened to all the clip yet. Just wanted to say that all you need to hear is Jeff Beck's
Truth album to realise Mr Stewart's quality.
Beautiful ♥️
I used to play songs on my stereo at night to put me asleep in bed. This was one of them.
Banjo, acoustic guitar, mandolin, steel guitar, drums and great vocal ! Love this song!
That entire unplugged concert is incredible. One of the best imo
Love Rod Stewart - you always know who is singing when you hear his voice !🥰 This is a favorite 🤩
Listened to and enjoyed this song for 50 years. Never knew Rod played an instrument on it. Thank you!
Oh yes. That entire album is great. Sir Rodney's voice has actually gotten better over the years. Twisting the Night Away is a great old song

I love this version of a great song!
Love Rod, Please go down this rabbit hole, he has so many great songs! Thanks for this one Harri!
A great folkie classic 👌 👍 👏 😀
This entire concert is fantastic!
Said it many times...he could sing a page from a phone book and make it sound good. His cover of So Far Away (Carol King) is a unique favorite
I agree 100 percent !!! I've always said he could do nursery rhymes and it would sound Awesome and sell millions !!! ,...Long live Rod !!!
Every Picture Tells A Story was my very first album still love it to this day a brilliant album ❤️
Just beautiful 🤩. Thanks Hari. Love that Ronnie Wood. Instrumental is so nice.

Loved this live version of this song. Probably 25 years ago or so, Rod’s voice is so strong here. Love all the stringed instrument work by the boys.
Sweet. Another excellent choice Harri. I love the times when a smile breaks out on your face while the music is playing: the enthusiasm in your comments is coming.
Yes, that voice!

A kind of unique song, in the 70's.
Great tune-- A prodigious picker, Ron Wood has been a Rolling Stone for quite a few years. Thanks, Harri!

Great song choice! Wish I got the chance to see him in his prime. Thanks, as always, Harri.

You’d really dig the studio version of this one! 👍

I love this song! ❤️ And your reaction too! 🥰
More Rod Stewart Please!
I love love love this man’s voice! This was on the first Rod Stewart album I ever owned and I must have played it, start to finish, hundreds of times. Thanks for this request J. K. 🌺✌️
Wonderful!
My fav album always has been and will be Gasoline Alley.
You MUST listen to the studio version . . . it is perfection!!
My favourite Rod Stewart song. Many are better known but this is brilliant.
"Every Picture Tells A Story" is by far Rod's best album ever!! Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of his other work, especially his years with Faces. There is not one song on this album doesn't blow me away!!!
A superb performance of an incredible song. Love it!
One of my all time favorite artists. He was amazing in concert and so, so glad I got to see home live! Never tire of listening to his albums.
I grew up with this fantastic music.
Singin' along here, Harri. Thank you! These Unplugged concerts were great! Great reaction indeed.
Harri, great analysis as always, check out IN A BROKEN DREAM the artiste is Python Lee Jackson but has Rod on lead vocals.
Still have the original album, a big reason why I didn't do too well in my exams. Get the album Harri, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks!
Rod has so many wonderful songs and they are all fantastic. He has been around a very long time.
One of my favorites. thanks harri from canada.
Great voice! Another very distinctive voice is Michael McDonald
Ah my fave song by him. Yes, check out the studio version. Hell, check out the whole album! Great reaction!
Dude! this thing is beautiful, I love it
Never seen this! Thank you very much
Excellent reaction commentary Harri! Rod's voice indeed was spot on as he and Ronnie Wood were joyous together. Not to mention the bass and the mandolin accompaniment.
You might want to hear him in a duet with Glass Tiger, “My Town”. You’ll discover a new band too.
The studio version is so good
Check out Rod Stewarts version of Street Fighting Man........ just brilliant.....🌹
Great reaction, you should do "Only A Hobo" from "Gasoline Alley"...such a beautiful song.
Nice one Harri
Awesome! Try Jeff Beck & Rod People Get Ready…old Curtis Mayfield song, soulful cover 🎸🔥🇬🇧🇺🇸✌🏿😎
Mandolin gives the stingung and stretching peal that makes up for it being solely a string instrument and never a percussion instrument.
マンドリンウィンド大好きです。
ところで、ハリーさんは赤が好きなんですね⁉︎😊
Guitars , darn .
Ha! Never heard Rod's speaking voice before! Not quite as raspy...
Hi harri cud you please do a Christmas moore song nancy Spain or cliffs of doneen would be my choice. Irish Mark
Banjo
Early Rod is best Rod. I couldn't get into his later, crooner style.
Love this song, and love this version. Hated the attention seeking "look at me" idiots in the audience who can't allow such masterful musicians to have even one moment of dramatic silence in a song without interjecting their juvenile "Woo Hoo" zoo noises. You can take the newer Rod. I'll take classic Rod any day: Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story, Never a Dull Moment ...
They left the most poignant verse out!
Rod 's fault , he forgets Lyrics all the time or changes them.he gets away with it cause he's Rod Stewart!!

back ground players ?
been drinkin'?
This is a little slow, play the original...it has a real mandolin playing.
I’m not a big fan of live performance sound quality. The layers you miss sometimes really stands out. This isn’t too bad, but for others the recorded version is the way to go.
