How do you know what's available if you don't ask? Wasn't that the amount rumored to have been offered to Joyce Edwards? How much value did 22 at Iowa add to the Iowa brand?
@@xcharles4376that was a lie. lol they didn’t offer Joyce anything and that’s different if it was offered rather than asked by the recruit. That rumor was only there to see if Dawn would back off from recruiting her
Good for Kim. Take a look at high school rankings over the years. Most don't make an impact. I'm a fan of Staley and Kelvin Sampson on the men's side. They've both said parents are the most important part of the recruiting process. And culture and fit are important. Dawn didn't let the Fulwiley hysteria overrun her program ;-) .
Why should an incoming player not try to get as much NIL money as they can? The transfer portal essentially means players are. Unrestricted free agents.
@@wesleyquan6581 You are not making an argument against what I wrote. Some players had substantial NIL deals in high school. If a player can get a million dollars (or any amount you want to name) in NIL money before ever playing a college game, more power to them. That is the reality of NIL and essentially unrestricted free agency via the transfer portal. I am not arguing that she somehow "deserves" or has "earned" a million dollars in NIL money or that she ever will. But seriously, why pass up a million now if she can get it? Of course she might not be able to get anything close to a million. If she cannot get NIL money to match her expectations, then she will be forced to lower her expectations.
LSU needs replacements for Angel & Aneesah in my opinion. They need to adress the Center & Forward positions as they have stacked up on Guards. Also Chavez always gave me the vibe she's gonna stay home in Texas, if you watch her interviews, she's big on family and being home, she's definitely committing to Texas or Texas Tech, I wouldn't sleep on UCLA as they are also good at getting talent.
Please keep in mind that she is a child. None of this is her fault, it is the responsibility of the adults in her life (parents, mentors, coaches etc.) to help guide her. She is under a lot of pressure and has a lot of attention. I wish her very, very well.
I'm confused. Isn't NIL money paid by companies that want to sponsor the athletes? I did not think the schools were directly involved in paying the students.
I’m not even convinced that she will end up being one of the better players in her class. She deserves to be #1 bc she is developmentally further along than the other players in her class. She has gotten significant skill and physical training. Once the other players enroll in universities and gain access to what she has had for years they will quickly close that gap and some will pass her by. No reason that people should be bashing her for asking to get paid huge amounts. The male #1 is making the same request. It’s business!
A million dollars is crazy. Tech might be willing to do it. The Matador Club paid a softball player a million dollars this cycle. Also, Hines is not that good. Won't be a star in college. I believe Somfai has been UConn's top target all along. And I think they may have even convinced her to grow her game at a high school in the united states. I believe that is all them. She is a lock. It would be a major stunner if she chose Duke or Stanford.
South Carolina also had Kaelyn Carroll & Ayla McDowell on a recent visit. Possibility they get one of them. And I agree Chavez’s stay home & commits to Texas.
Whoever saying offer this money is crazy!! She's one injury away from not being available next year. None of these kids are sure things. Sedona Prince initially committed to Baylor got hurt with USA Basketball and transferred to Oregon, having never played for Baylor. With the guards LSU have coming in I'm sure they'll be fine. Besides, if Chavez couldn't defend, she wouldn't have played at LSU anyway. Doesn't matter how offensively gifted she is.
I've been following Women's college Basketball and recruiting heavily since 2003. There are only two players that I can say were absolutely better prospects than Aaliyah Chavez. Also, even if she doesn't get the Mil, start the price out high and weed out the coaches that don't want to play ball.
We have reached the point where administrators, coaches, and students make more money,, a lot more money, than the lowly professors who once were the heart of higher education. Now it's all about the $$$.
Texas Tech might be better and most lucrative for her. The Big 12 is trying to play games in Mexico. Perhaps TT will be willing to travel as opposed to LSU, who mostly stays at home in the non conference. I think someone mentioned in a video a few months ago that AC wanted to highlight her Mexican American heritage. Whoever she plays for could see a huge boost in their fan base with new Mexican American (Latino) fans.
Much respect for Mulkey not paying this unproven girl. Any school willing to spend $1million on any female athlete is an absolute fool! She's a female hoop player, she could leave after the first year, but more importantly SHE'S A FEMALE HOOP PLAYER! Unreal....

Hopefully, he doesn’t interfere too much in her career. It would be a shame to start hearing stories about him butting heads with the coach at whatever college she chooses I also think she stays home in TX
The media knows the ins and outs around Mulkey and history between players & Mulkey. The old school way of doing things is no longer the way. The No. 1 recruit is worth that money. If these colleges lawd player development and claim to be top NIL givers to student athletes but not give these big price tags for top recruits. Unless Mulkey and the Athletic Boosters have inside info not known to the general public, the reason why Mulkey chose to say no to the no. 1 recruit
