Except for in the Camp Nou. Barça was a symbol of resistance to the totalitarian regime. Despite numerous cases of injustice (the ban on signing foreign players imposed on every Spanish team besides Real Madrid (which is how they stole Di Stefano); the famous 11-1 (where Barcelona players and their families were threatened multiple times)), Barça emerged as one of the dominant and trendsetting forces of European football, and remains such today. It is a club that has based its success on producing its own talent (the core of the sextuple-winning side came from La Masia: Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol, Pique, Messi), rather then buying the most sought-after and expensive players from other clubs (Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Beckham, Kaká, Bale, Ronaldo...). It's a club that has earned its success by overcoming incredible setbacks and difficulties rather than being constantly supported by the state and having it the easy way. Is this a good enough explanation?
