Beast is now Highlight, and it remains one of the really best Kpop groups of all time, with a solid discography (they’ve never done a single bad song) and renowned as a vocal powerhouse and for their live stages. They’re the role model too of younger groups like BTS and Seventeen.
For a bit of history, at the end of their 7 years contract they did not renew and the youngest of the group was the one who pitched the idea of going independent and creating their own label (Around Us Entertainment), which they founded at the end of 2016. He's also the one who picked the name Highlight after it was discovered Cube had trademarked Beast and they couldn't use the name for their future activities. Now an additional seven years later this April they came to an arrangement with Cube and now can use both Beast and Highlight officially though they said they will continue using Highlight for future activities. Maybe they are the only group at the moment with two group names and two fandom names 😂 A few other of their famous songs during that time are On Rainy Days (2011 - no MV), Shock (2010), Beautiful (2010), Beautiful Night (2012), Good Luck (2014 - Billboard best kpop song of the year), 12 : 30 (2014), and their debut Bad Girl (2009) In early 2016 when they were still Beast one of the members left due to differences of opinion in the musical direction and they had one comeback as Beast 5 members called Ribbon, on the album Highlight (and yes it is where their current name comes from 😊). They became Highlight as a 5 members group, and their second debut/comeback Plz Don't Be Sad in 2017 was extremely well received and successful, they did an album repackage and released another EP during the year. Then their leader enlisted in summer 2018, the remaining 4 released an EP for the fans and toured until they also had to enlist. In 2019 the rapper - who had also been their main songwriter and producer since 2012- was found to be peripherally involved in the chat room scandal and left the group. They came back from the military as a 4 member group in 2021 with Not The End which is a very spring like pretty synthpop song written by their main dancer and now main songwriter / producer and have been pretty much as active as younger generations since, they have released 1 album and 3 EPs as a group plus two of the members have released full solo albums and one an EP, and they also have been touring in Asia, performing at festivals or universities here and there etc.
