There is nothing you can’t make an engrossing piece. Thank you, Pierre.
thank you!
Is there a way to completely remove the lock mechanism or bypass the Ignition switch altogether? Theft of my 1985 w201 diesel is the very least of any of my worries.
Do you have a video showing us the steps removing this ignition system?
I’m getting my car towed tomorrow. The key won’t turn it. We tried WD-40 tilted the steering wheel. Do you have any suggestions before I go spend lots of money to get my key to turn it’s a Subaru outback
On w126 there seems to be 2 types of steering locks: one with the black collar that screws, and one that just pops off. Are these 2 steering locks interchangeable?
so why does turning wheel at angle made a difference?
steering lock cannot engage
My car turns off, then sometimes the tumbler takes a little effort to click it one more notch left (like it’s sticking), then I can pull out the the key. Does that sound like tumbler or the lock mechanism?
tumbler, which is rare, but I would change both. what model do you have?
Thank you for another fantastic and very interesting video Pierre. I have a question which I was wondering if you could answer in a future video. What are your thoughts on the modern obsession with car detailing? Is it something you are interested in, or do you prefer a daily driver to be in good mechanical condition without worrying how clean it is.
Thank you from Martyn in Scotland.
car detailing is something I care little about. there's my answer...
Mercedes Classic with Pierre Hedary that’s good to hear Pierre. It’s something that ruins the enjoyment of Motoring in my opinion, with these detail enthusiasts ignoring car maintenance and preferring to spend their money on ridiculous priced waxes. Keep the fantastic videos coming.
I will do what is necessary to
Ensure the rust is kept off but ceramic this and ceramic that
Forget it...
I grind off the spring loaded steering wheel lock
Does this apply to the w140? should I also park it with the wheel turned at an angle?
it can but not as often. I still would but the 140 does not just lock in the horizontal position.
this has not happened to me YET but when it does i will default to this video
keep your key rings light!
Hi! I have a 124 300ce and the ignition lock tumbler have completly locked up on me. The car is a 90model and has the wire transmission lock thing to the Shifter so i cannot Even move the car. Is there an easy way to loosen this manually making it more easy to transport, or do i have to drill out the whole ignition steeringlock first to get accsess to slide the wire?
the easiest point to gain access to move the shifter is at the shift mechanism.
Thanks! Thats helps. I appreciate it
Ahhhhhh the old steering lock, our failed due to a bad ignition switch in our 82 300 D or 81, cant remember. New ignition switch and it solved the steering lock problems and the engine shut off problem.
the switch froze? or did you have the blower motor issue?
@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 Well it started with the engine not wanting to shut off intermittently, then the steering wheel would randomly lock up .
@@mercedesclassicswithpierre1753 no blower motor issue though
What? Explain about parking 126 with steering wheel horizontally?
ok, the steering wheel only locks horizontally...I usually park with my wheel vertical so it does not engage the steering lock.
BTW people if your driving an older Mercedes with vacuum locks and they don't work, you should fix them immediately.
i'm curious as to why this might be so necessary...
i just never locked mine and never kept anything in it i didn't want stolen
The video production value ruins this and makes you less legitimate. Thomas has to work on the editing a lot more.
