Если у автора этюды задумывались как симфонические, то у Шиффа они вышли скорее для камерного состава. Тем более, что сыграны и без дополнительных, и даже без двух основных, что слышу впервые. Для Шиффа романтики не частые гости, тем интереснее было услышать реализацию. Очень много интересного, свежего и оригинального. Неудивительно: большой мастер
András Schiff plays here the second edition (Leipzig, 1852). In this, Schumann had changed the title "Études symphoniques" of the first edition of 1837 to "Études en forme de variations" and omitted two etudes (Nos. 3 and 9) which were not actually variations; he had also revised the piano writing in some respects.
