Grazie maestro Pollini.
If you refer to what he does in the middle of the finale, that it's on the first edition published by Schumann, which is a shame that only few pianist play.
The posthumous Variations are, arguably, more beautiful than the rest of the Etudes, but inserting them in the middle(after Etude V, and in the order V,I,II,III,IV) as Pollini does here is not such a good idea! Apart from that, this is a splendid interpretation!

Interesting he puts posth var 4 right before posth var 1, unlike studio. Wondering which order sounds better.
Improvising in Schumann is quite strange

@ Yes, I realized that now. It sounds improvised since I never heard it before!
Schumann was one of the greatest improvisers of all time. Many of his piano works have the quality of a master of the art of improvisation
💘
Monster of a performance! I hear a lot of Michelangeli's influence in this.
It’s always better not to cmpare an artist with another one.
@@norahdealmeida5847 in this case it's fine, as Pollini studied with him.
Andante espressivo!
Far superior to his studio recording.
Brilliant. Recommend also a listen to Lisitsa version

He makes a horrible mistake in # 5
You know better than Pollini?
@@raymondgood6555 really?I think he play it right,do you mean that repeat place,I think it just sounds massed up but that is the right note
@@thepianocornertpc Not a helpful comment. If your opinion differs, do you have any real thoughts beyond Appeal to Authority?
@@raymondgood6555 And you were perceptive enough to notice! Good job!

what do you know that i don't know?
#4 way to fast for my taste. Unschumannesque interpretation.
