Massive open water crossings on snowmobiles!!! Filmed by helicopter on Georgian Bay, Ontario Canada. Fueled by Redbull...Check it out! Purchase the DVD @ www.shopmidland.com/thomaswillard
I lost a few sleds doing this good times and yes a very sick video an XCR 800 is the most powerful triple I've ever had the privilege to drive. That and a Mach Z 800 triple are So Powerful but very high maintenance motor's but I'm a Very Confident Self Taught Mechanic
Actually, we did have a cop visit us when we landed a the helicopter on a beach basically in the middle of town. He said he came over because he saw a truck half on the beach and half on the ice (unloading the sleds) ...then he saw a helicopter land. When we described what we were doing he thought it was pretty cool and just left us alone.
@thundershots....It's a band call Flud. Can't remember the exact track. The were a local Barrie Ontario band from the late 90's and sadly are no longer together. One of the riders in the video is a good friend of one the the band members, Jamie and they allowed us to use there tracks for the DVD. Jamie also designed the cover art for the DVD. They were a wicked band.
These are triple 800 polaris sleds, capable os up to 120 miles per hour on radar,i wouldnt attemp this on a sled that didnt have the power to do a hundred even tho they do slow down to 40 or 50 at times, you need the acceleration ,its go-home bay area 1
fountainfan Sick video seen this when I was in high school! Should do another with better cameras if there still riding! You guys are awesome and make Ontario proud #sudburybornandraised
snowmobiles have a scooped belt that gives it propultion and if at high enough speeds it scoops the water up and gives it enough propution to keep above the water. However if ou dont maintain speed you will sink.
I've only just closed my mouth after picking my jaw off the floor. I was convinced it was fake, till that guy sank! Speechless Think I will stick to my Jetski
Well....This is great video... !!! All family and friends love it . Quebec snowmobile in the snow...the best... On water...its you !...LOL Have a great day all !!
one of if the not the coolest video ever...love the northern star. I think I remember that Name The Sleds in this video will go down in Polaris history.
Yeah he got his sled back, and got it to start up. I have this on video. They go from Midland, Ont to Sans Souci, Ont which is about a 30-40min boat ride from my house on Georgian Bay.
Depends on the size of paddles on your sled, a summit with 2inch lugs can go 20mph and stay a float, my 800mxz with 1.25 is...well i wouldnt go less than 40 but i've started from a dead stop on the edge of the ice...
Nothing like that year on Georgian bay still have 3 feet of black ice!! They have sent 2 ice breakers to break up the harbour but both stopped in there tracks out by hope island!! 2019!!
pull the plugs and muffler, turn it over a bunch of times till all the water is out, replace fluids, start. You can slow right down to almost nothing and still be able to save it.
I produced this video. It was shot in Midland Ontario Canada April 1st 2006. The full April Fools Vol. 2 DVD can be purchased in my online store at: shopmidland(dot)com/thomaswillard $14.99 CDN + Shipping
@PolarisMan1995 Yep we got it back that day. Luckily we he was fairly close to a rock out crop, and there happened to be a guy in a scoot close by to help.
I remember watching this when the video first came out on UA-cam 14 years ago and yet today, it still blows my mind. Recovery must have been a bitch tho.
yo this vid is sick i find it easier to ride on the water during the winter then summer, i ride in the summer across the lake on my snowmobile and the freaking waves from the boats is a pain in the ass
@Fraser2222 all the riders are using stock tracks...not sure exactly what size....1" seems to come to mind but not sure. I know they were stock tracks though.
11 years old and still one of the coolest videos on UA-cam.

Running whit the devil. Ice water iceberg goose ,guys of the north have crazy ride 👍🏼👍🏼👑👑
if your engine stutters, or you get an air bubble in your gas line you sink, anything but full rev will make you lose momentum and sink to the bottom.
I like the fact that they are all Polaris's and tripples to boot.....Awsome!!!!
Still one of my favourite UA-cam videos, all these years later.
CANADA BABY !
I just water crossed for my first time on a 1989 indy 650 and im 12

2007 is the year I moved out of Midland to go to school.
Still have family there.

There was a guy here in Maine that puddle jumped for 1.5 miles in the middle of the night! (Meanwhile, his friend got hypothermia and drowned.)
@Fraser2222 all the riders are using stock tracks...not sure exactly what size....1" seems to come to mind but not sure. I know they were stock tracks though.
@onestarstudio thanks
