The Heartless Knee Striker Who Flew In The Clinch - Langsuan Explained

- The Muay Thai Library: / muay-thai-uncut-7058199 In the golden age of Muay Thai, Langsuan Phanyutthapum was a Muay Khao Monster, the embodiment of encroaching danger with a clinch like a venus fly trap. A forward-moving stadium terminator, fans knew him as the Heartless Knee Striker, but opponents knew him as Mr. Mean. And, no doubt, he lived up to both names.

Langsuan had insane knees, the kind that everyone does on the bag to feel cool but that almost no one can pull off in real life. Treating his competitors like a piece of gym equipment he would use them to support all of his weight, jumping up into positions that would be physically impossible under normal circumstances. All to load up his beautiful, painful knees. It’s rare a fighter can get away with loading up on their strike as much as humanly possible and get away with it. - Спорт
I love this video so much. Thank you for putting it together.
you're the best Sylvie
Thanks for your work Sylvie 🙏🙌🙌
These are The two channels I always point the young fighters in our gym to. Sylvie’s videos and the modern martial artist’s breakdowns are absolute goldmines!! So cool to see a form of collab between you two
Sylvie and modern martial artist channels are both brilliant informative viewing.
Very cool to see that the Australian style karate i used to learn, in 1998, had many of these exact techniques. They helped bring Muay Thai to Australia.
Yup Lyoto Machida was known for his devastating knees. And was a Karate fighter.
We need a Cedric doumbe breakdown
I second that!
I don't understand why the UFC fast tracked Pereira but ignored Doumbe thanks in part to the Frenchy fight organization.

I see Langsuan and I click.. many top tier golden age fighters have said he was by far their toughest fight
Oh hey, Sylvie Von Douglas showed up :D Another amazing martial arts content creator. Absolutely wild how many fights Muay Thai fighters do in a year.
Cheers, thanks for the shout out.
Woah this was unexpected 😂 love it you gotta do one on Oley Kiatoneway the man was the matrix in motion or Karuhat Sor Supawan you used him in this vid getting kneed top master deserves the same respect
For sure !
Hugeeeeee fan and Patreon of “The Muay Thai Library”! Highly recommend for anyone wanting to learn more Muay Thai greats beyond the well known Muay Thai #NakMuay greats of present time. Sylvie Von Douglas-Ittu takes 1-on-1 lessons with the Krus/Masters. Incredibly educational and informative
Thanks for this, I didn't even know this guy existed. Also, body punches in Muay Thai seem infrequent (or am I wrong?) but he was working them in like it was nothing. His pace and body killing reminds me of Henry Armstrong, just in Nak Muay form.
Yeah the guys whole style was crazy. After doing this for years it's really rare I see a fighter that surprises me with their techniques. But I was randomly suggested a highlight reel of him and the second I saw the way he kneed I knew I wanted to make a video.
@@TheModernMartialArtistcheers dude banger 🙏🏽
Might be because the opponent could simply clinch up and smother you if you're in range to throw hooks to the body
@@TheModernMartialArtist Do you know the channel Muay Thai Scholar ? They've got lots of highlights of Golden Age and contemporary Nak Muay.
I'll be honest, I had absolutely no idea about different martial arts. I subbed because I enjoy boxing and loved you gave Duran his real, deserved recognition. Your chanel has opened my eyes, actually.
Excellent video.
That brings me back. Langsuan was almost my single inspiration for how to knee in the clinch when I was young.
Thank you.
As an ametour martian artist, I love your breakdowns. Right now, I'm training boxing and Muay thai without competition goals. Nevertheless, whenever is possible, i take a couple of hours to translate or summarize your analysis and post them on our training centre Wpp group, linking what you show with what our instructor teaches us!
Keep up the good work!! Stay safe, stay healthy!
I didn't know you guys have mt over there on mars

thank you for doing this and thank you Sylvie for everything you do
I appreciate it!
Hope you keep doing more Muay Thai videos !!!
The fully folded knee makes sense from a mechanical perspective because it minimizes the length of the leg thus reducing its rotational inertia. This means you get faster rotation with the same torque.
Absolutely 10/10 unreal what u do keep it up g
Great video, thanks David!
Amazing Video.🙌🙌 Langsuan, what a Muay-Khao Monster 🔥🔥
Dude whta You do are great analytic information great job
"This guy throws a lot of knees, we need to come up with a good nickname for him"
"Wait...., I'VE GOT IT."
I Love The Videos on the Muay Thai Guys
Love the Muay Thai content!
I feel like this would be an enjoyable career watching fights martial arts and researching fighters
Best knee striker I’ve ever seen!
Can you do a video on Namsaknoi? Or Anantasak
Hey, great video, if youd like to do more Muay Thai breakdowns, may u suggest the Davy brothers? Especially Nokweed. If youre going for modern fighters i think Superlek is an obvious choice since youve made a video on Rodtang
Great video, you should do masato next
Love to see a Noiri Masaaki version of this!
Agreed.
I'd love to see a Holmes vs Norton breakdown
I saw the Holmes/Norton fight live on TV.
The 15th round of this fight was one of the greatest rounds of boxing I have ever seen.
Jim Brown once said, "Fatigue makes cowards of us all."
On that night, these two men pushed past human limits and gave everything they had. There were no cowards in that ring, only heroes.
YOO another Muay Thai video ! Any chances of making more kickboxing breakdowns too ?
Yes I'll likely be putting out another of the old school Grand Prix videos next month. And covering a few more legends soon too.
@@TheModernMartialArtist Will we get content on former K-1 MAX fighters and some contemporary strikers in ONE, modern K-1and other promotions too ? Or am I asking too much for the time being ?
Hey tmma when are you planning to cover k1 max fighters such as masato or holkzen?its a shame as there is alot to talk about with them
Bro I love that you chose Sugar Ray Leonard of all boxers. Legend and an interview he claims JKD or the notes turned into the book I think called that tao of Jeet kun do ; was instrumental in teaching him stricking.Hong Kong Western boxing champion , his discrption are very boxing friendly. The greatest American amateur boxer if all time (some believe it is Aaron Pryor) was heavily a Bruce Lee or JkD influenced style. Think of his speed and style a tribute to the Legend. JkD will not be the same in 1968 and 1970. Looking forward to video Master Wong!
you should make a video on monzon or andre ward thanks
Love
He really was the…bees knees!
…I’ll show myself out…
Can you do a break down of Veeraphol?
We need a don fry also a tank abbot breakdown and style explained
in Street Fighter theres a fighter called Adon a Mui Thai practitioner along with his rival Sagat i think Capcom the company who created the games was inspired by him.
Adon's gameplay is heavily based on knees, so probably is truth
I hope one day youll do videos famous Savate Kick Boxers! Like Francois Pennacchio who beat Ramon Dekkers.
Seeing guys like this just makes me wish I was taller, same with Alexis Arguello. They have a much easier time striking.
Just seeing his knee connect against his opponents gives me a feeling of their pain. 😂
Badass
His name is misspelled in the video description.
Where you direct your vision when watch boxing fight do you look at both fighters hands, shoulder, face or what?
Because there's someone said to me to look at both fighter shoulder when watching boxing fight but i feel Dizziness
Have you ever considered doing some videos with the emphasis on the martial arts themselves rather than the martial artists? I don’t know your knowledge base but there’s a lot of content to be had there, even on a superficial level to introduce people to them, and if you were able to consult with some master practitioners it could be a fantastic basic learning tool for imaginative fighters.
Just an idea, looking forward to seeing you hit the milli mark Mr Christian.
A lot of these clinches would've been getting stopped asap these days.
I cant imagine how the opponent feels the next day. That looks so painful.
do a video of how francis ngannou took tyson
Looks SOOOO painful
It’s actually very effective. Using the side of the knee to hit an opponent’s liver is devastating 🥶
Was hoping you would do a video on the long guard. I was recently reading through your book about it and at least to my knowledge I haven't seen you do a video on it. Even though I'm kind of short for my weight class I used long guard quite a bit. In your book you depict it with having one hand back I personally kind of used both hands forward I feel like I've seen Joe calzagi do that I've heard it called The mummy stance before... Regardless wanted to request a video.
Please do a Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquiao breakdown please 🥺?.
What’s muay cow?
So you know how in boxing they have different subtypes of boxers depending on how they fight? (Infighters, outboxers, brawlers, etc.) Same for muay thai, except they go by their preferred tactic. Muay Khao are fighters that like using their clinches and knees (Khao, meaning knee in thai).
@@mendiola896 thanks! I was sure that I was misspelling it
Benny the jet his final fight with the undefeated legend and thy robbed him
What if muay thai had weight classes similar to boxing 🤔
900th like 😉
Horrifying . Thai boxing is something else .
