This is great...thank you so much. I have this exact unit. What is the unused keyhole cut? It looks like something that would be used for hanging the unit...

I found out later that keyhole is to easily pass the fuel pump wires through. I ended up cutting and rejoining mine, but if you put it through there prior to bolting the heater to the floor you can save yourself any cutting of the wires.

You should have removed the vinyl from under the steel plate and also used heat proof sealant when you stuck the plate to the floor.

Yes you are probably right John, however we have had no odd smells and there is no visible issues yet and we've run through quite a few tanks now. One day when i'm bored i'll take it out and have a look.

Is it really wise to install something like this into an inclosed area made from wood? What could go wrong......I would say the same if it was a high end unit.

I've just had the heater running flat out for 2 hours - the unit is still room temperature. The vent that the air comes out is much warmer than the actual unit. The exhaust outlet is the only area which really gets hot, with some shielding around the wood it seems to be fine - i will be monitoring this closely until i'm comfortable. Some people wrap the exhaust just to be safe.

berko79, I think that flange will give ample clearance between the exhaust pipe and the wood. It also makes a clean-looking installation. It surprises me that someone doesn’t make a round flange mount for these heaters.

@@ppainterco some of the heaters have an inbuilt flange on the plate.
