    We cover some important steps to take when installing one of these units as well as a couple of handy tips and tricks.
    Stay tuned for Episode 12 where we complete all of the plumbing in our old van and plumb hot and cold water to our shower, inside sink and outdoor kitchen.
    Any questions regarding this project, drop them in the comments below or, reach us on our socials @jossandell.
    Cheers!

    I've watched a lot of these diesel heater vids. This is by far the most informative install video. All the minor details people normally skip you didn't. ie the fuel plug through the base plate, the bolt and cable in the fuel tank etc. Thanks.

    Thank you for a great video, I found it most helpful as I have been contemplating where to start sawing/ drilling all afternoon and you have given me some great ideas. Only thing i can add is I hope you sealed the edges of the initial hole you cut through the floor or moisture might get into it?

    If you haven’t yet, get yourself a Co2 monitor. I have a Webasto unit at 4 times the price and still wouldn’t be without a Co2 monitor. Cheap investment and you will sleep easy and wake up 👍

    I was really hoping for footage of how you hooked up the wiring. What's your thoughts on the heater 10 months on ??

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  4 дні тому

      The wiring is pretty straightforward. It comes with an inline fuse already installed so it’s just a matter of hooking up the positive and negative wires. I ended up cutting off the fuse it came with and wired it into my existing fuse block and fused it there.
      We’ve had the heater a little over a year now and no complaints at all, it’s been fantastic 👌

    Did you extend the exhaust pipe or did you go with the short one. that came with the unit

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  Місяць тому

      Just used the one that came with the unit. A longer exhaust pipe would have been good though as I would have liked to of positioned the exhaust so it’s pointing out the other side of the van facing away from the door side

    I reviewed your video and found it to be quite informative. However, I have a question regarding the thermostat. Is it integrated into the display, and if so, does its proximity to the heater duct have any impact on its functionality?

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  22 дні тому +1

      Thank you. Good question, I’m pretty sure it’s built into the control panel so I guess keeping it away from any heat sources would make it more true and accurate. We had to position ours in pretty close proximity to the duct. We also carry a little digital temp gauge in the van to see the ambient temp is and when the heater is on the van definitely is a little cooler up the bed end away from the heater and warmer up the dinette end where the heater is. It works wonderfully though and it makes the van super toasty and warm.

    • @simonshipcott3275
      @simonshipcott3275 21 день тому +1

      Thanks for the reply. I know there are limits to where you can put the control panel, I've seen that in a bunch of insulation videos. I'm installing my diesel heater today and I've used a lot of ideas from the videos, including yours. One thing I'm gonna do that I thought of myself is buy a Wiltshire silicone mat from Spotlight. It can handle temps from -50 to 220 degrees Celsius, so I'm gonna use the metal plate as a template and cut out two silicone mats to put between the floor and the plate. I reckon that'll stop the heat from getting to the floor, create a good seal, and make it easier to take the heater out and fix it if I need to.

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  21 день тому

      @@simonshipcott3275 that would be handy watching a bunch of videos and take away the best points from each one. That mat sounds like a pretty good idea too, would be keen to see how that works for you. Hope it all works out well for you 👍

      Thanks Yoshi! The heater is still going strong, we absolutely love it and it got used a lot on our lap of Aus and never missed a beat. Made the van super cosy on the cold days.

    Loving the videos guys. Just wondering if you guys have done any videos about the bushwakka awning you’ve got on the van. Are there any specific reasons you went with that one and how are you finding it?

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  10 місяців тому

      Thanks heaps James! We didn’t end up doing a video on the install but the reason we went with the bushwakka was for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it was a bit more affordable over a fiamma awning that we originally wanted, we also bought this bushwakka 180 second hand but virtually brand new for around $600. Secondly, when it’s opened up it covers the whole side of the van and can be used free standing as well. We love it, it’s been a fantastic awning. We plan on filming a bit of a walkthrough video of the van which we will cover all of the features etc 👍

    • @jossandell
      @jossandell  13 днів тому

      @@robito1990 the intake for the diesel heater in mounted outside of the van tucked up against the chassis at the front of the van. I also added that foam insulation for water pipes around the intake pipe as it’s only made of a really thin material and dents easily from rocks on gravel roads. We have no vent in the floor as it sucks from outside. It all works awesome 👍
