    I lost several Ventures in Galente Space to the permit folks. Lost an Endurance being sleepy. Lost lvl 4 security ships being sleepy too.

      Fr 🗣, I have lost a few Mackinaws just for being sleepy.

    Brand new to EVE (other than 6 months of EVE Echos which was -_-) and been binging your videos! Love your content, thank you!

    Hey man. Just wanted to say I love your videos. As a newer player you’ve really helped me progress into mining

    No mining losses so far, I take the paranoid approach to it after watching your vids.
    Even jumping a porp into null for some rare ore drone mining has been no problem, keep the rat wrecks clear and be ready to cloak up if dscan shows trouble.

    Big fan of the channel and devoted follower. I haven’t had any trouble with ganking while mining. I’m also pretty risk averse, teathering up when my spidey sense triggers and taking a break. I think it also helps that I primarily mine a fair distance from any of the trade hubs and run my compressed ore to market in a crane using a varied and irregular schedule.

    I agree with you. Min maxing takes the fun out of the activity, so I also rather focus on the 1 thing I'm doing

    Ways to avoid hisec ganking -
    * Ask which corps and alliances are known gankers, and add them as contacts, setting their standings to -10. If you are in your own corp, add them as a corporat contact, so all your members automatically have those contacts visible.
    * Think about WHERE you are mining. Use Dotlan, look at the ship/pod kills in the last 24 hours. Also look at the number of jumps in that same period. If there are a lot of kills, look up that system in Zkillboard. Are the "offenders" in a ganker corp, or were the participants involved in a wardec?
    *Think about WHAT you are mining. Are you mining ice? You have a bigger target on your back already. Also consider where you are on grid. Don't park yourself away from the pack. And don't park within 2000m of anything else, if you have a cloaking device fit, as it won't activate.
    * Have escape bookmarks set up. To set them up, warp towards a celestial body in the system, and during the warp, hit shift+b, and hit enter. You can go back and rename it or move it to organized folders. If a gank crew shows up in system, you can warp to safety and they won't be able to find you without using combat probes.
    *How is your ship fit? Is it fit for max tank, max yield, or a shit fit? And what hull are you flying? Max yield is great and all, but you might have fewer or even no losses, if you fit for max tank in say a procurer. It's always risk v reward. And max anything is based on your skills at any given time.
    *Don't fit expensive and tempting items, like ORE mining lasers, if you aren't willing to lose them. You'll never know if the venture that just warped in has a ship scanner, and is somebody's scout.
    * Don't be afraid of a fight. Also train up combat skills, drones can be extremely useful for a miner. Whether it's taking care of rats, or taking down someone that decides you're going to be an easy kill in lowsec, if you can't get away, fight.
    * D-scan is your friend.
    I always laugh when I hear someone say, "Way back, in like 2020." I've not been around since launch, but within the first couple years after launch. I've lost ships to ganks, as I've almost always been focused on mining. I didn't know enough about the game to properly defend myself, whether through actual defensive combat, or intel. I quit the game a few times, because I just didn't know how to deal with things. But you NEVER truly quit EVE. At some point, I learned about tankier mining ships, like the procurer. No more sitting in a battleship, and if I was paying attention, I could get off grid a lot quicker. And then I got distracted by something while in lowsec, and someone tried to kill me. I dropped my shiny new hobgoblin II's, and hit him with my warp scrambler I fit in a small bit of madness, and killed him. My first pvp kill in the game, and I was elated.
    I took what experience, started reaching out to people and asking questions. One random guy in Jita local sent me a private convo request, and readily answered many of my questions. I learned a lot from him in just a handful of minutes. I added him as a contact in the hopes of gleaning more information from him, and possibly accepting his invitation to try out nullsec, but I never got the chance. RIP Vile Rat. I only knew him for those few minutes, but it was a pivotal meeting. I eventually did go out to null, and I picked the wrong corp to do it with. What a shitshow. They were disorganized, and I was just not ready with the basic skills to make it. I lost my shirt, and went back to hisec. It was a couple of years after a lengthy break from the game, that I was enticed to go back to null.
    I mined in a cloaky orca until I could afford and properly fit a rorqual. I mined a single rorqual until I had two other accounts with pilots that could properly fit and fly rorquals, and I could afford two more. I saw others in that time not properly prepared to handle null roam ganks, so I skilled up a fourth account to fly a super for overwatch. I leased exclusive mining rights to four moons, and had them set up so that I always had something to mine based on my work schedule. But I didn't just mine, I also set up another account to participate in the coalition's pvp roams and wars. That character can fly interceptors to command destroyers to stealth bombers to dreads, but in the end, I found myself more often than not sitting in a Prospector, cloaked up, ready to light a covert cyno, or just cloak camping an enemy's mining system. Some of my favorite roams were shit fit nights. We killed a lot of PanFam one night while we were all in Thoraxes, until their response fleet managed to catch us in a system next to one of their jump gates. Even that was a good fight, though we lost to a man.
    Last year I came back to EVE for a bit. I left when they began to mess with null mining a few years ago. I liquidated everything, and moved back to hisec. Anyways, I got complacent one day, took out an Endurance to do some ice mining, and looked away for half a second, and missed the red spike in local. Lost my ship and a nearly full load of ice. This time, I just laughed, rather than gnashing my teeth and tearing out hair like I may have done in years past. it was just a kill mail, and one that I was at fault for generating. I just recently came back again. I really like some of the more recent changes to hisec mining, such as orca and porpoise compression, I had to learn new skills, and change up my fit. I'm finally getting around to setting up a PI character. Once that's done, I'll make a third on my omega account, to do the same. but I'm also getting an itch to go back to null. I may have to dust off my pvp character, and hey, KarmaFleet is recruiting.
    Fly dangerous!

    I lost 2 orca I think to the exact same issue years apart lol. I quit a few years came back and did the same dang thing lmao. What I did was try to mine while my normal mining system was invaded by a pirate stronghold.
    I have since learn to check where they are before I even undock an orca lol. All I could think at the time is that I was flying above my paygrade the first time at least because I didn't even know invasions were a think then and I had no business even being in an orca before knowing that lol. The second time was just me being dumb and lazy to check and I kind of forgot invasions were a thing cuz I took a break so long. I lost a few retrievers probably to multibox miners that wanted the ice field to themself. Now I only fly highly tanked orca or the cheaper high shield miner, cant remember the name. I kind of bank on people not thinking its work to gank something so highly tanked and so cheap and I use a 2nd pc on alpha account to hall cans I drop so my main never leaves the field. I find if you can not have to leave the field often to dock and unload then the shield tank miners aren't to bad.
    Also depending on time of the day and week for example I would bring out my orca on off times and on evenings and weekends when most the 9-5 days influx players play I would swap to my shield tank ship. Especially on event weekends lol.

    One question that i have is, is it more time efficent to mine for pyerite or mine something else to sell for the pyerite?

  • @ragerblade82
    @ragerblade82 Місяць тому

    The permit people been causing problems on weekends other than that. I rarely lose one. The permit guys really tried to take my skiff in high sec . So you are right about that.
    Also I am maxed out on mining for high sec it is nice, but part of me wants to do more with it. I love my Mackinaw, but part of me wishes one more tier higher ya know? Like a super miner with drones.

      @ericg7183 Місяць тому

      My first pvp kill was in a procurer, defending against a solo gank in lowsec. I don't know why, but I had fit a warp scrambler before I undocked. Boy was he surprised when my hob II's got into his hull and he couldn't warp away. I learned how to fit it better, and then as soon as I could, I got into a skiff. Back when I used to run several accounts for orca supported mining, the actual miners were all in skiffs.

    i know you have covered this before, but i'm lazy tonight, what is better to sell, raw ore or reprocessed ore?

    • @nierkiuz2
      @nierkiuz2 Місяць тому

      Depends on your reprocessing skills, more important is to compress I think, that bumps up the price of raw materials quite a bit.

    • @marcohorodnichev9489
      @marcohorodnichev9489 Місяць тому

      Also depends on where you are reprocessing. In high sec it usually is better to sell compressed ore.

    I miss Eve sometimes. I have a 100m+ indy character that i trained over the years.. And training into Indy stuff is not fun, but i spent years training into it. Then Eve decided to change fundamental gameplay and basicly made my years of training worthless. So i quit the game.

    • @john200871
      @john200871 27 днів тому

      I've been indy for 10+ years and they made big changes to industry a few years back, it was tough to adapt so I also stepped away. I took a 2 year break and came back, I've enjoyed relearning and figuring out a new production plan.
      If you think about coming back, reach out in game. Our Corp will help you, search "Spaceshot Industries"

    Haven't played in years, but I've lost several mining ships to random players showing up in fully outfitted combat ships to just murder me as fast as possible, not caring if they lose their ships or even if I have anything valuable for them.
    Basically the reason I quit playing, just got tired of having to be constantly paranoid and on high alert just because I wanted to mine and relax.

    • @Mcappo
      @Mcappo Місяць тому

      If you lost so many ships you quit maybe get back into the game and learn how to spot the gankers.
      Watch local, Dscan, make contact standing for corps alliances and individual players. Stay aligned and focus on the game. Don’t afk mine!
      Hope you come back!

    • @ericg7183
      @ericg7183 Місяць тому +1

      @@Mcappo that's a very important piece of advice, don't afk mine. When I have to step away (I fly an orca these days for relaxation) I let siege mode cycle down, pull my mining drones, warp to my perch a few hundred klicks from the belt, and cloak up. From that perch, once I return, I can warp to any single rock on the belt.
