In my experience since the mining update it's no longer worth solo mining in a Orca or Porpoise. For about the same yield as before you now need an industrial core with the extra fuel costs and being unable to move for a certain period, making you much of a target to gankers. Plus mining barges and exhumers received a really good buff, making the Mackinaw the perfect solo mining ship. Unless you're boosting and offering compression to others, it's just not worth solo mining in one.
@@JaredWilliamScott Mackinaw if far and away the best choice in almost all applications. Though bringing out a Covetor or even Hulk into a pub fleet isnt a bad choice.
@@JaredWilliamScott both the Mackinaw and Hulk are great options. Hulk if you have boost and compression and are able to unload regularly. Mackinaw has less yield than the Hulk, but due to its large ore hold you can go longer without having to compress your ore and barely ever have to unload. So it's a question if you want max isk or more relaxed mining.
I like to fly solo fleet with Porp as boost for whatever other mining ship I’m flying. A Porp with medium drones and DDAs is great for boosting shields on a Skiff with DDAs & Medium drones to clear rats in nullsec Mercoxit anomalies.
Just do some recon for a few days on systems you like. I've found a great .8 sec system 2 jumps from low sec that is pretty much ignored by most people because it's off the main path. I can hang out here all day and maybe see 10 people come through
I don't recall hearing you say what the m3 per minute you mine with this setup. I understand it's not profitable per hour, but I build ships and need 50 million m3 of Tritanium a month, among the other high sec minerals. So I am skilling my alt into a Porp. The Low / Null Sec minerals are easier because I spend 2 hours a day "gun mining", pretty much reprocess the modules from dead belt rats after I pick out what I can use. That's usually enough to cover materials for a mining barge or two.
I use to love solo drone mining with porpoise, but it really seems not fun at all now without any mining drone yeild buff, tbh it's sux if you use it as mining ship instead of support ship.
Nice vid yet again thanks. Solo fleet on Bistot or ark would be awesome. Setup dangers how to use compression and burst under such circumstances. Cheers
I could actually put 110k ehp tank on my porp... it sh*tted on my yield (i was using drone augment rigs before with ~66-70k tank), but idk what to prefer really. Obv everyone says tank, but idk how many catalysts it would survive with like 66-70k ehp vs 110k ehp
Why couldn't one mulitbox with a Propoise and an Orc with their Shield boosters on so that they are boosting each other's shield tanks? Would this not seriously make the fleet gank proof?
Unless that porp can get popped within 15 seconds, I wouldn't worry about "rats" ,sounds to me you don't want the hassle of releasing drones to deal with the npc's. 😴😴😴😴
100k isk/minute = 6mil/h, might aswell have the pc turned off. Seriously, this is the dumbest way of playing, in 20 minutes you gained back what that porpise mined for 10 hours in a active mining ship.
Love to see the different things people do in this game. All I do is pvp but I like to watch this stuff while hauling ships

What would you suggest if you join a public mining fleet? Which barge?

@@JaredWilliamScott Mackinaw has a bit more EHP than the Hulk, but the Hulk is quicker to align.
Why is the Mack a better solo miner than the Hulk? Ore hold size?
Finally, someone who mines like me, cheap, for me it's venture, prospect, or porpoise, my orca collects dust nowadays.
I never really saw the porpoise of this ship.
The porp surprises me everytime that i fly it, 7.5 second align time is nutty! Great for boosting ventures/expa frigs in low sec if you have a guard
Thank you for this video, I've been saving ISK for the Porpoise for .9 & 1.0 HS.

Damn. Now I need to rethink my plans. Thanks. Useful info as usual.😊
I have been too sleepy to mine this last month. I do like to take it easy and mine while listening to the background music.
Did I read that right, it was just over 2m ISK in about 20 minutes?
Having done quite a bit of solo porp mining that sounds about right. It's not very profitable, but it is very chill and relaxing
@@KILLASAURUSFLEX it sounds relaxing until someone figures out you're there and brings their friends to make it very not-relaxing 😂
@@TheLime-wd3yu true lol I do it quite often in highsec and I'm generally left alone, but you never know
@@TheLime-wd3yu I have only mined in 1.0 HS for the last 3 weeks and have not seen a single baddy.

Sry my friend but this fitting ist Bad.
please don´t always repeat "the Porpoise is at small cost....". Please also mention the immense cost of skills for her !!!!
