Hi, thanks very much for your lesson. I heard no liaison when you said 'Ils vont-au Japon'. Could you please explain about that?
Liaisons after a verb are optional. If I was talking naturally I would do it but when I teach I speak slowly so sometimes I don't add it. Hope it helps 🙂

So why cant you say: Ils sont chez moi/ ma maison or nous sommes chez la maison
You can say chez moi, but la maison doesn't work. It will be à la maison.
It's just one of the rules you know ;)

For aller "en mer", it means that you are going on a boat.
Aller à la mer, means that you are going on there (like going to the beach)
