French possessive adjectives | Mon Ma Mes - Ton Ta Tes - Etc.

- French possessive adjectives, such as :
- Mon Ma Mes
- Ton Ta Tes
- Son Sa Ses
- Notre Notre Nos
- Votre Votre Vos
- Leur Leur Leurs
are a big part of French grammar. They are more complicated than the simple "My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, Your, Their" in English because of the rules they follow.
In English, possessive adjectives agree to the person, and it's only a bit more complicated when we talk about "His, Her, Its". In French, possessive adjectives agree to the gender of the noun that they follow. But it also depends on the first letter of the following noun. Even if a noun is feminine but it starts with a vowel or an H, we will use MON TON SON.
On top of that, you need to remember that we have a formal and informal speech in French, aka TU and VOUS. This means that if you address your teacher, you will need to use "Votre, Votre, Vos" and not "Ton, Ta, Tes".
Watch the lesson until the end to see each French possessive adjective in a sentence.

Yoooo, LHS year 11 french! Where you at!
I already know this topic ,just posting comment to thank you for those other videos I have watched ,those are really helpful ,keep making video they help for sure .
I would like you to make video on "job opportunities for for french learners".and if there are job opportunities related to french language in Canada .i am majoring in french that's why I am asking mam.
Bonjour Naveen :)
I was thinking about making a video about this topic but I pushed it because of Covid.
Opportunities are everywhere but it all depends if you are in Canada or not?
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane I am from India mam and I am planning to move there and I am a multilingual and at this point I am learning French I have done 3 levels I know most of the grammatical topics but having watched your videos give me something new learn ,I just wanna know job opportunity related french
Sorry Naveen I didn't get a notification for your reply. So here in Canada, if you want a job related to French, you will have to live in the province of Quebec, there you can find any jobs with French.
In other provinces, English is the first language and unless you are a European French speaker and a teacher, you will have a lot of trouble to find a French speaking job only.
There are French speaking communities all over Canada but not for jobs.
@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane thanks mam ,I would still like you to make video on benefits of learning French, about jobs , benefits of taking DELF or TEF exams.anyways I enjoy watching your videos , don't give up you will go higher 👍
Maam , It is really great effort by you . we are promoting your videos for students in Pakistan .
Thank you so much ☺️

Is shelf, masculine or feminine ?
Hi Dylane,
Merci for your lesson. It is great!
However, I could not get the for this particular lesson using the link provided. Kindly look into it.
Merci encore!
Sorry Dylane, I could figure it out from the bundle. So, please ignore the previous post.
Oh perfect :) I will look into the PDF error tho. Thank you for letting me know :)
I just saw a title of a video on UA-cam that said “Fabriquer son fromage maison” and wondered why the third person possessive adjective was used instead of the second person “ton”. Is it because the video is referring to “on” or to mean “making one’s own homemade cheese” and for “on” the rule is to use third person possessive adjectives?
Thank you for all your videos and help.
That's a great question Henrik! The use of SON here is for general titles and explanations. You can find the same in recipes as well :)
Est-ce que je peux voir les questions ou exercices sur ce sujet et les autres sujets que vous avez traité ? Merci!
Gloria si tu veux j'ai un cours de prononciation et un cours de conjugaison, ils sont gratuits. C'est sur ma chaîne :)

Dylane, help me with Possessive Prenouns, le mien, le tien, le sien, le notre, le votre, le leur. La mienne, la tienne, la sienne etc etc when and where do I use them?
Check out my grammar playlist :)
The way you said our confused me for a second
Is Telephone feminine or muscular?
💪
Is the word telephone feminine or masculine? Should the example be
Quelle est votre numero de telephone or quel est votre numero de telephone?
Can u also give a bit more examples?
Merci
Quel ;)
Why would I say "Mes cheveux sont bruns" instead of using mon?
Because in French Hair is plural :)
What confuses me is: what if a female speaking is referring to a man :eg ma Voisine or mon voisin ? Which one do I use is a sentence if I am a female referring to my neighbour who is a man ?? Please clarify. 🙏
Sandra that's a common struggle among French learners ;) But you are looking at it the wrong way. In French, a noun has a gender and nothing around it changes it. So for voisin, if it's a man, mon voisin, if it's a woman, ma voisine. It never changes :)
I like you
Bonjour et ne vous ennuyez pas, si vous pouvez laisser une vidéo pour écrire un article, une lettre ou un email, merci, car beaucoup sont faibles en écriture comme moi🦋🌻❤️
Merci d'avance
Malheureusement mon agenda de videos est déjà complet pour els prochains mois mais peut-être plus tard 🙂
Sorry, my ipad keeps leaving off the “e” on your name.
Don't worry about that, even people in real life get confused about my name, not only iPads 😉
C’est génial. Merci. Minor tip, your pronunciation of the English “our” is off.
Thanks! I still (try to) improve my pronunciation every day, I am slowly getting better 🙃
نب بطل ياب الحج😍
Ton étagére. if we didn't link this 2 words . did the meaning change.
No it wouldn't change the meaning but the pronunciation would be off. I will have a lot of lessons about this subject very soon!
thanks
Hi🫠
Please remove the blue filter. Your video is great otherwise and informational!
I have a skin condition that makes my skin red. The blue settings allows me to not appear like a tomato on camera. It's getting more manageable lately so I am changing slowly to more normal colours. We all have our insecurities ;)
