We were in Cuestecitas two years ago on a bicycle tour and I remember seeing a lot of rogue gas stations. We actually stayed in that town and ate at a fonda. We made sure there were no bottles of gas right next door 😁
Tell me how was the tour? Seeing La Guajira from a Bike is definitely a great experience (if is very early otherwise the sun would eat you alive lol )
@@Afroguajira We loved it! The sun did eat us alive, as we spent much of the day on our bikes, but what a beautiful country. We were warned against riding to Cuestecitas by people in Riohatcha, but went anyways and we're so glad we did. The hospitality is amazing. Your video brought back the memory. Thanks for keeping La Guajira close to us 😉

So it was fascinating to hear your description of the oil price increases as it was taking place at the local street level in that small town in Columbia and the locals try to deal with it!The war in Ukraine and the oil import embargo of Russian oil has oil prices reaching historic new highs in the United States.So I think that I will have to fill up my car tank of gas from that town in Columbia where you did this video.Or even better....get myself a great job as a pimpinero transporting and selling cheap gasoline from Venezuela in your beautiful Colombia!!!!That sounds like living the good life to me!!Can you hook me up Mahia?????Luv you too! It is an oil rich area with an interesting history of exploitation by foreign Oil companies and - like Venezuela - nationalizing the companies without any skill in running such operations. When I was in Medellin at the beginning of February, gas was more than 9000 pesos per liter, which is at least $8.75 per gallon.
no its 9-10mil for a gallon! its less then 3000 for a liter ....nobody could afford gas if it was that expensive here haha google it.

Bucaramanga is far from that area, it used to be venezuelan territory too, like La Guajira peninsula, the same as many frontier areas between the 2 countries. (Arauca, Santander, Vichada, etc)
Bucaramanga-Maicao (a main town in La Guajira) just under 500 kms aprox. (480 kms) Territories lost to Colombia because of shady court decisions many decades ago, both countries never had a war between them as the two countries are very much like twin brothers and there have been many frontier issues which in other parts of the world would have led to war easily but not between
