I remember back in the late 1990s and early 2000s that adverts appeared in the UK railway press offering package deals to go and see the last remaining steam mainline workings in China...good to see that it hasn't totally faded away from an industrial use
I agree. These last few JS Class locos though are now in their last few months. When they've gone, industrial steam will be gone from the world for good ...... Andy
@@raymondleggs5508 There's nothing left operating on regular operation in North Korea. The last trip there that I know of, only had steam fired up in exchange for payment ..... Andy
Just great footage Andy. The loaded train passing the empty on the siding is my favourite so far...working steam at it's best. Looks like you were blessed with a day without the usual wind, it certainly made for a clear soundtrack. Bitter-sweet I guess, knowing this could be the last Hurrah?p
The weather in this area can vary from totally still to storm conditions. Temperatures vary between minus 30c and plus 45c. It can be tricky at times! Andy
There is an appreciation of steam. There are the beginnings of a handful of tourist lines about the country BUT (as in the west as steam was being phased out) the main priority has been to get rid of it. The appreciation comes along later .... when it's too late!! In the UK we owe the fact that we have so many locos preserved to just one scrap metal dealer in South Wales who bought hundreds of old locos but wasn't in a hurry to break them up. Andy
Thank you!
You people have documented so many memorable steam trains around the world and we will cherish them for a long time.
Thank you for that high praise. It's really our pleasure. I hope the continue to provide entertainment for many years. Andy
Very impressive. What an exhaust!
The sound of the exhaust echoes around the opencast mine area. It does add to the atmosphere.

@Tony Haddon They manually fired. The crews are good at their job! Andy

exhaust is mindblowing
These JS locos have to work hard all day and the temperatures of around minus 10 to 20 degrees centigrade make for lots of steam exhaust ...... Andy
you are very informative about steam engines and there workplace

I wonder if the chinese hold steam trains in such reverance as a lot of western countries seem to
