FIX - Android x86 Freezes at GRUB Installation

If you can't install Android x86 Marshmallow on your computer because it freezes at the GRUB installation step, it means you have not yet created a partition and are trying to deploy directly to your hard drive device (eg., sda when it should be sda1).
Watch this video to see how to fix this by first creating a new partition (eg., sda1) and then installing to that partition.
It's super fast and super simple to install.

Ended up fixn' that by giving this vm permission to do 3D acceleration and changed graphics setting to vboxvga; otherwise I guess gui won't render
You must choose to install grub with the system.
In the grub menu, press 'e' to edit the boot command, press 'e' again to edit the first command starting with "kernel". Add this:
nomodeset
to the y command and press Enter to save, finally press 'b' to boot from the modified command and it will start successfully.
I tried this with CM 14.1 and Android 7.1 images and it works after I had the same problem with VMWare Workstation 14.

Hello! I cannot select "No" on "Use GPT?". (says "Unsupported GPT detected. Use GNU Parted."). There I can make partition, but can't check "primary" or "bootable" as you can.
There is no more freezing when I select to install GRUB but after the restart it still says that there is nothing to boot from. Tested on 5.1-rc1 and 6.0-rc1. Thank you in advance.
Nevermind, figured out it only works with MBR and my virtualbox disk image somehow changed to GPT. It fixed itself after I introduced the new image.
Hey, I have that error too, but I have no VM thingy. I'm using a generic Windows 8.1 tablet that has a broken version of Windows (Die painfully, Remix OS install USB), and a failed install of Android x86 6.0.1. I followed the steps to install from other videos, but when I click on the *boot Androidx86* option, it shows some errors that pass by WAY too fast for me to read, then it begins to boot Andorid (I assume), but never shows the Android boot screen and I think gets stuck in a boot error. Before that, I had the error that you had, and chose the Yes, and tried to manually create a seperate partition. How can I get it to boot? I have no virtualbox iso. :P

mine gets to the black android splash screen and just sits there over an hour android logo highlight moving from left to right ????? any advic i have tried 2 different iso .

@@waaki no so I tried Linux gave up with that and went back to Windows 10 originally I had Windows 11 running on it but ir wouldn't update 😞
@@andypandy1488 same, I gave up on androidx86 but I tried other Linux iso, and it worked. Don't quit, just do it for fun and the experience.
How can I use this for when I boot with a live usb? Whenever I try, it gets stuck at the android boot logo; I am running a pre-release version of Android x86 7.0

You need to shut down the virtual machine then on the virtualbox window click on settings then go to the Display tab and click on the box next to graphics controller and change it to VBoxVGA and then below that check the box that says Enable 3D Acceleration. Then start your virtual machine. This is what worked for me

Which OS
are you trying to download. Remix, readycloud, Prime or others?
Try x86 iso and NOT x86-64

for me if i delete data.img, android will load successfully! (used android installer.exe to install iso to folder )
This Actually Depends On What Version Of Android Your Using If Your Using Anything From 5 Onwards You Have To Do The Manual Dualpart Method In Order To Get It To Boot

@@saikotshafi8358 solution is to use a diff version of android x86 that is compatible with your pc... Search a little u will find... Its been a year so my memory is hazy but I'll try

@@avisekregmi6421 I found it I use grub2win and a dive reader for Linux on Windows, I can get it installed and up. The buttons are on the left though. I just recently found out that I can change dpi to fix that. Still no microphone. I think everything looks better when I install in virtual box

my pc did that too you can get in to android install apps run thim but the min you re boot or turn off it will not boot again one trick is to use a usb hdd then put it back in pc then boot from it that way
