- This is a look at the shrimp boats of Fort Myers Beach, Florida. The storm surge of Hurricane Ian pushed a lot of them on land and onto mobile homes. The devastation is insane.
Thank you for sharing- my heart breaks for all touched by the disaster- many prayers for strength for what ya'll are going through- love from a Texas gulf coast grandma that survived Harvey & Ike 💖🌹💖
I really appreciate all your videos. My park that got destroyed is the one with all the shrimp boats in it. The only way for me to know what is going on is from your videos. So thank you
My pleasure. Sorry about your home.
After Charley shrimp were so plentiful it drove the cost way down.
Too all of you affected by that storm...
You have my prayers, and I will support what I can from here, God be with you all.....
This is going to take 5 to 7 years to start life again. First the boats have to b determined which are good and get them back in the water and building the docks and warehouses that need to be fixed, restored and upgraded so this won’t be bad in future. Good luck

Was thinking the same thing.
@@CaribbeanCastaways tough thing to laugh about, I've got (had) two boats at Salty's, coming down tomorrow to start to figure things out, thanks for the footage!
Omg. What a mess. Where do you start?? I’m sitting in port Charlotte Fl. My office was totaled, so I’m picking up my pieces. I had the for site to by proper insurance, but the damage was so extensive it even went beyond my cap. I’ll be ok but I know many won’t. I hope people find help with available programs. God bless you all. Wishing you piece and comfort in this time of sorrow. ☮️💞
The shrimp will live and get big
They sure will.
Did I see a relative of yours on a news cast about the marina there? They guy sounded a lot like you
My boss was interviewed a lot but I wasn't.
Well did the Key West Express survive? I've been looking through videos and no signs of it or perhaps they moved it to another location before the storm. Curious because we were just passengers in August.
Yes. They moved one boat to Tampa and the other in Key west. They'll be back.
Big building is prevail where is Bill your building somewhere else besides the water
Shrimp are having cocktails right now 🦐 🍹🦐🍹🦐🍹
How high was the storm surge?
Estimate between 12-14 feet.
And most likely all those boats are too far gone to ever be repaired. I've also heard that the Government is not going to be removing or paying to remove any of these unfortunate vessels. I hope that was a rumor.
Fiberglass and steel boats are immensely strong and easy to repair. Insurance companies will not easily write them off. Governments will only remove vessels which are affecting gov't services or on their property
