They think these kids should have not been...the parents know though! They will bring their child into the world, and they know, their kids will let them know if they want to live or not! And for the parents, like you, who get diagnosed after birth...it's no different. If that kid wants to live, they will let you know! They will let you know! And Denver, he wants to live! He's so happy and bubbly! He wants to be here, wants to learn! If they want to let go, they will let you know! I'm glad Denver is here! ❤ And if people ever tell you that he should have just been "let go", don't listen to them! You know your kid!! Love you guys!! Love your relationship!
I can only imagine what having a medically fragile child can do to a marriage. My first daughter was very premature and was in the NICU. She did well, and even without any major problems, it was so hard on my marriage. This seems odd to say, but I'm so proud of you and your husband for how you are dealing with this new life you never expected to be living. I pray you two will always choose each other in the hard times.
I appreciate your candor. My husband and I have experienced having a child with special needs. We were blessed to have her for forty one years. Our love and commitment carried us through every trial. Stay strong in your relationship with each other so you can give the boys a stable foundation. I would recommend that as Draven gets older he be encouraged to express his feelings about having a special brother. I wish we had done more of this. ❤

I agree about “ wanting to be here”. My granddaughter was a fighter from day one. The NICU nurses commented on it several times. Even though she had two cardiac arrests, she came back each time. And she has always been a happy, funny child. Also, this has always been her life, and she has never known any different. At nine years old, she recognizes that she has some differences from other kids, but we have always explained that people are all different from each other.
Denver's situation has made you stronger as a couple, and as a family. It's brought you closer together as a team, working towards a common goal, Denver's, (and Draven's), wellbeing. You're both doing a great job.

I keep noticing how much you both look like your children in this, I see a lot of Draven in his dad & a lot of Denver in you, but also a lot of each of them in each of you too 🫶🏽
I have to say "meeting" Alex just made my day. Now I know Denver has an amazing mother as well as an equally amazing father. He is so lucky to have you both as parents, imo thats a major part of his battles fought and won. It must be awful to be given a diagnosis by genetics and then not see them at least as often as his other specialists. It must be nigh on torture to even talk about it but if Dr's gave you a prognosis they need to be updating it at least more often than once in a life time. I'd be asking them fairly frequently about Denvers prognosis. Part of their job is talking about hard things with the parents of very ill children. Asking more questions might help them to realise they have left all of the stress sitting on your shoulders with not a clue if any of the care he's had so far has improved his prognosis. I think for most people the not knowing is one of the hardest things to deal with. All the best with it.

My daughter was in the NICU for 2 months, and it is truly something that people can only understand if they have been through it. The fear was so overwhelming at times, but it made me so grateful for the moments I have with my baby now. I find your channel to be such a comfort.❤
It's unfortunate that Denver's birth was traumatic, and undoubtedly more so since neither of you were prepared given your prenatal care team didn't notice anything off. I got emotional just hearing you both recap that timeframe and your fears about him making it. I never thought about it, but it must be particularly wild working in a NICU unit.. You could go home after a shift and come back the next day to find a little Denver ❤ I don't think he could ask for better parents (or a sweeter big brother). My 24 year old son has grown up to be a very compassionate human and I say because of my career path of having medically complex special needs children in our home. As far as abilities like moving and talking the best I’ve ever seen him. ❤️ His heart is categorized as severe since march so we have monthly monitoring until they decide to do another surgery
