To be honest; those "panic rooms" for schools would double as a decent tornado shelter as glass and debris is just as lethal as a bullet; if not worse.
Any scream was "magical". In the movie, Randy even decided to try using Mike because he and Sully kept getting in the way of his original plan. Mike luckily gets away from the situation, but Randy's little helper gets switched out in the torture device (scream machine or whatever it was called) and we find that his scream had been sucked out of him instead
6:08 Yes, as shown in 2 scene that had Adults screaming so loud it pierced dimentions and opened an unpowered door from the other side. Theoretically, doing that would actually be a BETTER source of Scream than children and more enjoyable!
There are two issues with scaring adults. 1: It's not as easy to make an adult scream as it is to make a child scream. That means it's extremely high-risk to do so. 2: When a child is scared by a monster, it's generally pinned to the child's imagination spooking them. But if an adult were to see something like Sully, well, at best, that monster manages to flee, and at worst, a potential investigation from various governments, which could result in lots of bad things for both humans and monsters alike.
@@LloydTheZephyrian The adult would have to go straight to the psychiatry. No one would believe them the existence of a blue haired monster that came out of their closet

We had designated 'fallout shelters' in the basement of schools when i was growing up (years ago, during the Cold War". We never used them. I read a story once about a school being renovated from that era. They found a ton of old canned MRE rations, among rat chewed blankets and moldy pillows. It had been at least 30 years, and some military guy quipped "Those rations are probably still good."
It's been a hot second, but I seem to recall the screams had to be human to produce energy for whatever reason, In Monsters Inc. they exclusively harvest screams from children because A) children are much easier to scare, and B) adults might see monsters and force their way into the Monster world and wreck the whole place, where kids just scream. At the end they discover that laughter is massively more potent as an energy source than screams. In Monsters University (a prequel), they discover that adults are far, far harder to scare than children, but their screams of terror are phenomenally powerful - the terrified screams of... I wanna say 5-10 grown adults including sherriff's officers was able to instantly fill up every canister in a moderately sized store room, including ones not even connected to the magical door machine, and also cause that machine to overload and explode.
It makes you wonder if the monsters could instead go to sports stadiums and other such events to gather screams and just pretend to be furries. They'd need to send more humanoid monsters, but it would probably be a great way to gather screams. Way more efficient than going into kids' rooms at night, even if they are making the kids laugh.
@@kevkevplays5662 Yeah, that's the idea. They pretend to be furries to get in without humans being suspicious, then they sneak into a private area and set up a machine to collect screams.
