My favorite thing about this video is that it's about scammers and exposing them. then during the UA-cam ads it's telling me about my $6400 government check I can qualify for that's clearly a scam.
Here's a tip from a PC Repair person: When that Microsoft window pops up, either press or hold the ESC button. It then reverts back to normal view mode. Exit the browser, then go back in. DO NOT RESTORE ANY PAGES. Go to settings and clear cookies and cache. Make sure to toggle the drop down menu to "For all time". It goes without saying, do not call the phone number. If you give them remote access, it bypasses any antivirus software you have on the computer, because it's akin to opening the front door for a burglar. The scam happens after you make 1st contact. The phishing redirect is usually from cached data which is why it's recommended to keep your browsing history regularly maintained. Also make sure to have a good popup blocker extension activated. Most important tho: Don't contact any phone numbers.
As a Cybersecurity guy myself, I appreciate you posting these for others. Easy for them to understand and to the point. This in an ongoing battle. We must stay vigilant.
Hi Julie …nice to see some more scammer videos. It would be really cool if BBB participated in the people’s call center next year with Scammer Payback. One of the big bosses from Anydesk was there this year and he was calling scammers with the guys, he even live-streamed a couple of scambaiting sessions.
Updated for 2023: The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, "I'm from The Microsoft (or GeekSquad, Norton, McAfee, Paypal, Amazon, etc..) and I'm here to help."
It can be scary to get one of these pop-ups which make your computer unresponsive, especially as they usually include a warning not to restart your computer. When this happened to me, I was shocked but I realised it was a scam and I did not phone the number. Instead I held down the power button to turn off the computer. When I turned it back on later the pop-up had disappeared and everything was working normally again.
Yes. Just turn off the computer, restart. If it doesn't fix it, keep doing that. Eventually it will unlock and the computer will work again. These sites should be sued for harassment and time wasted by its victims.
I totally love the facial expressions you're making throughout this call; just the facial expressions tell the entire story of what you are thinking throughout this contact. A lot of respect for how you gracefully and politely concluded the call.
Your computer has been hacked, your phone lines are hacked, your husband and children are hacked. Oh, and there are 6 hackers at your bank, so don't call them either. 🤣🤣🤣
I really appreciate these educational scambait videos. I watched many of others. Lots of scambaiters are really good with computers. They told the victim to remove the remote control software. That is the way to prevent them to reconnect to the victims PC.
Once they get connection with the 1st remote software. They can install other remote control software what you do not see. That is what a lot of scam baiters do not tell you. If you do connect to these scammers just removing the 1st ultraviewer or anydesk, does not guarantee that the scammers do not still have access to your computer, and unless you are computer savvy, you will still need to take your computer to a reputable computer shop.
Restoring the entire system wipes it all out. I have done that many times before but more for other reasons. I got help from PC world over the phone as I have insurance with them. They did it themselves without asking me every time I brought my computer to them for other repairs.
I'm in the UK (England), and I've had the courtesy of actual phone-calls from people claiming to be from MS security services. I think they're as commonplace over in Europe as they are in the USA. HI me 2 , London , unreal isn’t it , daily occurrence , the latest this morning “ good morning madame we have just been passed your file regarding your recent motoring accident ….. 🤬 yeah right !!!
I just loved the word salad answer she gave, when you started asking probing questions. Also I work in IT, and have called Microsoft many times. I have spoken to people in America. No one was in Washington.
That's exactly what they would do, because it comes pre-installed in the OS lol it's the only thing they're allowed to work with because their compony vetted it. Scammers won't use it, because their information can be traced and they know it.
Another red flag is the scammer often having two first names, often one male and one female (Sara Charles) since they don't know which American names are male and female.
My mom fell victim to an Amazon scam and she doesn't even have an Amazon account. I have repeatedly explained to her to be aware of digital scammers and they'll say anything to get your money. Yet, once they called, she forgot everything and lost $1500. She was so afraid to have a random charge on her credit card, that she did everything the scammers told her to do to get the fake charge reversed. Fear rules over common sense, and most people don't think rationally in those situations.
Thanks to you and other scam bursters, I'm always very careful. I went through a period when I received daily calls about my "slow Wi-Fi". I would always ask how they could possibly monitor my WiFi, considering how many millions use the same provider. I never got an realistic answer but enjoyed making fools of them. All were in India. Scammers can ruin lives.
What you do after you ask where they are located and they give you a bogus answer, you ask them *what time it is* where they are now. And have them answer quickly. You'll either get a frantic answer or a hangup right at that point. Also, when you are done with the scammers, ALWAYS make them hang up first. That way the call costs them money, which won't happen if you hang up first.
A scambaiter I follow asks where they are, and if they say California, for instance, he follows up with, "Is that eastern or mountain time zone?", and when they invariably answer wrong he lays into them. 😂😂
The thing is they scam Mac users, too. They are dispicable criminals, who will go to any length possible to steal money from unsuspecting victims. They have practically no boundary they won't cross to get money.
Great work. It is soothing to listen to stupid angry scammers barking insults. Also good are the refund scammers in shock over the refund overpayment ("ohhh my gawwwd"), and fake crying over their probable 'firing'.
I got that pop-up and it disabled my screen. I knew it was as a scam so I didn’t click any links. I brought up task manager and shut it down. It was a well made scam because I couldn’t get rid of it unless I clicked on it. Luckily, I’m computer savvy.
I'm sure you know, but the refund scammers go so far as to use the BBB logo on their fake 'refund forms', and sometimes threaten to report the victims to the BBB if they give the scammer a hard time🤣. Good job on this video and helping in the fight and educating people what to look out for.

Julie, thank you for your easy to follow conversation. This video was a bit longer than usual, but not tooooo long as to lose interest (I share them with an older relative). I have to say, when you started that counting clock of silence, I couldn't help but laugh out loud!
*My fiancé walked into the living room once when I was streaming her videos.* She was like, “you have a crush on that lady don’t you?” I said, “nope.” 👀
@Allah_Loves_Forgives_and_Saves Good grief. You just turned something innocent (that my fiancé and I both laughed at by the way) into something disgusting and sinister. I would never cheat on her. She has the biggest crush on George Clooney, but just because she finds him attractive doesn’t mean that “her eyes are starting to wonder.” We do not disrespect each other. I love my fiancé so much. We were supposed to have been married in July of 2019. Unfortunately, we had two horrible things happen. She lost her little sister in a terrible accident. The same year, I was relieved to have been qualified as a donor of bone marrow that would save my beautiful fiancé’s life. I literally would have given my heart to her if that’s what it would have taken to save her life. When she lost all of her hair, and weighed only 92lbs, I was there every day and night after work. 14:09 no you just uninstall the Ultraviewer, and whatever else the scammer has installed on your computer. However never allow them on your actual computer.. use a Virtual Machine instead, which is a pretend PC that is isolated from your main computer and your local network (usually it's behind it's own NAT router) and whatever they do to that virtual machine, you can just delete it and start over with a fresh VM.
If you let them get access to your pc, you don't have to destroy anything. Just unplug the network cable. Or, if you use wifi, turn off the pc, turn it back on and don't connect to the wifi. They can't use your device if it has no connection to the internet. Depending on how far they got, just uninstalling anydesk or whatever they used to get initial access is not enough. But nothing that can't be fixed. Even if they changed your password, there are ways to get it back. Ask someone you trust to check the PC. Don't allow them to mess with you!
I keep all of my files and downloads on portable and external hard drives. I keep only the programs on the PCs and maybe a few saves of something I am working on (with a backup on portable drives too). That way if something happens to a PC, all of my important data is on separate hard drives. Make sure you have a backup and be very careful with portable hard drives. They can be delicate, especially if dropped or handled roughly. In the old days, I would even burn some (data, photos, files, music) on CDs/DVDs as backups before the external and portable drives were able to handle larger files. With all the scam baiters out there now, news, and documentaries available to everyone, I'm still shocked to find so many people still falling for these things. Romance, lottery, and computer scams are the most common, but there are so many other ways people can get cheated.
What if you gave somebody Access to your computer like 15 years for remote viewing? How do you make sure They can't get in again after all this time ???? I don't even remember who I gave that access to.
Dear scummer: Because this is a work computer you'll have to upload your latest company and personal security checks, your current government ID and sign an NDA. Working for Microsoft you must understand the importance of company security and sharing data.
Hi Julie, lovely to see you’re “still on the case” of these insidious scammers, they’ll try every trick in the book & then some unknown rubbish (unless yr an IT specialist with up to date knowledge). Take care & best wishes from Adelaide; South Australia🇦🇺💐
When you give the scammers in India a hard time they can eventually get pretty vulgar. Some will admit they are scammers and brag about it. It`s sick out there. Lying becomes a way of life for them.
If you heard about the roma or the gypsie poeple in europe they originated from india they are the mosted hated poeple so now that you realise the scammers lie is a way of life in india well now you know why the so called roma poeple are most hated
You are an amazing actress! Is that your academy award behind you (on our left)? I’d believe it! Insta fan here and subbed. All the way from BC 🇨🇦! Edit: and nice nails 😊
I user Virtual Box or VMware to create a machine with internet access so they think they are on my PC and then I place fake documents on my desktop so they can look around. But nothing for sure will they find while I try to find out more about their call center.
Hi Julie, great video as always I would almost guarantee this is not Microsoft. I don’t believe they have a secure server which they call and try and connect you with the telephone number would’ve been spoofed to make it look like anything they can do that easily and all they have is the address of the Microsoft headquarters it wouldn’t work with us in the UK, but they always think if they give you their workers ID number, it’s gonna make you trust them. I will guarantee you are real name is not. Sarah will also guarantee you she’s calling from India probably Calcutta. 17:36
Great question! You'd likely have to bring your computer in to a service center so they can run the necessary checks. It might be as simple as deleting the software they installed, but if they also downloaded malware that will need to be handled by a tech expert.
I'm really mean to them... I tell them "You know what should happen to scammers! They should be jailed for decades for scamming people and being POS on the Earth. Don't you agree?" CLICK... one person was hurt and kept talking to me saying "Why would you say such mean things." and I would reply "Because you're a horrible person ripping off innocent people"... and he would pause like I was really hurting his feelings... this went on for 10 min... he actually seemed upset I called him a horrible human being. LOL! Eventually I just said "Look, you're scamming people. That automatically makes you a bad human being." and he finally hung up.
The problem with these scammers is that they have a script, some wrote this for them because they have a very low grade of education, this scammergirl really believes she is from Microsoft but in real life they never heard of the real company, and also their Hindi accent most trigger us that they are not real ! Never let them f…….up your computer because they do not know what to do with it ! 😂
With all their money and power why doesn't Microsoft shut these sites down? These pop up scams occur often on Microsoft's msn weather ap. Some of the associated aps can lead to this scam happening.
WOW it's been a while since I scrolled back to BBB Wisconsin but I am loving this Judy Smith persona with the gorgeous black hair. Please let me know if she puts out a yearly calendar or something ! ;-P
They will also turn on unattended access on any of these remote access programs. Doing so will allow them to remote into your computer at any time without you doing anything. When they do they can order things through Amazon if you have your login information saved. They did this to my father-in-law. They ordered gift cards that they can then turn into cash.
It's easy enough to get them out - uninstall whatever you installed. Without ultraviewer... they can'T get in. But easier than that is be skeptical of anyone and everything.
When they run the tree command, press enter a number of times and type tree and press enter. This will make the tree command run again and you can keep doing this for as long as you want, then their stupid messages won't appear.
Unfortunately, they will probably eventually lock your keyboard and mouse input. Never let them connect to your computer, and if someone does, you can always disconnect your internet to break the connection and immediately uninstall the remote sharing software before you go back online.
My favorite thing about this video is that it's about scammers and exposing them. then during the UA-cam ads it's telling me about my $6400 government check I can qualify for that's clearly a scam.

Someone's gotta get 'em and say 7 James Bond? after that 😆😆😆
What if you gave somebody Access to your computer like 15 years for remote viewing? How do you make sure They can't get in again after all this time ???? I don't even remember who I gave that access to.
Yahoo a scambaiter lovely person protecting vulnerable people from these scammers
"The Microsoft Remote Server" - The one computer in the entire world without a decimal point, BACKSPACE or an ENTER key.
I see you're familiar with the 'Secure Robotic Server' 🤣🤣🤣
Thankyou so much this is invaluable!
I don't know about "becomes", they are always at it.
My experience has been when ever people are overly polite, their usually up to something.
7:52 because we'll have the #uqqin audacity to ask you to select never show incoming connection, that's how
And make sure we can hide your screen and lock your input too 😠👿
What a honest conversation 😂
Good job. But if the scammer tells u u have to fill up a refund form and most of them have the BBB logo on them so take care.
"SUPPOTE" and "WIRUS" ... yeah that's a scam. LOL
She reminds me of Sue Heck. So beautiful!
What!!! You did not delete their computer.... Or bring down their scam centre! Sad!
Finally a scambaiter with perfect teeth and unique style
Nicely handled!
Ah, yes. Redmond, Philadelphia. I’ve been there many times.
Question. If they had installed something, will deleting it stop them from coming again, or is there more that someone needs to do.
Great question! You'd likely have to bring your computer in to a service center so they can run the necessary checks. It might be as simple as deleting the software they installed, but if they also downloaded malware that will need to be handled by a tech expert.
Nice work!!!
Tell them you were watching pornography when they ask what you were doing when your computer was blocked. Say you were watching their mother.
Keep info coming.👍
I'm really mean to them... I tell them "You know what should happen to scammers! They should be jailed for decades for scamming people and being POS on the Earth. Don't you agree?" CLICK... one person was hurt and kept talking to me saying "Why would you say such mean things." and I would reply "Because you're a horrible person ripping off innocent people"... and he would pause like I was really hurting his feelings... this went on for 10 min... he actually seemed upset I called him a horrible human being. LOL! Eventually I just said "Look, you're scamming people. That automatically makes you a bad human being." and he finally hung up.
keep up the gd work Julie u been doing this 4 a long time
When will the authorities actually stop these scams that have been a problem for at least 10 years?!
"MS1004" presumably means "Microsoft Scammer #1004" 😆
New subscriber here, looking forward to seeing more videos
Well done.
Please let me know if she puts out a yearly calendar or something ! ;-P
Hahahaha, the dubloodubloodubloodot dance.
"remove hackers and walruses, then do 2 to 3 scamming" lol
Hottest scambaiter yet
Julie - the REAL Wonderwoman!
Julie is such a wonderful person.
