Best SNES drunk Intro so far.
It sure is.
I was going to comment the same.
Yeah, go crazy man! We love it
Well, honestly there was the epic intro from Driving Race Drive Racing or whatever, that one was a little gooder
Ohhh yeah...i guess he was merrily drunk!
Fun facts about the faithfulness to the source material. The level where you're on a boat in a storm this taken correctly from a deleted scene then you can watch on the DVD and Blu-ray, and was also included in the novelization of the movie.
Noice!
The novelization is great. Not only does it include the deleted scenes but also has background for the characters and kingdom and why its in the state it is in the film.
what do you say when a noob’s hogging the machine?
“Out-of-the-way Peck!”
Lol!
Hahaha! My brother and I used to day that all the time as kids.
Best line!!! Would never fly today!
Gold!!!!
Hahaha classic. Or you could say, "Give me a sword and I'll win this war for you."
SNES Drunk: "This is another one of those gems you'll have to play any way you can"
Me: "Arrrrrrr, shiver me timbers matey! Hoist the sails, raise the anchers, we's got us a proper treasure hunt, boys!"
Yea, coz good luck finding that arcade cabinet! Lol!
Runs really well on SNES classic ;) With the basic FBA core.
Love Willow's animation sprite when he's guiding the horse. This game has charm written all over it.
Capcom excelled at that during this time.
SNESdrunk and my morning coffee seem to go together quite well.
Truth Telling Shit Poster you have a playlist with my little pony videos. You are literally 5 years old or a weirdo.
Doing the same lol
@@GalaxyCat42 lol you weren't kidding the child has a playlist with my little pony and an anime fighting sequence, from South Park.
I always watch them while I’m eating lunch, they’re the perfect length to watch for a short meal
♫ The best part of waking up, is coffee and SNES drunk! ♫
Glad you enjoyed it. My mom was in a bowling league when I was a kid and it was Willow and a Doctor Who pinball machine that distracted me from the aggressively drunk members of my mom’s team.
Man, the 90's, especially the early 90's, was a magical time for gaming. I legit feel sorry for anyone who didn't get to experience to feeling of looking forward to going to the arcades on Friday or saturday &/or renting new games that from blockbuster 😭
@GamebroTV Although the realistic aspect of graphics evolved without a doubt, the experimentation and variety also diminished immensely due to the increased risk aversion of the big studios.
I'm glad to see there are a lot more indies trying to fill that gap, but the industry certainly lost its creative edge in the last decade.
Nice! I grew up in the late 80s and 90s. We played out on the streets playing basketball or went over one of our friend's house who was fortunate enough to own an Atari 2600. I only remembered the privileged being able to afford to go to the arcades on Fridays, or owning game consoles let alone having the funds to rent video games. Jesus I wish I had your life!
I played games in the early 90ies, but Arcades didn't exist in my country 😭
Cameron J I disagree...each era of gaming has its own charm...I’m glad that I’m able to witness how far gaming has come.
Yeah no, grew up in the 90s and video games is still as magical today as it was then. I feel sorry anyone that is stuck in nostalgia and cannot see how great todays video games are.
Total length of video: 289 secs.
Total length of "SNES Drunk": 3.5 secs.
1.21% of the video was spent listening to "SNES Drunk."
4.67% of the video spent reading this comment god damnit!
I'm gonna have to check this one out. Thanx
Yeah, let's compare that with a recent AVGN video...
Total duration: 22:24 (1344 s)
Sponsored content for terrible earbuds with WAY too much bass: 1:12 (72 s) = 5.357%
Theme song: 48 s = 3.571%
Final card: 24 s = 1.786%
Conclusion: SNES Drunk intro is really short and original (it changes all the time)
@@kabochaVA I feel AVGN has been basically unwatchable for years now. I used to watch his stuff all the time when he first came out, but it's just annoying now.
NEEERRD!! 😲 J/K I wish I was a nerd in 2020. Probably wouldn't have to worry about actually leaving the house to work right now.
Nah, if it was Pat Summerall it would have said "Willow, followed by Murder...She Wrote"
Flag on the play!
John Madden would’ve said ‘Grace...the Nelwyn race!’
Ahahaha!! That also seems like something Gene Shalit would have said.
I never knew about this arcade game. It looks really fun. I miss old arcade games like this. I appreciate that you take the time to show some of these off. It means a lot to an 80's kid like me.
I remember this game. There was a pizza parlor in my hometown in the 80's that had this.
Mine too. I remember seeing some kids play it at a local Pizza Hut (when they used to have dining rooms), but I didn't have my own quarters.
Same here lol
Same. I played this at my local pizza parlor around 1989 and could never get past one of the blind jumps.
Me too. I never got a chance to play it but saw it so many times and always thought it looked so fun. I never forgot about it.
This arcade cabinet has booming audio. I played it and even with SF2, MK, and my beloved Galaga in the Putt Putt arcade facility the "WILLOW!" booming voice called out to me to play.
"AROOO!!!! AROOOOO!!!" *Thwack, thwack* . . . "WILLLOOOOW!"
Erm, i think i'll play that one.
3:24 - “Willow the arcade game does a great job of following the source material”
3:52 - (I was going to make a joke about the snowboarding level here but I just looked up the movie and oh my god it’s real)
deadfr0g Yes the snowboarding is real, and it is awesome. Definitely one of the funniest scenes in the movie.
You haven't seen the movie?
This is the best "arcade only" action platform game I can remember from youth. 10 year old me, was particularly blown away by the visuals, which were a significant step up from my beloved NES.
YES!
This is probably my favorite arcade game, and no one ever talks about it. It's a perfect platformer, great music, beautiful graphics, tons of gameplay variety, secrets, choices, etc. It does everything right.
I'm lucky to have this on my Pandora's Box.
Hope you'll do Black Tiger or Three Wonderers
I love how the game follows the movie so closely. As someone who watched Willow dozens of times, it was nice to recognize not just settings but some of the characters and animals, too. My only question is, this was an arcade game. I just can’t fathom someone spending a quarter or however much money standing at that cabinet for an hour trying to beat the game lol and I realize it was different 30 years ago and I should know, I remember seeing this at the corner convenience store but I can’t imagine it today as a middle aged man.
I love the movie...one of the most underrated movies of all time^^
The game...looks pretty fun.
Me too. It was one of my favorites growing up and I don't think it gets brought up nearly enough when people discuss fantasy films.
It's my favorite movie of all time :) the NES game wasn't half bad either!
I liked it. So much fever dream like. lol
Indeed. Been wanting to watch it again for a while.
@@chriskoschik391 The village music still plays in my head to this day.
Thank you for highlighting some gems of the arcade era. A lot of arcade games I only really knew from their console ports. I grew up in the 80's 90's with no arcades within reasonable travel (excluding a Godfather's Pizza with Kizuna Encounter and a couple others). I've been getting materials together to build an arcade cabinet and your videos have been super helpful in determining what should make it onto its library. Keep it up!
I JUST finished Strider on the Arcade yesterday for the very first time. 20 continues. And now you bring it up with another recommendation from Capcom! Looks great, I'll give it a shot.
Awe man. Strider is a quarter muncher but a beautiful game. I can 1cc willow arcade and I Know some really useful strats if you're interested.
Awesome video as per usual. I'm not sure why, but your "Any way you can!" line always gets me super pumped up. Keep up the good work!
I appreciate it when you give these obscure games a second or so chance to shine.
ThaaaAAAaaaAAAaaaAAAnk You!
I bet you read it with the intro mood. Keep doing videos like this dude, I love them.
I cant believe ppl complained about your intro. I've always loved it and liked how you do different harmonies each time.
I appreciate the little classical flourish in the intro.
The cultural quality of this channel is fast approaching being over 9000.
ARCADE-DRUNK!
This kind of videos should be labeled Arcade-Drunk! :-)
I love this show, it's just making me feel good every time. Keep up the good work! I wish you a great rest of your day :-)
Great video! I remember playing this as a kid, and every time there was a Willow video game review on youtube, I was always confused why it wasn't THIS game.
Your channel has inspired me to finally get an SNES again. Haven't played this one, but the NES Willow game is one of my favorites of all time
Exquisite harmonies in the intro! Barbershop style, classy as hell.
Don't know how I missed this one. Always enjoying the arcade reviews.
Excellent video! I did not know this existed. I would love a home port of this, it looks fun.
SNES drunk: "We have arcade platformers at home."
I love that you compared this game as part Megaman, part, Strider, and part Forgotten worlds, those all adequately sum up the game while all being Capcom properties (which took me a second and a half to piece out), so good job on making that connection :D
Played this at an arcade as a kid. I had seen the movie. I never knew this was that. This vid hit me with some nostalgia feels. I thought was a long lost fantasy epic that I only got to play for 10 minutes. Never thought I would see it again. Thanks my dude
Many happy memories. I also remember collecting Willow toys (well, foam tokens with pictures on) from cereal boxes back in the day.
They had the tonka figures
Great vid, never would've heard of this! Really enjoy it when you go over old arcade games. Just something I was never really exposed to and love learning about them on the channel! (Along with everything else of course) Really like how the cabinets power allowed for higher fidelity pixel art in these games compared to consoles at the time
Thanks dude! I'm playing it on my RG350, and it's really cool! I'm dying a lot, but eventually I want to make it to the two headed monster. I really loved the way the decapitated neck was still on the screen while you fight the other head!
This game looks amazing. I'm so surprised there's no formal release on any other platform. Maybe this video will be just the push it needs to get some more recognition!
No other platform could play this game and do it justice a the time. Just like most other arcade games.
Awesome video, glad someone covered this awesome arcade game, loved playing this as a kid and even more later on
Think I saw this once in the wild, in Lake Tahoe. It's sorta amazing how many arcade games really went under the radar.
What! A wild Western _Willow?_ Wowzers!
Your intros are just the best. Love them
I made it!
Played this once when I was younger, glad I now remember its name ty :)
Yes! I love these arcade reviews !! Keep em' coming !
Never knew this existed. The NES ARPG was pretty good though.
This one is better than Zelda for NES.
@@adam1984pl Yeah, NES Willow was pretty much the mid road between the original Zelda and A Link to the Past, being Zelda 2 did its own thing as a platformer (I still like that one a lot, but its nothing like Zelda 1).
Hey snesdrunk I didnt even know this existed! Looks awesome. GREAT INTRO to the video!
I pressed that Like button just after hearing the humming.
Just rewatched this like a day ago. Great timing
Awesome video ...I just dug out my old Digital SNES collection and transferred it to my Samsung tablet (a cheap tab 4 ..not the the big one )but with it's 1.2GHZ Prozessor and 1gb of ram it is ABSOLUTELY capable of playing all the old SNES ROMs .. I even have a telescopic ipega controller attached...it's really really amazing...like a poor man's switch ...
Game looks pretty fun and enjoying the art style. Video instantly provoked the sitting with friends watching and eager to have the controller passed over feel.
My local pizza parlor called Pizza and Pipes (there was a giant organ at the top of their second level lol) had this game. Loved it. They had Willow, WWF Superstars and Rastan.
This game feels like the love child between Wardner and Black Tiger.
Didn't even know this existed. Thank you, again, for bring yet another fantastic game to my attention.
One of my favorite arcade games. Shout out to the music, too: it's one of the few video games I can think of where the score is arguably a lot better, and certainly far more varied, than that of the source material. Love or hate the movie, one has to admit that it kind of flogs its main theme for all it's worth.
--->>>> I've been away from this excellent channel, now I am back and will start on sharing it's content in a permanent way. Never stops Dude!! Great work!
This is one of the few channels where I can safely click "like" before I click play.
Great game! lovely graphics!
Finished it on my SNES Classic Mini a few months ago (after "spending" about a million coins...)
What emulator did you install in the mini?
@@leospanghero5479 Actually I had quite a hard time making it work on my SNES Classic Mini, after weeks of frustration - I finally found a ROM that works with "CPS1" emulator.
I found the ROM here:
nblog.org/rompacks-romsets/
(See the CPS1 pack)
My mom used to give me extra quarters with my lunch money so I could use the vending machine in the cafeteria, but I usually just saved those quarters for the arcade at the local bowling alley lol. Used to play this a lot, because I loved the movie.
I’m glad you do arcade games because I’ve never seen them
It’s weird they never ported this to home console
Never knew this one existed. I will be looking into asap. Thanks, Drunk!
Willow was one of my favorite arcade games growing up. Anytime I saw this in a store and had money, I'd play it. I never did get very far though, I should probably load this into an emulator and relive the good ole days
One of my favorite arcade games of one of my favorite movies! I need to play this again...
Wow, this looks absolutely fantastic for a game that came out in '89.
My favorite movie from the 80's. I wish i would have seen this as a child. Great video!
I like the way you give a variation to the intro!! 😂😂
This looks awesome. Somehow I missed this one in the arcades way back when.
Holy crap this game looks and feels awesome! Never heard of it before. It's like Magic Sword but the level design adds so much variety to it. Lots of visual charisma. I bet it is a blast to play. Thanks a lot for bringing this up!
P.S: I dig the new phase of the intro. All hail the classic one, but this sounds fresh and funny as usual.
This is the game where you play as Leprechaun 🍀 before he turned evil.
LOL.
Lmao
If they’d made a _Leprechaun_ arcade game, would it have said ‘GIVE ME MY GOLD!’ instead of ‘Insert Coin’?
I had the chance to play this
Willow arcade Last Summer at the California extreme convention in San Jose as well as some other rare games like Marble Man, whice is the sequal to Marble Madness. Great vid dude hope you make more✌😎
I remember playing this at the local arcade every chance i could get. I also remember there are 2 versions of the arcade: Easy & Hard mode.
The one i got started you with 4 hits & 3 lives, the MAME version i came across years later is 3 hits per single credit.
0:53 and as we all know, prior to Bong Joon-ho, Hwron Howard was the most famous Korean director in the world.
I only encountered this game once in the wild as a kid, and my mom wouldn't give me a quarter to play it. Was one of those games I thought I had imagined until years later
Amazing intro as always
I always wanted to watch Willow as a kid but never got the chance. I finally watched it last year and... It's basically, George Lucas took the Star Wars story and pasted it onto a fantasy setting. It's not bad, per se, but I can certainly see why it's kind of been left behind. This is a pretty good game though, all things considered. A good summation in the video!
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. The only thing in common with star wars is George Lucas.
@Keithby that logic lets lump up more movies that follow that trend.
Another cool looking game that I had no idea existed! Great intro!
I'm not sure how close to the movie it is, but it looks great. I don't think I have ever seen it before, so thank you for bringing attention to it.
This is definitely one of my favorite arcade games since I loved this movie when I was a kid. When I setup mame for the first time all those years ago this was literally the first game I put on it.
I LOVED this game. Thanks for bringing it back to mind. Gonna emulate it later.
This game looks amazing, how did i miss this growing up.
Holy crap, this looks amazing. Definitely going to give this a play.
Fantastic twist on the allready great intro!
I think remember this at an arcade. Memories!
Making my day right off the bat. Thanks drunk!
Passive aggressive stage whisper: IT'S PRONOUNCED WARRICK
That intro! But seriously dude, I love your content!
Wow I didn’t know this even existed thanks for sharing
That is some gorgeous sprite artwork.
The review I've been waiting for! Glad you liked it snes drunk. I can 1cc this game and would love to recomend some strats to anyone interested. Anyone thinking of playing this game seriously should know that it has 3 frames of lag baked in and it is much more enjoyable to play with runahead mode removing those 3 frames. I recommend fbalpha.
Pat Sumerall reference cracked me up.
Hey Drunk, at first I was "I remember the GG's played that NES Zelda clone, I wonder what shenanigans an arcade version must to offer," but I can see I concur that the game "looks right" as a Capcom Arcade game. One of my favourite is Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, so definitely need to find a way to play it, thanks! 👍🏼
Short Intro, but it's so cheerful, i love it! :)
Good morning I hope you have a good rest of your day
Amazing content, SNES drunk. Amazing.
Willow and Double Dragon are provably my most rented games for the nes.
Snes Drunk: this is one of those ganes you have to play any way you can.
Me: Pandora's Box 5S engaged!
The Strider comparison is pretty apt. While this version was based on the movie, the NES version of Willow was based on the novels. Meanwhile, with Strider, the NES version was based on the manga, while the arcade version was its own thing.
In both cases, it was the same universe, same characters, but different continuities.
I would play this every time I visited my local arcade.
i wish Warwick had a bigger career. he was really great in Willow
There's a series about his life today, in the same vein as The Office (the British one), with Ricky Gervais as well 😅
“Bigger”. I see what you did there.
_Willow_ is my favourite short film
@@holiggan2008 ...It's called "Life's Too Short".
I kept waiting for Willow to throw their hair back and forth.
For anyone who has been thinking about getting into FPGA hardware emulation a CPS1 cores has been released for MiSTER FPGA, this game, Street Fighter 2, Stider, Final Fighter and many more are available.
