This is my favorite swim pond of all time. There are so many interactive zones. I also like how there isn't too much wasted space from boulders and you have straight ledges to deep zones.
Absolutely stunning project, Patrick and team! Everything is amazing, the eucalyptus forest in the back, the Aussie native plantings, and especially the water quality!! The house is incredible too.
We are on 120 and your guys are on 230v, so there is a bit of conflict on electrical. We could certainly wire for 230v for the pumps, but I imaging until US manufactureing gets as energy conscious as you folks we are stuck with inefficient pumps. Nice to know it is possible though.
It's so beautiful I just want to dive right in. The whole design all round just brilliant and the colour of that water is so inviting. I also love that the tree was left there, it really looks like you're at the creek. Great work. 😊
Not entirely sure if the fence thing is correct. Queensland Building and Construction Commision states, "Please note that a fish pond that is also being used for swimming may be considered a swimming pool and therefore be required to comply with the pool safety standard." www.qbcc.qld.gov.au/your-property/swimming-pools/swimming-pool-safety-laws I would be very happy to be corrected though. I love these features, and the aesthetic would be ruined with the implementation of a fence.
This is what I envisioned when I bought our property with, & I'm pretty sure the team could do it, a complete eco system and water waste system that recycles all waste water into usable water. The dream of being totally self-sufficient, water saving & environmentally friendly and responsible for our exact area is the goal. We already recycle & work towards off grid sustainability that everyone tells me I have big dreams but I want this beautiful 5acs we have in the middle of the most stunning area I know to last for another 100yrs as it's already done. That means being as earth conscious as is possible to get. Pushing boundaries and ideas and people to the absolute edge of their best abilities, skills and technology, that is as non toxic recyclable & environmentally friendly as I & my family can get. We want to replant, reanimal, regrow & renew our little 5acs without taking anything more from this place, I want to swim and hydrate the land, us & the native wildlife we live with. We're doing that as completely as we can with our wonderful old farmhouse, so why not when it comes to our recreational facilities. We also are gifted with an incredible area for providing our own food. We really want to hand on a legacy to our kids & theirs which can grow, be updated & made better as time passed & the knowledge grows. These guys seem to be on the same path and page as us. Adore the fish aspect to the work as well, we have a number of birds here that rely on the natural food our area provides, the plants, insects and fish are an enormous part of that. We're not the only ones who love water round here!!!!!😊 Even the snakes need a drinky poo in a drought or a super heated day. 🤗 See where I'm going with this, said I had big ideas. ☺️ Love the work, to all who love this type of swimming or ponds as well....... Good On Ya👍✌️🤘💧🇦🇺
damn this stuff is amazing..if there's not a heaven.. then this is it. I wish to put my money and work on this stuff myself as a project in the future.
This is so exciting, I learned about natural pools recently and wondered how viable these magnificent pools would be tp build in Aus. I'm in Brisbane! Right down the road!
Looks amazing and great thought behind it. Can you tell me how there is no pool fence to this pool? it does looks so much better without it but am curious. Great work big fan!
Hi Patrick! i just found your channel on UA-cam from CoralFIsh12g funnily enough. I live in Brisbane and travel through Gumdale often. I'm going to keep an eye out for this place! I want to pay to use that aquascape! Also, I have just completed a Certificate III in Hort/Conservation and Land Management. i know the basics but man, I wish I had the ecological knowledge you have. Do you run workshops or need a volunteer haha? Instantly subscribed.
Thank you for subscribing Aaron! Appreciate the kind words as well. Contact Brett at Aquascape Australia via email - asavic@aquascapesupplies.com.au . He'll be able to fill you in regarding workshop schedules.
The best swim pond I have ever seen ! Thank you Patrick. May I ask what is the depth of the pond ? And what kind of sand and/or pebble you put at the bottom ?
Phillippe it’s around 1.7 meters in the deepest area . There are plenty of shallower social areas in there as well . The sand is a triple washed silica and works well for this use. I also like coarse river sand for that “creek” feel
This is such a gorgeous project ! Thank you for sharing. You said there were (only) 6x36W pumps to circulate and filter 220000 liters ? Are there any jets ? Do you mind sharing how the 6 pumps distributes ?
Patrick - this is amazing. I have two questions. 1- you mentioned (6) 36 W pumps? Do you have a link for the low wattage pumps? 2- In the US most wetlands are about 1 M deep you comments are saying 1.4 M deep. Can you comment on the much deeper wetland? We live in a high desert with very hot summers, I am wondering if it helps to regulate temp?
Our wetlands are calculated at a percentage of the overall water body. When we add depth to wetlands, it could be a combination of temperature control, overall water volume of the project and/or space available vs wetland percentage required for rec ponds. Each project is different. The total depth of the wetland including the central centipede excavation is generally between 1.2 and 1.4 meters deep - the variance is in the depth of the pebble substrates . If we have the flow available from the supply pump I do tend to make the substrate layers a little deeper as they will still function correctly whilst increasing the filtration surface area for beneficial bacteria .
Depth does assist in temperature control - especially in hotter climates, but also in combatting evaporation when coupled with having the water in a reservoir or a deeper wetland.
Gorgeous! Love the home also. Is there anyone who would know how I could find more info on this type of home build? 🤔 I don't believe it's a barndominium. Anyone know of a builder in the U.S. who has a web page with details and Floorplans? The rec pond is absolutely one of the most beautiful ponds ever. A true work of art. Love it! ❤️
The maximum dimensions are approx 18 x 10 at the widest points plus the wetlands, stream and dry beach areas etc . it undulates and not a typical square/round pond , way more interesting this way . Approx 220000 litres in the system
@@Waterscapesaustralia The Boab tree will make it reminiscent of a Kimberley Rockpool. There seems to be much less boulders in this one than other rec ponds. Great job.
Per this style of pond this is the most beautiful one I’ve seen. Idk why the guys in US can’t get their acts together. This is beautiful and natural Esq. and functional. These ponds in the USA I see are brown and make no sense as well as aren’t aesthetically pleasing. They don’t have an eye for what’s natural.
Really hoping for a keel back to show up but alas not as yet , Seriously its a not like you have a snake party when you have a pond. You might get some transient individuals chasing a frog but thats about it.
I really like the design....BUT after I built to connecting ponds I had snakes move in to eat the frogs and that was a problem.so after 3 black snakes and 2 brown being a threat to my kids I reluctintly had to close them down ,as my neibours also complained that it was the ponds that brought them.
Thanks for your reply The sand area (before the water edge) is soggy and wet and hard, not dry and inviting to lay on or hang out on. I’m not even sure if this is possible to have or if sand works like this in ponds though. The rock work and design and waterfall area is exceptional though. How does the filtration system work?

I agree, the Melaleuca tree looks stunning, After a couple of wet summers, has it been problematic at all? Thinking more of leaf-drop in dryer times.

Hi Philippe.. What Patrick meant to say was there are 6 x 20,000lph 36v low voltage pumps running the wetlands and multiple jets.
Patrick - this is amazing. I have two questions. 1- you mentioned (6) 36 W pumps?
