  • We've had a lot of interest in our Natural Swimming pool so we're here to share some more nice images and, hopefully, some useful details for anyone thinking of converting an existing pool or getting started with their own. Trust us, swimming in chemical free, living water feels so much better...
    The pool is a great new feature at Sarinbuana Eco Lodge in Bali, Indonesia. It's at 700m above sea level in a relatively cool tropical environment. As we upload this video it's been running for one and a half years, since January 2020.
    Please feel free to comment with any questions and for serious inquires contact us via the links below. Thanks for watching and come over for a dip anytime!

    After spending 3 days swimming in a conventional chlorinated hotel pool in Bali, I am fully convinced that all hotels should strive to convert to natural & chemical free- Its a no brainer. 1. Better for the environment 2. Better for your health 3. Better for your budget. It's a beautiful win win situation!

    It might be worthwhile to convert from standard pumps to bubble pumps. You can move a LOT more water, and naturally...vs a mechanical pump. Plus they cost much less to run. Just a suggestion. LOVE what you've done here.

    I've been looking at doing a natural pool in my garden in Bangkok and also at a cycling facility I'm doing at Bangkok airport. It's refreshing to see your videos which are clear, straight forward and informative. That's in addition to seeing the wonderful pool and lodge you've built. I may follow-up when my plans are better formed in the meantime all the best for the future.

    This is an awesome pool. Definitely one of the best pools I've seen. Do you actively feed the little fish that you have in there or are they just finding their own food in the water?

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  2 роки тому +2

      Wow! That's so kind of you, we're really happy with it :) That's right, the fish find little bits of algae and any small insects that fall in the water to eat.

    • @activehivegaming5368

      That makes sense. You wouldn't want to be adding more nutrients to the water.

    I’ve watched all of your videos. Excellent job! I’ve built plenty of saltwater and freshwater aquarium systems, so the concepts I’m familiar with. Questions: what is the water volume of this pool (gallons)? What size pumps are you using (gph)? What is the process of cleaning your gravel beds?

      Hi Bryan, thank you! Yep our pool is basically a massive aquarium so completely get where you're coming from. If you'd like some info on the pool pls sends an email through to baliproeco@gmail.com. Cheers, the eco lodge family.

    do you also recycle the wastewater from your kitchen and bathroom sinks? would be a nice green feature for your lodge.

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  8 місяців тому

      Great point. Yes, we consider managing waste water one of the fundamental steps to take as an Eco business. The solutions are also relatively affordable and simple to achieve through vegetated waste water gardens. Each of our bungalows and restaurant feed into one and this was always part of the initial infrastructure. This could be great topic for a video as well, thanks for the idea! Best, the eco lodge family.

      @@baliecolodge i was thinking more in the aspect of recycled wastewater in flushing toilets. but the wastewater to landscape is also a good idea.

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  8 місяців тому

      Ah, we've never had the need or seen recycling water as a major concern as water is plentiful here, raining throughout the year. Certainly more pressing in areas drying up.@@peterpiper5300

    Hi Norm:-) how often should the water in a natural pool be exchanged? I have a little 6kl splash pool that I've converted and I'm in a warm climate. Should my pump exchange all 6kl per day? Or twice a day? Or less often? What's the general rule? Thanks so much Norm! Richard from South Africa

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  Рік тому +1

      Hi Richard. Norm suggests a minimum of 1 full turn over per day, 1.5 per day is recommended. Cheers!

    I really like this ... yet the first question which comes to mind is ... does it create a mosquito factory? Please advise ... 🙂

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Greg, no it shouldn't! A pool that is well aerated and circulated is not an ideal habitat for mosquito larvae. They prefer small undisturbed stagnant pools of water. As an extra precaution, we have free swimming predatory fish which will pick off any larvae in the pool :)

    How frequently should we change the pool water ? Or how much percent of water changes needs to be done & in what duration ?

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  Рік тому

      We never change the water, it is a fully circulating system. If everything is working well the filtration systems should keep the water clear without replenishing with fresh water.

    • @baliecolodge
      @baliecolodge  Рік тому

      Hi there. It might be better to have some sort of power storage for overnight pumping as it is crucial to keep oxygen levels high overnight to keep water fresh. Hope this helps!

    Did I hear right that you have to clean the pool for 15 minutes every day!? That's a lot of effort for a natural pool. I assume you are doing this to control biofilm in the swimzone?
