Unlock the Magic: Play Reggae Beat on Acoustic Guitar
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2021
- The video is all about how to play the reggae beat on an acoustic guitar. I start by introducing the reggae rhythm, which is a style of music that comes from Jamaica.
I say that the rhythm is based on something called the "one-drop pattern", which means you accent the third beat of each measure.
To demonstrate the rhythm, I use a simple chord progression of G, C, and D. I break down the rhythm into two parts: the bass line and the strumming pattern.
The bass line means playing the root notes of each chord on beats one and three, while the strumming pattern involves strumming the guitar on the offbeats between beats one and three.
I emphasize the importance of keeping a steady rhythm and playing with a relaxed wrist. I then add some variations to the strumming pattern, such as muting the strings and adding palm slaps.
I also show how to incorporate a "chuck" sound by lightly muting the strings with the left hand while strumming with the right hand.
Overall, the video is a helpful guide for anyone who wants to learn how to play the reggae rhythm on the guitar.
By following my tips and practicing regularly, you can add some fun and variety to your playing style

Hi jack, I love that song Rasta Love, I think I can sing this, but without a Rap
I'll see,.. Thanks for your question :)
I love how you teach but Is there any way at least you could elaborate more on that strumming technique
Thank you, I’ll share video on the strumming technique of this reggae rhythm, 🙏🏼🤩
Brother. Can you tell me which chords are you on. I am beginner. I learned the strumming pattern. But can't understand chords
Hi Ayush, you can use chord any chord , major or minor , On this video I am using A MINOR , try it yourself 🙏🏼😊🎸
I am a bit lost. Between the second strum and the bass my guitar chord is still sounding… why isnt that the case when you play? Thanks man! Great Video🤙🏼
Best to use barre chord - press lightly so it’s muted sound when strumming. I may make a better video on this topic. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼👍🏼

@@ChaRahgung Alright, thanks a lot!
😎
Thanks Oliver
What hapen if you do two time "bass/kick" (faster) is it correct?
Hi Patrick
In this video I am sharing one technique, you can combine any way to achieve the beat - in this particular topic " reggae style" . Yes Of course you can do two time kick as long as it stays on tempo. I hope that helps :)

🙏🏼😀
Whenever I do the base part with my wrist, it pains me for days,is this normal or maybe constantly practicing it would be less tenderness at my wrist?????
Just take it slow first and with short period of time exercising, we want to play comfortably not in pain. 😊🙏🏼
💞💞💞💓💓
Thank you for the loooovesssa 🙏🏼🎸
💓🥰
Thank you Kavishka 😊🙏🏼
Ok so weird question but can reggae on a bass guitar be done
Great idea, I haven’t tried that. Thank you 🎸😊🙏🏼
@@ChaRahgung your welcome? I’m more of a bass player than a guitar person so I wanted to know
But also thank you for making the video!
@@thescaletblur07 i just tried, not possible for me to add bass on this strumming plus drumming. 😁 I’m sure someone can do this. I’ve seen many acoustic guitar players doing incredible technique which I can’t do
I love THE BASS with drum on reggae genre. This what makes REGGAE a REGGAE 🎸😊🙏🏼 (I think)
@@ChaRahgung it’s ok I tried with my bass. You can kinda do it with out the strum and replace it with a single note but I don’t know if that would qualify as reggae
Amazing! What r the chrods u used i was able to recoginze the G but what's the other one
It’s A minor, Frank, glad you like it 🙏🏼😊🎸
What chords dude?
A minor
How to mute the chords Sir 😭
For this trick, use BARR CHORD - not open string
Iam indian north east christian 👍
Peace :)

How do you play reggae? The bassline defines the riddim and the harmony in reggae. No reggae bass=no reggae.
Yes I agree with you bass and drum much defines this style, I am just showing simple reggae beat with solo acoustic guitar. ☺️🙏🏼
