"the cave of the unknown" is actually a place marked on the old Caves of Chaos regional map .. its either "for the GM to develop thier own dungeon", or a possible location for "In Search of the Unknown" (original dnd mod B1) depending on who you ask :) So that kinda does indicate that this is indeed the Basic Fantasy "keep on the borderlands" :)

Perfect description of the Compleat Strategist. One day those bowed shelves will collapse into a neutron ball of cardboard and plastic.

I recently purchased Basic Fantasy 4th Edition (soft cover) from Amazon for just over £10 here in the UK.
It is worth every penny 😊😀

My group played Rifts back in high school (class of 93). Even back then I ran into people who never played(Rifts or Palladium) at the local game stores. The system has it's ups and downs. Palladium Fantasy is the simplest version, I recommend it over Rifts for a first play. If you can find it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles uses the same basic system and might be more appropriate for a one-shot.

If you want to convert this module to Palladium Fantasy, you just have to replace Monster stats with the Palladium version, as he states in the video. You'd probably need to make a fast and dirty character to cover the NPC characters, or search a book of NPC pregens for a good stand-in.

Yeah, that "coat yourself in their blood and the bad guys will think you are one of them" is straight out of the Walking Dead. It makes sense in that universe... It's a meta gaming thing when done in a DnD context. I wouldn't even say anything: just let them try it, and watch it fail miserably. Lol

Good point! There’s definitely some fun to be had in playing the reaction of the goblins to these adventurers conspicuously covered in the blood of their brethren!
