At age 15 I was lucky enough to see GG open for Yes on the '76 US tour. Mind blown before Yes even took the stage!

I saw Yes once. I would rather have seen Gentle Giant. Such fantastic musicianship, complex and deep. I never tire of seeing their live shows on UA-cam. Thank you, Bruno! Thank you, band! RIP Ray. I am 64 and still inspired by this fantastic group. I get the feeling some of these gentlemen have played music together in previous lives.

Great job! The thing that really needs to be addressed is how unbelievable their groove is. To me their funky pocket is the thing that really separates them from all other prog bands.

I saw them at the Roxy in L.A. (I'm 63) I sat overlooking the keyboards and could see the drummer perfectly. They were so tight and were freely improvising and embellishing over already supremely complex musical arrangements of the albums, adapted for the stage. BETTER live, by a country mile.

    Fun details:
    1) R.I.P. Ray Shulman who during this performance plays Fender bass, acoustic & electric guitars, trumpet, violin, plus also provides backing vocals.
    2) Lead singer wears a jumpsuit with initials "DV$" stencilled on them: "Derek Victor Shulman." The S is a dollar sign, fitting as he took over management and tried during these latter years to improve their prospects in America.
    3) Drummer John Weathers wears an Oakland A's jersey with the number "69" on the back. Nice.

Among all the wonders this song has, arrangement wise, the exquisite and uneffortfully fluid bass lines Ray play towards the end are what I love the most. He is and will be sorely missed, such an underrated bass player!

Ray's bass playing at the end of On Reflection is absolutely amazing. I always think of that part when I have conversations about the best bass players of all time.

They were unique. In my opinion 1978 was the last good year for their musical inspiration. After this they began to be very sadly and without a focus.
