At age 15 I was lucky enough to see GG open for Yes on the '76 US tour. Mind blown before Yes even took the stage!
I saw Yes once. I would rather have seen Gentle Giant. Such fantastic musicianship, complex and deep. I never tire of seeing their live shows on UA-cam. Thank you, Bruno! Thank you, band! RIP Ray. I am 64 and still inspired by this fantastic group. I get the feeling some of these gentlemen have played music together in previous lives.
Wonderful band!! Loved them, love them❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great job! The thing that really needs to be addressed is how unbelievable their groove is. To me their funky pocket is the thing that really separates them from all other prog bands.
I saw them at the Roxy in L.A. (I'm 63) I sat overlooking the keyboards and could see the drummer perfectly. They were so tight and were freely improvising and embellishing over already supremely complex musical arrangements of the albums, adapted for the stage. BETTER live, by a country mile.
Fun details:
1) R.I.P. Ray Shulman who during this performance plays Fender bass, acoustic & electric guitars, trumpet, violin, plus also provides backing vocals.
2) Lead singer wears a jumpsuit with initials "DV$" stencilled on them: "Derek Victor Shulman." The S is a dollar sign, fitting as he took over management and tried during these latter years to improve their prospects in America.
3) Drummer John Weathers wears an Oakland A's jersey with the number "69" on the back. Nice.
They still blow me away 😮I’m 70 years old…it’s 3/11/23 play the violin and sing in the “round” …. It never gets old…… never!
One of the best progressive rock bands with a distinctive style.
Among all the wonders this song has, arrangement wise, the exquisite and uneffortfully fluid bass lines Ray play towards the end are what I love the most. He is and will be sorely missed, such an underrated bass player!
Fantastic. I have the audio in Quadraphonic sound from the BBC radio broadcast!
'Memories of Old Days' - such a fantastic song.
Fantastic! It's so sad these guys never got the recognition they deserved!
Thanks Bruno!
Amazing Band To See Live , Musically Superb , Progressive Rock At It’s Gentle Giant Finest
Ray's bass playing at the end of On Reflection is absolutely amazing. I always think of that part when I have conversations about the best bass players of all time.
RIP Ray.
One of Classic Progs "Greatest" Band !!! 👍
Fantastic Musicianship and all Multi-instrumentalist !! 🎶
Great stage presence always fun and a great show !! 🎼
I feel Blessed that I saw GG four times in 8/75' & 10/75' Boston, 2/77' & 11/77' Boston just great !! 🎶
1978 and punk was happening. GG were being more energetic than before!
Compared to that, Punks were children. Anyway they had to cut their hair !
Thank you, this show is restored in a very good quality. Also, these guys were so talented...
Thank you !! And its Ray Shulman Birthday today!
So impressive. What a band of really talented musicians. Amazing stuff...
Dude, your remasters are awesome, thank you so much for this
This is progressive rock personified. Thank you so much for uploading and preserving this
You are doing God's work bro 🙏
Start of 70ies this was one the experimental group that was a "must have" in my collection .. Thanks for playing..
Yes. I'll comment every GG video you upload 🤣🤣
Just too good. Wish more ppl listen to this ❤
Thank you so much for uploading this! Some bands have one or two superb musicians, but to have five - !!! Phenomenal music, phenomenal musicians!
Future Generations with appreciate this Remastering, Thanks a bunch brother!
I love Freehand's record...GG Rules!
One of my favourite Sight & Sound In Concerts and in excellent picture quality, also well worth checking are their earlier group Simon Dupree and the Big Sound, famous for the hit single "Kites".
Genial banda.👏👏👏
Absolutely amazing band to see live , musically second to none , progressive Rock At It’s Finest
Freakin Ray shulman man
what a set of musicians
Gods!
RIP Ray
r.i.p. ray
Parabéns Bruno por divulgar essa excelente banda!!
Graciassss
They were unique. In my opinion 1978 was the last good year for their musical inspiration. After this they began to be very sadly and without a focus.
Simply great 😳👍
Thank You BRUNO!!!!
Never have been able to figure out what the TV lighting guys were trying to do, but you did a nice job of mopping up their mess Bruno!
That's EXACTLY how two GIANTS meet , BRUNO & the BAND ...
( Bruno , where are You born ? )
Hi, friend. Thank you very much. I'm from Brazil.
Cheers!
Thanks, good job !
trás algo do soft machine, yes e kc
What's the difference? Everything looks crisper, but I can't put my finger on it. Good work, whatever it is.
I was wondering what tools were you using to breathe new life into your videos? Was this one from a dvd? I have so many french concerts on dvd format and would like to give them the same treatment.

Sezione ritmica da paura 😳
I'd like to see Lenin, Shears, Starkey and Harrison try to play any of this stuff. They would fold up like a AAA road map! Sheep Shaggers > Scousers!!!
