An Oral History with Patrick Smith

On March 28th, 2022, editor and writer Patrick Smith sat down with OPERA America's President/CEO Marc A. Scorca for a conversation about opera and their life.
Patrick Smith’s book The Tenth Muse: A Historical Study of the Opera Libretto was published in 1970. Since then, his book A Year at the Met was published in 1983, he was an editor/publisher for The Musical Newsletter, and President of the Music Critics Association. He’s been a critic for numerous publications, including Opera Magazine, Musical America, and The Times in of London, the Director of Musical-America Theater Program and the opera-musical theater program at the National Endowment for the Arts, and editor at Opera News.
