This is probably my favourite arcade game, along with Crazy Taxi. I just love how simple the controls are as well, no need to worry about combos or anything, a game you can play with a beer and have a blast. Has such a great charm to it. Thanks for the video man!
Some of my best memories in my life are going to putt-putt and playing this game. It's been my dream since I was a kid to own the cabinet. Might grab the 1up repro one day if I ever can make room for it lol
I just played this for the first time yesterday in an arcade place! I was really impressed since I had never played an actual 90s arcade before, haha. Im 16
The first time I ever played it was at a pizza place, they opened an addition on the side full of arcade games, and this was one of them. It was brand new and I'd never seen anything quite that cool. Couldn't decide whether to spend my money on pizza or the Simpsons game!
Back in the day this machine and the tmnt machine were my favorites. I also remember this arcade place where they had a machine with a plastic arm and you had to arm wrestle it. I loved that one too but after it almost broke my arm one day I never messed with it again. If you placed your arm in a bad angle that shit could easily mess your arm real good. It didn’t surprise me that they ended up getting rid of that machine a couple of weeks later
First time I saw this The Simpsons arcade game cabinet in March 1991, when my mom was stationed in Washington, D.C./Maryland area at Walter Reed in the U.S. military when this came out. This was made by Konami. And It would have 1 or 2 years after The Simpsons came out on television or a couple years, maybe. Konami, at the time was making a lot of really cool 4-player games like this. The 1st they did was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which was a big hit. Then they did X-Men. They did The Simpsons. They did Turtles in Time, which was the 2nd Turtles arcade game. They did Sunset Riders. They did Asterix. They did Bucky O' Hare. They did Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa, They did Mystic Warriors. They did Metamorphic Force. And that may be it. Years later, in late 1996, when I lived at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, I saw this same arcade game. I had several quarter's and spent a few hours playing it up four players to control members of the Simpson family: Homer, Marge, Bart and/or Lisa. I could've beating the whole game for all 8 levels to save Maggie from Mr. Smithers. The last time I saw this arcade game was in 2001, and I would love to see this, again, one day. This game is just a reskin of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The Arcade that used to exist in our local mall had this. I had to be dragged out because I was laughing so hard at Marge and Lisa's attack style I was crying.
Poor Snowball II. Especially in the side art of this cabinet. The way Homer was stepping on her tail. And you said Homer was stepping on her tail accidentally.
8:04 That's the kid who was in Season 1 Moaning Lisa in the Boxing arcade game scene. That's where homer needs that kid's help at the Arcade to beat Bart on the Boxing video game from home. But unfortunately, Marge unplugs the game because of her announcement.
There is one more 4 player cab that you didn't name, Mystic Warriors, which claimed in the attract mode that "it would be sure to be a mega hit", and likely was not sadly. This game never saw a console port, but did see a DOS one. This would eventually wind up emulated on stuff like PSN and XBox Live, but the game has long been delisted from them.
Is there a way to pick a character with any of the controllers or is the controller stuck with the designated character? Also, in the settings, can this be altered?
The original cabinet was 4 players, so no you just played whichever character your joystick represented. You can set it to 2 players in a 2 player cabinet, and that allows you to select your character. I've never tested that out though because I always had the 4 player. As a kid it was kind of cool that each joystick was a seperate character... it was like that was Homer's spot, or whatever. Same thing on the Turtles game, if you stand over here you're Leonardo, if you stand over here you're Donatello.
20:33 It's too bad Sam and Larry or Lenny and Carl is not in the bar and speaking of Moe got pranked on prank calls, Sometimes, Homer laughs at moe because of Homer Sexual, B.O. Problem, and Ivana Tinkle however, in Season 1 like Homer's Odysee and Some enchanted evening Homer said, "You'll get that punk someday, Moe." and "I do hope you'll find that punk someday, Moe." and While Barney Laughs at moe, Sam and Larry laughs at moe too. Now, in season 14 and In donnie fatso and The serfsons, Lenny and Carl laughs at moe because of Milady Potts, Heywood Cuddleme, and Yuri Nator and of course, the prank text of I.M.A. Weiner. and When I see Season 29 Gone boy when I see prank call of Tes T. Cles, I love it when Sam, Barney and Carl laughing together
niceguy60 obviously they made a thousand games but I was talking about four player games in that particular cabinet... X-men, turtles, turtles in time, cowboys of moo Mesa, the simpsons.... and one or two more
There's all sorts of inconsistencies with the aging of the Simpsons. There is one episode that shows Abe and Homer back in the day, and Abe was 35 when Homer was 6. But in later episodes, Abe is supposedly over 40 years older than Homer.

One of my all time favourite arcade games!/
I've beaten this game twice! 🙂 Good times.
Very cool, kind of a long game too!
I beat it with this dude at the arcade cost me 6bucks
I just played this for the first time yesterday in an arcade place! I was really impressed since I had never played an actual 90s arcade before, haha. Im 16
Glad you got a little taste of what it used to be like!
I never noticed the kid in the arcade, playing the same game lol. Nice touch, Konami.
The background characters and references in the Arcade are from Season 1 and 2 in the late 80's and early 90's.
Loved all the Konami 4 player games. I think the first time I played this was at a 7-11 store
The first time I ever played it was at a pizza place, they opened an addition on the side full of arcade games, and this was one of them. It was brand new and I'd never seen anything quite that cool. Couldn't decide whether to spend my money on pizza or the Simpsons game!
I remember beating this game in Texas.I had 100 quarter's and spent 3 hour's playing it.
Aw yeah! Just picked up the Arcade 1up version. Currently working on assembling it. Not entirely easy.
Hands Down my favorite Arcade game of all time besides Turtles in Time!
Yup its a classic!

Spent a lot of money on this one back in the day!
This is one of the only games I specifically remember where I saw it...

4:18 *BART AND LISA'S BATTLE CRY INTENSIFIES*
Yup!
One of the best arcade game ever made.
We got another one in, we'll have a video up of it soon :)
11:43 There's Milhouse
Yup!
great video joe! nostalgia 100%
You know that's right!
& they also did the greatest Beat 'em up of all-time- Vendetta.
The Arcade that used to exist in our local mall had this. I had to be dragged out because I was laughing so hard at Marge and Lisa's attack style I was crying.
I remember seeing it at the local arcade I thought it was pretty cool. It was next to a pizza joint.
This and the G.I Joe arcade games are my 2 favorite Konami games.
I've never had the G.I. Joe one in, it would be awesome though!
Poor Snowball II. Especially in the side art of this cabinet. The way Homer was stepping on her tail. And you said Homer was stepping on her tail accidentally.

I remember that now, it's been forever since I saw it!
I'M FROM ROCK HILL! Live in Wilmington, NC
Lisa: "Há, Há, Made you look 😛!".
She's such a classic character :)
I forgot about the joining up feature. How do you make that happen again?

I swear I remember seeing this irl at a party but I didn’t get to play it
Sounds like one hell of a party :)
21:28 That's Bleeding gums Murphy From Season 1 Moaning Lisa. Frankly In Season 6 Round Springfield, He died in the hospital.
I remember that one...
RIP
there is one at my local pawn shop, it's been there for years
If it's affordable you ought to pick it up! Or are they operating it?
Dude buy it. Where is this pawn shop.
niceguy60 it's Most Wanted in Prince Edward Island they sell a bunch of old games and what not
How much was it??
Is there a way to pick a character with any of the controllers or is the controller stuck with the designated character?

Yeah I agree part of the charm was standing in the specific spot, each character had their own coin slot

Remember in the NES version "Bart Vs. The Space Mutants" you could call in from the payphone outside :)
@@LyonsArcade Oh.
Do you forget to mention Street Fighter 2 when u thinking about arcade games in early 1990's?
I can't remember I may have been just talking of the Konami cabinets but yes Street Fighter 2 was AWESOME
@@LyonsArcade Oh, Yes, I forgot Street fighter is in capcom
How would you clean the artwork up? Great video btw.
You might be able to clean it with wax but a lot of the problem is a lot of it is worn off already. This was about as clean as we could get it.
Lisa and Maggie Simpson remind me of the dinosaurs in the game trog form midway in 1990
They DO look like that :)
GO BEARCATS! That's where my dad, Andy Scott went to school. I don't guess you know any Varnadores?
One or Two more?
They did everything, Bucky O Hare, Moo Mesa, Aliens, Gi Joe, Metamorphic Force, Mystic Warriors, Vendetta, Gaiapolis, Asterix
niceguy60 obviously they made a thousand games but I was talking about four player games in that particular cabinet... X-men, turtles, turtles in time, cowboys of moo Mesa, the simpsons.... and one or two more
8:35 There's Principal Skinner and Martin
Good catch!
@@LyonsArcade Thanks.
Do you guys had or have mystic warriors? :0
We've never had that one in!
This is crazy. Where did you find this
We pick them up from time to time....
Cool
Thanks for watching!
Awesome game!
Thanks Joey! We're putting another Simpsons video up tomorrow!
I just bought the simpsons arcade game for $500 in almost good condition, how much did you pay for yours?
I paid less but mine was broken, we sold it for about $2200 though so you did really good.
@@LyonsArcade thank you
11:23 There's Dr. Marvin Monroe.
Nice catch again!
@@LyonsArcade Thanks. There were some characters that you forgot to mention when you play the game.
Damn... You lucky...
Thanks Channel. We sold it awhile back however :(
@@LyonsArcade how much do they go for??
I found this in a mall but sadly the arcade it was in was closed
Yeah unfortunately most of them have closed now!
スーパーグレートクラブの大冒険

Yes!
@@LyonsArcade thanks! ( ˘ ³˘)♥︎
All arcade people seem to call this simply "Simpsons".
Can you hire an artist to give the side art a color refresher
Yes, you could. They now make some pretty decent sideart too at www.szabosarcades.com
Giggity
cool Simpson's arcade game
Thanks Tomy!
@@LyonsArcade you're welcome!
I live in Rock Hill......
Sweet Matt, swing by sometime we're downtown on Caldwell St. near the Millstone
I will do that, I live over by the Galleria Mall, I would love to find a Mortal Kombat 2 arcade.
I want to play so bad but I can't find the game anywhere
+Zach Richards Yeah unfortunately they don't pop up often... I'm not even sure they ever even released it for home systems...
There is one at my local mall in the store Slackers. Fun game.
It WAS DLC on xbox live. I got the pcb for it.
Zach Richards we have one here in my hometown Chico, Cali. I know the owner whom just bought it like a few months ago.
@@niceguy60 say what?? It was a dlc for what game?? Can you still buy it on xbox live
