So since Jack didn't really get it, what was going on is that the woman questioning you and stuff was running a human trafficking ring like the paper at the end said. What she was doing was abducting children from foster care and troubled homes and drugging them up for years until they forgot everything except what she brainwashed into them. The guy you're playing as gets home after being presumed dead overseas and comes back a hero for your miraculous survival, only to find out your little brother is missing. So you go looking for him, and your brother who was mostly brainwiped sees a newspaper of you and remembers, so he tries to escape the asylum and cult. You two briefly reunite, but get attacked during the escape attempt by the "doctor" and her goons. He doesn't make it, and the boat sinks from the bullet holes. You barely get away alive, but while you're hurt and hiding from them in an old lodge she frames you as a murderer and gets the police to arrest you for killing your brother, which diverts all the reporters and investigations about to catch her for her psychotic crap. And to make sure nobody ever finds out she keeps you locked up in her asylum drugging you with the same pills she brainwashes the kids with trying to make you submit and join the cult. One of the "priests" involved doesn't agree with her methods with you and just wants it over, so he gets you to stop taking the pills, but after your escape and the operation being discovered at last, he gets away and hunts you down for your part in their downfall. Also Jack missed it but if you look through the window in the confessional booth at the right time you see a giant reptile eye, I think as some comparison to the priest being like the snake in the garden of Eden, granting us knowledge but dooming us to suffering.

Wow, such a surreal experience. Seeing an insane man, isolated and alone inside of a room, seeing things that aren't actually there, interacting with that which is not real as he falls deeper and deeper into insanity, all whilst playing a video game about the exact same thing. Incredible
seeing Sean bang on the walls with a chair, play basket ball with an origami ball, and yell at satan makes me think he'd be the perfect example of a rowdy Psych ward patient to use for staff training. they should just play this video for them at the start of training and test them on what to do 😂
As someone who legitimately works security in a mental health ward... You're like half right. I've definitely seen patients act very similar. Only difference is Sean isn't smearing his own excrement on the walls or randomly whipping his junk out to show it off. Which, let's be honest, he probably *would* do if it wouldn't get him demonetized.

A swan boat materializes out of the mists. A deranged-looking man with shoulder-length hair and a beard is clinging to the neck of the swan, pointing into the mists. "I see treeeees of greeeen..... red roses too...." This is the horror game opening we needed.
Screen flashes to black and a voice is heard "Hell is that my child? Tiny child it's me, your dad.." *What a Wonderful World continues playing ominously in the background. The same man is seen throwing a chair at a wall. The sound echoes. Black screen. "Dad's gone a little crazy but we'll get out of here".. Scene cuts to a news reporter. The camera zooms in on her and transitions out back to the swamp where the man is ducking from shots, intense music plays as his grunts echo. Fade to black , crocodile eye opens closed-up on screen, eye turns red and transitions into a red ball being placed under cups and switched around..
45:00 As a photographer I love how accurately they portrayed the developing of the photograph, I remember doing this process in my photography class in high school, taking photos on film was a really nice experience as well (feels bad for the people that accidentally bleached their film in the light)

So, cool thing to note, The number displayed on the milk cartons is for the National center for missing and exploited children. I tried to look up the pictures and names on the milk carton but i'm not sure if they are actual missing kids, which would've been REALLY cool of them to do, but I imagine there might be legal reasons they wouldn't have been able to post actual pictures of missing children, which is understandable.
i dont think it would be cool to reference actual tragedies for a game that is only related by topic. im glad they made them up and thanks for looking into it 💪
Tidbits that have cracked me up so far: The discord voice chat noises, "is that my brain ringing? can someone answer it?", the holy Bibble, the reveal that Sean has read the Holy Bibble 5 times, smashing the cell with his chair and then begging for pills, swan senses, the blessings of the wall deer, the ongoing conversations with Mary, the whole Bonesy interactions but especially Megalovania while talking to Bonesy, "Up yours... Father". Great game!
The vr motion sickness is always temporary. I used to nearly vomit when playing but after a short while of playing games with low intensity ratings you get your sea legs, you should give it another go, it is hella fun

Having someone force me to take medication, specifically if it's implied that the medication induces psychological or emotional change, has always been a fear of mine for some reason. I know no one will ever force me to do that but I've always been scared of a situation where that does occur, so the point at 41:21 genuinely gave me chills despite not being a "scary" moment. It's just an irrational fear of mine
I wouldn't really consider that an irrational fear, though, but I guess it does sorta depend on your situation. Like, I was involuntarily admitted to the ward once and they forced me to take Zoloft which I neither wanted to or needed to take. The whole experience was so bad I quit therapy altogether and haven't gone back to it despite probably needing to. So that kind of thing does actually happen.

Going for any kind of medical treatment it could technically end up kind this is the medical personal just say you can decide for yourself, even tho your completely competent you just disagree.
I was Court ordered to go into this phych ward when I was 17 to avoid going to jail (29 now). They legit put me in with all the REAL people suffering from psychological issues. They put me on medications that I wasn't told the purpose of. They'd have people who'd make SURE you took them. Someone would check your mouth with a tool after every dose to make sure it was taken. After a day 6 I started having major issues with memory. I could barely remember what I did yesterday. Everything was hazey. During group I would have to sit next to Anna. Anna suffered from some severe cognative condition I forget the name of which caused her hallucinations. While I sat next to her, she would mumble and quiver as if she was in severe pain. She'd occasionally speak up louder than just a mumble, and turn her head to a random direction, before begging for help. She would say things like "They're nailing my hands to the chair. Help me. Please." ... I felt so f**king bad. I so deeply wanted to help her but there was nothing that I realistically could do. I'd I spent majority of my time there around Anna once my initial fear of her faded. I hope she's doing okay.
@@harmonyquinn2557 I don't even think they're technically allowed to do that but they find little loopholes and such that make it "okay" to do so. Like in my case where I was made to see the on-site psychiatrist. I spent a good 30 or 40 minutes going back and forth with him - him asking if I would be willing to take the medication and me replying that I would not - until I realized that they weren't going to let me leave the room until I agreed to. I even asked him if I could go, now, and he just asked me if I'd take the medication, again, completely ignoring my question...and I was too scared to just get up and leave without permission for fear of repercussion or even sure if I could since he was sitting between me and the closed door. That exchange where I was coerced was the only time I met him, we started the exchange with me asking how long I'd be there for because I had already been there a week and as far as I was aware involuntarily admission was meant to only be a week long, and afterwards when I was released I found out that with those two exchanges being all we had he still diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder. My therapist said in our last meeting together where I told her I would no longer be comfortable with seeing her that I'd unlikely be able to contest it and get the diagnosis removed from my record. The ward also refused to believe me when I informed them that I was diagnosed with autism (lvl 2) because "girls don't have autism" which is a false and outdated belief...on top of that they tried to take my cane which I need because I'm legally blind. It was wild. I even had to go to court via zoom to prove that I didn't need to be further admitted to a state facility where some lady I'd only spoken to for maybe 5 minutes max said I needed to further admitted because I "claimed" I was autistic and because I was a danger to myself and society. I was the only one in my group that managed to win their case. One of the nurses came up to me afterwards and said to my face that she had no idea how id managed to win and get to go home. When I looked into the place to see if there had been any complaints filed against them I found out that they'd accidentally k*lled a patient a couple years before I was admitted, too. And that's the only ward in my area willing to take me because of my disabilities which is why I'm so terrified that if I start therapy again I might get involuntarily admitted again. It really, truly, royally sucks because I'd love to go back into therapy otherwise. :((

I wouldn't really consider that an irrational fear, though, but I guess it does sorta depend on your situation. Like, I was involuntarily admitted to the ward once and they forced me to take Zoloft which I neither wanted to or needed to take. The whole experience was so bad I quit therapy altogether and haven't gone back to it despite probably needing to. So that kind of thing does actually happen.
@@faedanteaamess672that kind of thing happens ALL the time. I don’t want to freak OP out but if you ever go to a psych ward, even voluntarily, this will happen. Going for any kind of medical treatment it could technically end up kind this is the medical personal just say you can decide for yourself, even tho your completely competent you just disagree.
I was Court ordered to go into this phych ward when I was 17 to avoid going to jail (29 now). They legit put me in with all the REAL people suffering from psychological issues. They put me on medications that I wasn't told the purpose of. They'd have people who'd make SURE you took them. Someone would check your mouth with a tool after every dose to make sure it was taken. After a day 6 I started having major issues with memory. I could barely remember what I did yesterday. Everything was hazey. During group I would have to sit next to Anna. Anna suffered from some severe cognative condition I forget the name of which caused her hallucinations. While I sat next to her, she would mumble and quiver as if she was in severe pain. She'd occasionally speak up louder than just a mumble, and turn her head to a random direction, before begging for help. She would say things like "They're nailing my hands to the chair. Help me. Please." ... I felt so f**king bad. I so deeply wanted to help her but there was nothing that I realistically could do. I'd I spent majority of my time there around Anna once my initial fear of her faded. I hope she's doing okay.
@@harmonyquinn2557 I don't even think they're technically allowed to do that but they find little loopholes and such that make it "okay" to do so. Like in my case where I was made to see the on-site psychiatrist. I spent a good 30 or 40 minutes going back and forth with him - him asking if I would be willing to take the medication and me replying that I would not - until I realized that they weren't going to let me leave the room until I agreed to. I even asked him if I could go, now, and he just asked me if I'd take the medication, again, completely ignoring my question...and I was too scared to just get up and leave without permission for fear of repercussion or even sure if I could since he was sitting between me and the closed door. That exchange where I was coerced was the only time I met him, we started the exchange with me asking how long I'd be there for because I had already been there a week and as far as I was aware involuntarily admission was meant to only be a week long, and afterwards when I was released I found out that with those two exchanges being all we had he still diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder. My therapist said in our last meeting together where I told her I would no longer be comfortable with seeing her that I'd unlikely be able to contest it and get the diagnosis removed from my record. The ward also refused to believe me when I informed them that I was diagnosed with autism (lvl 2) because "girls don't have autism" which is a false and outdated belief...on top of that they tried to take my cane which I need because I'm legally blind. It was wild.
I even had to go to court via zoom to prove that I didn't need to be further admitted to a state facility where some lady I'd only spoken to for maybe 5 minutes max said I needed to further admitted because I "claimed" I was autistic and because I was a danger to myself and society. I was the only one in my group that managed to win their case. One of the nurses came up to me afterwards and said to my face that she had no idea how id managed to win and get to go home. When I looked into the place to see if there had been any complaints filed against them I found out that they'd accidentally k*lled a patient a couple years before I was admitted, too. And that's the only ward in my area willing to take me because of my disabilities which is why I'm so terrified that if I start therapy again I might get involuntarily admitted again. It really, truly, royally sucks because I'd love to go back into therapy otherwise. :((
