1. I thought it was OK at best, looking back. 2. This is the best review of this movie I've ever seen, compared to the rest I saw. This one's mature and respectable, like all your reviews. 3. In fact, along with your reviews, this was the movie that inspired Merit in the Monsters, a review show where I, I'm not kidding, dig for the "merits" in "monsters" of critically panned cinema, back in the day but...one day, I realized, "This is getting nowhere. I'm just gonna review movies in an over-the-top, exaggerated fashion and even then, reviewing movies myself is boring; what's the point? And besides, others do that job for me anyway."
4:01 maybe the voice actor said the joke backwards and the line should’ve came out as “call the fire department because pest control doesn’t show up on time”, but i’m just guessin’
Hey, nice to see you again, and good review! Also, merry upcoming Christmas! I think the reason people said the animation was terrible was because the general movie watching public doesn't really differentiate between animation, art style, 3D modelling, lighting, etc. So when the texturing, modelling and lighting look cheap, most people will just say the animation is bad, even though the animation itself is alright.
I think you hit the nail on the head there, mate. I've seen people post pictures of texturing/modelling and calling them examples of animation. And Merry Christmas to you!
For me, this movie is so bad it’s funny. I just love to laugh at how bad the plot is, how awful the jokes are, how horrible the animation is, and how freaking terrible the movie is in general.
I think what got this movie a lot of hate is the lemmings. People were really quick to identify them as "Shameless Minions Clones". This film came out right at the peak of when people were getting tired of seeing Minions plastered everywhere, so when the lemmings had their debut critics were not having it and quickly labeled the film "soulless." And even watching it back it does have that stink of "This film feels very corporately motivated." But from what I've seen I think without that context the film definitely seems serviceable. Certainly not a "worst film of the year" candidate. Lotta movie review channels I used to watch back then put it at their number 1 worst spot. So seeing this retrospective is kind of interesting.
Funny, I didn't bring up the Lemmings since I figured there wasn't much to say about them besides "Yeah, they're basically the Minions." If they really were a big reason why critics hated the film, then honestly it was a shallow reason. When I first watched this film, it made me think of a particular article on "The Emoji Movie" that said, "the nation's critics should stop labeling every somewhat lousy film as the 'worst thing ever.'" Seriously, this film wasn't great, but it's leagues better than what I'm reviewing next...
I love how you bring a new perspective to every movie you review and how in-depth yet concisely you go into details. Your reviews are always a blast to watch.
Really nice to see you again, Anim8ball! Good job on discussing this movie and since you mentioned it in the video, it's a shame your video on the PPG reboot got blocked.
Eh, in hindsight, I don't really like that video. I think I reviewed that show with rose-tinted glasses, if you catch my drift. But thank you for the warm reception!
When I saw your tweet, I immediately came here. I swear it's great to see you making reviews again. The title and the jokes you made are funny. I also like your ghost Pokemon necklace. As I was watching this review, I 2 thought that Mr Green was going to threaten Norm instead of youtube pooping his voice. I had no idea that this film has sequals. Anyways great review, you made a lot of excellent points, I can tell that you have improved with critiquing
Oh, so that's what you look like. You're adorable. 😊 And I'm so glad you're feeling better dude. I feel honored to have been with you on this journey.😊
Great to see you man! I still remember watching your SpongeBob videos back in the day, I’ll always appreciate your work man, even on something as horrible as Norm of the North!! haha
Great video! I love watching your thoughts. If you want something that actually is on video brinquedo level (or at least very close to it) then you might want to look into an atrocity called “Leo the Lion”. It used to be on Netflix, but I have no idea we’re to conveniently watch it nowadays. Either way, I think it would make a great episode!
For me, Norm of the North is so awful, it’s straight up hilarious. I’d just watch the movie to roast every character, every line, and every god awful joke. XD
I appreciate the fact that you did find praise in this movie. Yes it's cringey and not particularly good, but at the very least you can find things that work well or decent ideas (as you can with every "bad" movie if you look hard enough). I just feel ashamed at the cast they got involved in this. Ken Jeong, Gabriel Iglecias, Bill Nighy and Kate Higgins have done loads of random stuff in their careers, but I can't tell whether they're wasting their talent by being in Norm of the North, or elevating the film ever so slightly.
anim8ball, I added you to a featured channels section of my channel. Have you seen Mr.Enter's review of this film (though it was a few years ago and not quite representative of his work) and its follow ups (little over a year ago)?
@@anim8ball I can see why. A part of me wants to care since he is at an amateur's screenwriter (given his 70+ scripts on his passion project), so I think he can has an in-depth perceptive. I am glad you are still making content so I am still subscribed to you and have in a featured list on my "channels" section. I appreciate your response. I hope things are manageable for you.
I do have my senior thesis uploaded to this channel, titled "Who's There?" I really haven't done animation since then (for various reasons), but I still want to become a full-fledged 3D animator one day.

I think that scene is what play's every-time he gets an new movie. 8ball if you're going to review another film with an negative reception 'Kids seem to love it though' I think you should do 'Dragon Rescue Riders: Secret of the Songwing'. It's the 2nd film in an recent stream of this Preschool spin-off of How to Train Your Dragon 'Rescue Riders' and for me it 100% missed the point of the original intent of the HTTYD series by 'Cressida Cowell.' Strangely enough I've virtually seen not one person review it, nor the series in general. Also judging by the design of the Songwing herself, it looked as if DreamWorks was trying to capitalize on the popularity of Wings of Fire. Speaking of Dark/Creepy Animal Story's I'm still dreaming to see you one day review Felidae. I feel as if you're the only UA-camr 'Besides maybe Nostalgia Critic since he loves Dark Cartoons' who'd give an intellectual review of it looking pass the whole 'ZOMG SO EDGY!' stick. Thanks and welcome.

Nice, the villian knows how to sentence mix. I'd like to see him sentence mix Morshu the shopkeeper.

This is one film that's so awful, I can't 'Bear' to look.
The film and its franchise deserves to be *on ice*

The sequels are worse.

@@anim8ball Me neither. This is why I make shorter and sweeter videos on my channel.
I have a deep fascination for Norm of the North, its one of the most infamously hated movies of that year, and overall its just not original
