Detroit Connecting Railroad (DCON) chasing Adrian and Blissfield

- What was once the Grand Trunk Western's mainline into downtown Detroit is now a 2.5 mile spur operated by the Adrian and Blissfield Railroad. The operation runs as-needed, and was photographed in October of 2022. Power on the line consists of DCON #4, a 65tonner, and ADBF #836, a SW900. Here, the crew is finishing up switching before chaining the engine up for the night along Farnsworth Street, near Eastern Market. Copyright 2022 Brad Noyes Photo 39.
These are the situations that make for great small-layout model railroading.
Goodness, I had the DCON "layout" in Trainz many years back. I didn't realize just how much it resembled the real thing. Watching this takes me right back to running that on Trainz. Real thing is cooler, though. :-)
Would be a cool line to model👍
I love old worn jointed rail still earning revenue.
I happened to love old trains as well as new trains especially Union Pacific
Neat little operation they have. I caught them over the winter. They just had one tank going up and 2 coming back. Good to see more traffic on the line.
Yes, I was surprised to see all the traffic. It had been years for me since I've seen them working as well.
Fantastic work 👌
Thanks a lot 😊
Nice catch!
Wow that's some seriously rough track!😳
A nice and simple paint scheme on the locomotive. That is a small operation if their yard office is a modified 20' container next to fenced off locomotives. How much trackage do they work?
Just under 3 miles between the end of line, and the connection point in Hamtramck with CN.
Ima old hand signal switchman. To each their own but I prefer over radio when in vision.
Opposite of most railroaders now days. The more you are on the radio the more they can hang you with is what the old heads taught me. 🤷♂️
There’s a train out in front of this one🎉
Proof that General Motors could actually make good stuff...Their cars are a different story, other than the 3800 buick engine and the 350 chevy engine
Early 2000’s 3.5 V6 is an excellent engine too.
Give me back my 1978 Chevy Caprice
No time to mow the grass. We have work to do.
What is the front, and the back of the loco?
Still looks Detroit of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Do they plan to cut the weeds ?
Doubt it. Those tracks will be all gone in a few years anyway.
I think the railroad had challenges getting weed spray for their tracks this year. The Adrian and Blissfield Line in southeast Michigan looked similar this year.
Why do you chase me?
Who else came here from Trainz?
