Alex - love your review. Ownedd my. GT for 3 weeks now and just simply love it. Stepped out of an 86 BMW 635CSi & a 2001 Falccon. XR6 both. maanuals both with upgraded brakes & suspension. This little KIA is simply the best fun I've had for a long time
Yeah spot on, I run one of these as a reliable, cheap daily driver that's fun and efficient, most of the time it's only me in it, what more do you need to go to work, shops etc ?!
And once you put your foot down blowing off ford rangers 3.2 and Toyota 4wds. It makes you feel great I have a gt 2019 great car done some mods like 2.0 inch cat back exhaust, stage 1 chip, throttle controller, lower springs. The car is a rocket for a micro car 0 100 in 8.0 seconds for a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder turbo that's great. Easy 98kw and 225nm torque is whet I get.
Mine cones with statt stop button, D style Steering Wherl and keyless entry but it is european 1.2 GT line AMT (5 auto with +~ tiptronic) and the european airbags that get it to 4 star NCAP latest crush test. Also features auto immergency breaking and alarm siren. Best car in its class. Love it. Because I love its tiptronic faster gear shift engagement I would say the only negative I could say it has if there was one apart from the rear passenger space, is the paddle shift absence.
Yes we miss out on a lot of features in Australia, but I think the market doesn't really expect much more for this class of car. Australian buyers would be more inclined to buy something bigger. Europe has a much bigger small car market.
The DCT is available? Not a good idea in a 'city' car. The 4 spd torque converter slush box is a much better bet. Those clutch packs wont last long in stop start driving.
Nice review. Im a taller man and I do mostly highway driving, but I really like this little hatch. Could you recommend this at all to me knowing that? Ta
@@TheHayabusa09 I would like to know as I am thinking of purchasing this car and getting a tune. I found a company out at brookvale in Sydney named Zadtec who can tune it. Also searched up BlueSpark. The DIY installation procedure for their tuning box seemed very easy to do at home.
I haven't driven it, but from what I read it is not nearly as much fun to drive. Go manual if you can and if you don't know how to drive stick, this is a very easy car to learn on.
The 4spd torque converter slush box is great. Perfect for a 'city' car. The new DCT is a bad fit and the clutch packs will wear quickly and cost lots to replace.
It's proving difficult to find a review where we can hear the engine. Is it so quite it can't be heard inside or is the music in this simply drowning it out?
The engine doesn't make a huge noise but it does rev very nicely. I have heard a few Picantos driving around with aftermarket exhausts that make them much louder.
Notice how all review loan cars are the unloved GT/Line/X models with 16" wheels and vinyl seats and all that gaudi stuff. I have the 3 spec in 1.25 L automatic and its great.
Hi John. Yes we do often get supplied top spec models to review as they have the most features, but sometimes we're given a choice. I usually pick the top-spec :) Thanks for watching!
Here is the list of features KIA Australia ripped off from this model which is available in other market just shocking!!!!: 1. keyless entry 2.keyless start 3. Lane keeping assist LKA/LKA 4. Heated seat 5. DRIVER FATIGUE WARNING 6. tire pressure monitor 7. Digital Auto climate control 8. Sunroof 9. Auot stop start...........
Exactly! Don't forget that in the Asian market, one of those three unsightly blanks (in front of the gear shift) is also featured driver only seat cooling! KIA Australia=tight arse!
I just priced up your dream bells & whistles Picanto on KIA UK 🇬🇧 £16,869 (drive away) or $30,700 Oz dollars, thank you very much. I’ll take the Oz variant 8 days a week

Well it is not DCT it is called automatic manual transmission, same as manual with actuators gor auto

Yes absolutely. I'm quite tall too and fit into it easily, but the back seat is no-go zone...

6'5", and I fit (fairly) easily in mine! Car purrs at 110km, too, so great for longer highway trips
I am 6' tall and have loads of headroom.
@@ArchEnemy2006 110km? Is that speed or distance?
@@fivish Distance, obviously! I would be concerned if the car started purring after driving for 100kms (or at all, for that matter)!

Blue Spark (UK company) do a tune, but any companies here in Australia??
Indeed yes
