i have a 1999 land cruiser 153,000 miles, had too do same thing, i also put on shocks, all oem toyota parts, figured they lasted 20 years, so did not go aftermarket, shocks still working ok with no leaks, but wanted too refresh suspension, thanks for the video, i like that heat tool !! no torch, i live in vt, rust belt, .
You need a tool up there, for sure! Did you replace all bushings, like control arms, panhard bar, etc? Here in Utah, the salt is bad. I try not to drive it in those conditions and the truck is from Tennessee/Texas.
no, control arms and panhard are still going strong 💪 surprisingly, i did replace the plastic tee’s that go too heater core, good thing too, could have gone at anytime !! it’s lucky i seen a video about them, didn’t even know they existed lol.
This link has everything you'll need (and I've added it to the description). Thanks! forum.ih8mud.com/threads/when-how-to-replace-stabilizer-bar-bushings-cushions-links-aka-sway-bar.975030/
Four more bolts..if they are rusty, I'd forget it. The torque on the sway bar end links doesn't really seem to be something critical in my opinion to warrant all that extra effort.
Maybe reach out via Instagram with a photo of what you're dealing with, but if I understand what you're asking, there are three cushions parts you can replace. Two (each side of the sway bar) on the bar side of the link and one (with a steel sleeve in the middle) and the axle/a-arm side of the link. In my video, I was only replacing the cushions on the sway bar side and I replaced both of them.
The Land Cruiser Project there are 3 bushings on the end links. One on the top, one on the middle and one in the bottom where it connects to the sway bar. You only replaced the top and middle. I'm just a bit wondering why you didn't replace the bottom part too.
Back to my original response - it wasn't in scope. I had the upper two cushions laying around and so I thought I'd install them. The fronts were obviously worn but the rears were fine.
I am doing my sway bar links tomorrow. Just wondering if you had any issues with raising the car and putting more pressure on the sway bar caused any problems. Seems much easier to just pull the tires in the front and get lots more room. Did you have any issues getting each side fitted. It looks from the video that. You got one side down and then went to the other side.
Finished them today. Used the heat to loosen the top nuts. Amazing how that works. Didn’t have your fancy inductive heat device but just used a propane torch. Thanks for your video. It was awesome.
I definitely paid a premium for the 100 for the privilege to not have a sunroof. There was a lot good with it but a lot bad. Not enough bad that I would have walked away, but still. It made it from TN to UT without issue and so I can't complain too much. We'll find another 80! Rest assured.

Just wondering if you have the part numbers for the parts you used? Thanks for all of you work to put these together.

Great vid. Was wondering what kind of bump stops you're using in the rear and if you recommend them. Any plans on upgrading the ones up front? Thanks!
Stock bump stops for now.
How much does the inductor tool cost and where did you get it. I'm reworking the front end of my 2002 presently.
I bought mine off eBay used ($200) and without and coils ($70). They are available on Amazon: Mini-Ductor II amzn.to/3diapC0 and run about $475.
How do you know it’s time to replace those bushings? And did you torque spec the rear?
Cracked, make noise, or you have the parts sitting on your shelf.
Did you change the rear ones without using the jack?
Yes, no need to jack the vehicle unless you can't squeeze under there. A little suspension lift helps.
Thanks
What was the torque specifications for the rear ?
Good and tight for those since I couldn't get a torque wrench on them.
@@thelandcruiserproject i wonder if taking the brackets on the top off in order to torque would end up running into more issues ?

How about the bushing on the bottom part?
Not in scope!
The Land Cruiser Project am I supposed to replace that bottom part too or leave it like that?

Nifty toaster for sure
I absolutely love that tool.

You should be able to do it either way, but you have to kind of do both sides together to make sure it all goes together.
Tried today but my jack stands are not tall enough. Need to make some plywood plates to put under them.
I was wondering where you jack the vehicle up? Looks like somewhere in the center and then jack stands. Can you tell me what location you use?
Refer to your owners manual to be sure but I jack on the little round thing sort of near the front diff.

Hey did you ever mention how much you paid for your 100 Series?
I don't think I have - $10,500. Are you interested in detailed costs in a future video?
The Land Cruiser Project Yes please! Thanks and sorry to see the 80 leave your driveway. 😥

Know anybody by now with covid1984?
Still no!
