  • 3 DIY face masks that do not require sewing. These homemade masks are similar to N95 Respirators or surgical masks by protecting your nose & month but do not provide the same filter capabilities. All of these are easy to make in less than a minute and with household items. I go over how to make a T-shirt Face Mask, a Paper Towel Mask, and a Bandana and Rubberband Mask.

    2:21 T-shirt Face Mask
    3:21 Bandana Face Mask

    The paper towel and T-shirt masks are some damned fine "down-n-dirty" DIY work!
    EDIT: After some research, I would suggest replacing the paper towel with 2 sheets of polypropylene blue shop towels. ToolBox and Zep are 2 brands tested by Suay Sew, a company making masks to donate to front line workers. They got almost 93% 3 micron filtration using 2 towels as filter material layers in the cotton masks that they are sewing.
    My thought is to use 2 of the shop towels with the paper towel mask method for about the most effective DIY mask possible...
    EDIT: Use a 2 inch or so wide strip of aluminum foil repeatedly folded down to a 1/4 wide x2 inch long strip for a nose piece taped to the inside if you want...

      Another consideration is to include vacuum bag high filtration bag and filter inserts from high quality brands (like Miele, I used to clean houses and they are amazing canister vacs).
      There are knockoffs, but OEM is always best. I picked up some U bags from Amazon because they are bigger. GNs are midsized. FJMs are more compact. The bags are pricey all day long.
      I saw in another comment section a sewer mentioned a special kind of felt she used that had a specific micron filtration component.

    In my humble opinion ! I believe the bandana would work best just because it has more layers. If you are able to blow out a candle when wear one does it actually work. Perhaps, wearing the bandana and the shirt would be more beneficial. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and not being selfish. Many people don’t have the funds to purchase a basic mask. I was just on EBay and they are literally selling two n95 for $205 not including the shipping. It is obvious that you helped many of us. People like you make others still have a little faith in humanity. Stay safe everyone and God bless .

    Thank you for being the guy to provide the perfect solution for me: a one-time use paper towel mask! It provides great coverage and I don't have to worry about disinfecting and washing a cloth one every time. I am using a Viva inside a Bounty and only one section so there will be no perforation, and it has plenty of facial coverage. I'm making up a few and will put each one in a plastic bag until I wear it, and then I'll have a way to safely dispose of it when I remove it. I'll probably look into the polypropylene shop towels for their better filtration, but it's wonderful to have this easy solution with things I already have on hand. Thanks again!

      @Bflo23 4 роки тому +1

      Don't use paper towel. It is extremely thin. False sense of security. You could see all the little holes in the paper towel and then you got perforations. Use blue shop paper towel at the very least. Cut a t-shirt into bandana size and use at least 8 layers of cotton over mouth and nose.
