    What a wonderful being Sally was. She was amazing and it's so sad that she has now passed away all these years later. She adopted so many babies during the course of her life at Monkey World.

    Oh Sally, you absolute sweetheart! 🥰 That literally bought tears to my eyes seeing Sally and Brian hug. Sally is so in tune and just knows not to push it. She could honestly teach humans a thing or two. I can’t believe that poor little Brian’s teeth were knocked out. How cruel 😢😢

    Life can be so beautiful and yet so cruel at the same time. Someone like him, to die so young is just absolutely heartbreaking. That shouldn't have happened to someone like him there's no Rhyme or Reason to it. My heart goes out to his wife

    In latest monkey videos from other places I saw caregivers wearing a west with "monkey-like" fibers that resemble monkey hair. When they carry an orangutan baby, their vest is orange, when they carry baby gorilla, the vest with fibers are black.

    Jim must have inherited a pile of money so he decided to make his goal helping someone else and he chose the chimpanzees. I wish more rich people would do similar things, including drilling for water for millions in Africa and elsewhere.

    Why are u allowing births in the sanctuary and then taking the babies away from their mothers? both seem very cruel to me.

    • @jcolbyt82
      @jcolbyt82 3 місяці тому

      They don’t take them away for no reason. They leave the baby with the mother if they can. But as you see in some of the other episodes, most of the orangutans have been rescued from some bad situations and have never observed other females caring for a new baby. As a result, a very high percentage of babies born to great apes in situations like this reject the baby. Or in some cases the mother will hold and care for the baby, but when it tries to nurse the mother doesn’t understand what it is trying to do and won’t allow it to nurse. If they don’t intervene the baby will certainly die.
      When the mother rejects a baby it isn’t cruel to take it away. The mother wants nothing to do with it and isn’t bothered by it. Leaving the baby crying on the floor to slowly starve to death is however quite cruel, don’t you think?
      Most sanctuaries don’t actively promote reproduction. They will give males vasectomies sometimes and they put the females on birth control. But, despite that, an occasional baby will be born. Some sanctuaries do allow some of their animals to reproduce. They do that to help ensure the survival of the species considering that in the wild some of the animals are close to being wiped out.
      These people do their very best to raise and care for these animals that have been subjected to some of the most cruel and inhumane conditions imaginable. Do they get it right 100% of the time? No they don’t. But they do everything that they know how to do to enrich the lives of these animals, many of which have been through hell and back. Their work should be applauded.

      They arent taking babies away from the mothers they rescue them from humans and bring them to the wildlife center to be raised with other monkies,

    • @robinfinley7106
      @robinfinley7106 3 місяці тому +4

      Also they only take the babies away if their mother has abandoned them. Since they have females in captivity that have never had the training from a wild mother of how to care for a baby, this is a problem. Human mothers have to learn how to care for and raise a child also…

I cried watching this even though I know he passed away some years ago now. Having been to Monkey World I know what a special place this is.
